So my specs are:
AMD Ryzen 5 3600 6-Core Processor
16 GB ram
GTX 1660 Ti
Built this PC at 2020, 21 or 22 I don't remember
I'm thinking of getting RTX 3050 8GB. I have no idea on this subject so I wanted help from the community basically, my purpose for this is that I can play the future games without having problems cuz playing WUKONG, at medium graphics... it wasn't the smoothest so ye just to make sure playing newer games wont be a prob

3050 will not be enough for AAA games, on top of that it is minor upgrade over 1660ti, you need a lot of upgrades which will cost more than your idea is probably

what upgrades would I need to do? I'm gonna up my whole pc slow and steady

Cpu to ryzen 57003d if your motherboard support it and can handle it, RAM to 32gb in total, and GPU.. like 4070s / 7800xt / 7900gre?

I see so my motherboard thankfully does support Ryzen 57003d (B450 Tomahawk Max) which I'll do eventually and I'll get 32gb ram and RX 6650 XT or 6600 for now trying 4070s would be a straight confirmation for my father to skin me into a leather wallet. thanks for the info btw really means alot!

Idk if 6600 or 6650xt is worth the money over 1660ti.. it is still a capable card on 1080p
Bulky-Spend-8245@reddit (OP)
so just up the processor and ram for now?
GonstroCZ@reddit
What is your resolution?
Bulky-Spend-8245@reddit (OP)
if ur talking bout desktop resolution then its 1920x1080. Idk if we're talking bout the same thing tho

For ~$200, get an RX 6650XT instead.
A 3050 can't RT for crap, and even with DLSS would get outdone by 6650XT natively.

I've been thinking about it and either I'm doing RX 6650 with uping my 16 gb ram to 32 gb ram or just up my graphics to RTX eagle Oc 8G. whats the play here?
mustfix@reddit
The Eagle is the lowest end model of all 4060s.
I'd still favor the 6650XT for $70 less, that's just slightly behind the 4060 in perf.

ok the price makes sense now. Thanks!
Naerven@reddit
For gaming the rtx3050 8gb has identical performance to a gtx1660ti. This is why no one recommends them for new builds.

The 3050 is a side step, checkout this hierarchy chart

U can get an rx 6600 for same price but much better
