ULPT Request: Keep rude neighborhood kids out of backyard

My house is on a corner lot next to the mailboxes and has a bit of room beside it so some kids go there to play football. I'm happy that they are there instead of doing drugs, etc. but they will not stop jumping my fence and coming into my yard. I have put a lock on the fence with a 'do not enter/no trespassing sign' and have kindly asked them multiple times to quit cussing and coming into my yard. I'm afraid of one of them getting hurt in my yard and me having to pay for it or get sued. They are just disrespectful kids and I want them to find somewhere else to play from now on. How can I deter them or do I just let them be?

My first thought was that it’s your land do what you want. But then I thought.. if your INTENT is to give them poison ivy I think you could probably get in trouble.. But I’m no rocket lawyer.

Put some plants along your fence row that are spiky, something like blackberries, roses or cactus. My blackberries will put out canes that are 10 to 15 ft long that have spikes even on the leaves. They're really good at keeping people away from them. They also produce delicious fruit.

Do you have homeowners insurance? If you have no trespassing signs and make an attempt to get them gone, you have a good paper trail that you did all you could and that they were trespassing. How about you talk to the parents and tell them you're going to call the police and have them arrested for trespassing next time?

This is a reasonable solution. Nobody gets hurt. Nobody is making threats. Nothing too mean. And it's probably getting a bit chillier so if a kid gets sprayed they have to deal with going home to change clothes.

I tried spraying my cats with water when they did something bad or got into something they weren’t supposed to. They eventually just got used to it lol. Water will only work the first few times. They’ll find the blind spots quickly. Plus it’s only water. It rains. I’m certainly not proposing putting something other than water through your sprinkler though.
