I have the smallest question ever asked about SSD light blinking

Hi, this is silly and I should just ignore it but I'm really curious why my external SSD light won't stop flashing. The situation:
- I have 2 external SSDs, both inside SABRENT 2.5 SSD Enclosures via USB. One is 1TB and the other is 500gb, same brand and 2 years old. Both are operating fine.
- When I plug the 2nd one in, it's drive activity light on the enclosure will blink. It doesn't matter what USB port I use or which one is plugged in first/second, the second SSD always blinks continuously.
- I've turned off indexing on both drives and nothing changes. It'll blink for days and has been going for over a week.
- When I disable Defender's Real-Time Protection, the blinking stops and it shows normal drive activity via the light.
Any ideas what might be causing this before I put a piece of tape over the enclosure light?
