Is my brand new SSD failing?

I recently bought a new SSD so I can upgrade the storage on my PC. I went from the stock “Western Digital 512 GB SSD” to a “990 Evo 2TB Samsung SSD”. After trying to start up my PC he keeps telling me Boot device not found and please install an operating system on your hard disk with an error (Hard Disk - (3F0) ). I’ve been taking all steps to try and remedy this however, nothing is working. I removed it from the PC and reinstalled it. Tried loading default settings from the BiOS. However, I did run a test on the storage, it said it passed the smart check, but had a warning for the short DST? Unsure where to go from here.

Your OS is on the WD drive.
No shit your PC can't boot into the OS : you removed the drive with the OS from the PC

LMAO I just got that 😅. Idk how to install the OS on the new one

Put the old drive back in, and also have the new one plugged in.
Then checkout this thread https://www.reddit.com/r/computers/comments/186uico/what_are_the_best_options_for_free_disk_cloning/
Follow the instructions to clone your drive to the new Samsung one. Once you're done, shut down computer, go into bios by pressing "DEL" key as computer is booting up. Then in boot options, select your samsung SSD as the main boot drive. Viola.

It sounds like you never installed an operating system on the new drive. If that is the case try doing that and see if the error goes away.

I don’t know how to install the OS

Short DST means the hard drive failed. I bet you did install a new copy of Windows on that hard drive I bet.

As others stated did you install Windows on the new hard drive? Sounds like you did not do this.
You need to download the ISO and burn it to the flash drive than boot to flash drive and install Windows.
