Adding call in number to Teams meetings?
Posted by Bad_Mechanic@reddit | sysadmin | View on Reddit | 13 comments
My company currently uses Teams Essentials with a mix of Microsoft 365 Apps for Business and Microsoft 365 Business Standard. I'm trying to figure out what's needed to add call in numbers to our Teams meetings, and as with most Microsoft licensing it's extremely unclear what actually required.
Could someone please enlighten me?

It’s a license you need to add in order to do that. You’re adding phone service into teams to add a call-in number. If you have a Microsoft partner, reach out to them.

Actually, I'd recommend just checking the portal first. It might be different as we're all bus. prem., but these licenses have zero cost, and we were able to get as many as we wanted

They said they are Standard not premium licenses. Makes a difference. With standard there are no voice licenses included. They need to reach out to their Microsoft Partner.

Emphasis mine.
And just in case, here's another link with the word free in nice big blue letters

My turn for emphasis: FOR OUTBOUND CALLS…. Adding a call in number for teams meetings would be an inbound call.

He said they have a business standard license. The links you put for clearly state e3 or e5 license. What’s the item you’re not understanding?

That's literally the name of the license....

There is a free add-on and a paid one, this is the free one: Microsoft Teams Audio Conferencing includes dial-out to USA/CAN only
The free one gets you 60 minutes per license, pooled across the tenant.

Would you please unpack "The free one gets you 60 minutes per license, pooled across the tenant" a little more?

You "buy" 10 licenses and assign to users. You will have 600 minutes that can be used for Teams conferencing audio for your 30 day billing cycle.
This article explains it in detail: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/audio-conferencing-subscription-dial-out

It’s an add on license.

You need the Audio Conferencing Add on and assign it to the person organizing the meetings.

Whenever they schedule a meeting a random number will be generated which people can use to dial in. You can also assign 1 number as an Audio conferencing Bridge.
