I wanted to show off my budget gun cabinet

I bought a 72" tall locker off Amazon and used a rifle rack I already had on hand to hold 3 long guns in here. Then I got some led motion sensor lights that mounted magnetically to the underside of the shelves. I plan on eventually making a whole wall for my gear out of plywood with this nested inside it as a gun locker or buying a good gun safe and just putting my gear in here. I haven't made up my mind yet, but this will serve the purpose of keeping my kid away from my guns under normal circumstances. I originally planned to buy a vaultek rifle safe that compliments my existing pistol safe, but for under $200 bucks I couldn't justify not building this thing.
I know this is nowhere near good enough for keeping thieves out, but that ain't what this is for. This is for keeping my school age kid from getting to my long guns while still being able to move this to my next apartment with little fuss if I decide to move. If someone decides to take a pry ar to this thing, a sub $1k safe probably wouldn't stop them.

I did something similar with a locking metal wardrobe

That's a great idea. What holds it together? Are they nuts and bolts or something else?

Nuts and bolts, yes. I have about 2,000 rounds on a single shelf and it seems to be holding up just fine. Foam gun rack off of Amazon cut to size and it’s a 4-5 long gun safe with ammo and gear storage! I almost got the locker but then I realized I don’t have anywhere to put the ammo

Thanks for letting me know 😊

I almost bought that one actually! I wonder how the gauge of the metal compares to a dedicated gun cabinet

It’s pretty thin, I’m sure yours is thicker. I just wanted to keep it all out of sight and organized. Though I am worried about as it gets heavier if it can hold

What are you using to hold your mags that way?
WrathfulMechanic@reddit (OP)
I 3D printed some holders.

Man… I need to get myself a 3D printer and get to learning.

It's not hard. I got a bambulab printer and followed some fusion 360 tutorials. I've been making random shit left and right.

It's really nice after adding the flag, rack, and lighting.
