Need help deciding upgrades

Lately I've been looking to upgrade from 1080p to 1440, from what I have read my system (as listed below) will struggle hard with the resolution and hz upgrade. I would rather get my pc setup better first rather than get a better monitor just for it to run worse in games. I mainly use the setup for very heavy gaming/streaming and work when I'm not. If you have suggestions on what the best cpu/gpu to transfer to that would be great. Trying to keep my motherboard, psu, and cooler the same so to not break the bank too bad with this. Let me know what you guys think.
Setup:
i5-12400f
MSI RTX 3050
32gb Ram
Gigabyte b740 (not sure exactly what variant)
500w PSU
NZXT T120RGB - CPU cooler
this pc was a prebuilt, I am not a pro with this by any means but willing to take on the challenge to get my setup better

The psu has to be upgrade for a better graphic card. 4060 required 550w psu, 6750xt required a 650w psu, even a 3070 still need a 650w. So unfortunally to say, the first option seems to be sell the psu and graphic card to save some money, then consider on next step...

I could certainly consider that. Its more of the hassle of rewiring everything than just not wanting to upgrade it. I would consider a 3070 for sure but from what I have heard from friends is that my CPU is more of a bottleneck than my GPU, if this is not the case I could understand but more wondering what the best next step would be, and if GPU+PSU is that best next step.

The mother board only supports intel cpu, but gen13 and 14 has stability problems, but they claim they have fixed it. If you want to stay on nvidia, I suggest wait for 50 series to come out to see if it has better price (have to wait 2-3 month). If you only using computer for game, then anything below 4070s, amd has better cost-effectiveness, for current. But Amd is also decided to release it's new gpu on 2-3 month. And for the psu chosen, look at here. It need to be satisfy the minim required wats for gpu.

CPU is fine. GPU is weak the day it was released.
A budget 1440p card is 6750XT for ~$300.

Its an nzxt tower, not a laptop or anything. The only thing is I would prefer to stay with Nvidia, as I have become super comfortable with the control panel and tuning it for certain things. I could be swayed away but they have not done me wrong.

Nvidia has no worthwhile offerings under $450.
