a gun won't protect you in a confined space like a truck cab... smart parking is a better solution. also people don't realize the even brandishing a firearm (let alone a discharge of a firearm) is months to years of legal issues even if your innocent.
a gun won’t protect you in a confined space like a truck cab...
I’ll be honest, I really didn’t read my Glock’s owners manual, I just kinda skimmed it. Maybe that’s why I missed the part where it listed minimum space requirements for usage?
Bellow certain distances, against a knife wielder you're better off with a proper meelee weapon instead of a pistol, unless you land a lucky shot and the guy drops dead instantly. Otherwise you're gonna get tagged and the robber will bleed out after killing you. Nothing too bad can come from leaving a rebar piece next to your gun lol
Your premise is wrong. You and I and most people would never rob anyone, it’s not worth it . The people who would are not clear rational thinkers, what if after you give them the load they decide they don’t want any witnesses. What if they are more interested in perpetuating crimes against the driver than they are in the load?
You are approaching it as you know the intention of people. There are robberies, rapes and murders, there are also crimes that make those look like nice crimes.

If in self defense, you will likely not have legal issues. If you do have issues, at least you’re alive. And yes, it will 100% protect me in the truck.
Quite a few, actually. A large percentage of those of us who carry have signed up for CCW insurance, although “insurance” is a bit of a misnomer. It’s more membership to a service that has lawyers on retainer for the members to use should they need them.
Notice how nobody here is all high and mighty that you are scared of a tool? Truck drivers' lives have been saved by having a weapon, both inside and outside of the truck. Even the CDC agrees that guns are used way more in defense than in criminal acts.
We just had a driver slaughtered in his truck on an off ramp on I-80 in Utah. Neck sliced open and left to die on his bed. Anyone who’s against such tools for us drivers needs to piss off. Especially as poverty, and sanity of the public has become worse.
A pistol can be wielded easily in a cab. And I’ll take years of headache if it means years of being alive. If you don’t want to own a gun then don’t. You shouldn’t be concerned with whether I do or not.
Arguable- but even if… wouldn’t those months and years of legal issues be preferable to not one more moment- of anything again ever? It is to me and my family.
A gun works great to protect oneself against people dedicated to committing violence against you, in a truck or outside of it. You know how guns work, right?
Americans love cosplaying hero or self defender in their head.
Statistically, you're more likely to be trigger happy... And running is statistically safer.
But fuck statistics and reality when we can touch mags.
I've been a gun owner for nearly 50 years, have never been shot by one of mine or any others. If you don't like guns don't get one. You do not get get to impose your mis guided fears on me.
Your opinion and anecdotal experience is just that. Statistics don't give a shit about your snowflake reactionary BS.
Your fear of gun control is misguided. It's based on emotional reactions, not facts. Your personal experiences are irrelevant in the grand scheme of things.
You think you're being tough by saying "deal with it," but you're ignoring the real-world consequences of gun violence. Your opinion is worthless in a world of billions.
Owning a gun is more dangerous than not owning one. It puts you and everyone around you at risk. Your selfish desire for self-defense is a threat to public safety.
Stop pretending you're a lone wolf. Your individualism is killing people. It's time to prioritize the collective good over your own ego.
If someone breaks into my truck and politely asks me to vacate my property so they may steal the truck, trailer, and load, then I don't need a gun. But I've never heard of that happening.
Usually a thief breaks in with the understanding that they will need to do grievous bodily harm to remove the driver from the vehicle. I much prefer to defend myself in that situation.
Remember Reginald Denny, he was yanked from his dump truck by rioters, beaten to an inch of his life, then had a cinderblock smashed on his head crushing his skull into 91 peices. The LA Four were let off with a slap on the wrist for the attempted murder. He wouldn't have had to had his head and face rebuilt and go through years of therapy had he shot them dead.
I have literally yelled out my windows, " I ain't no Reginald Fucking Denny, now get away from my truck."
The people of Baltimore are exceptionally friendly and helpful while it's light out. Once it gets dark, though, there are some streets you just don't belong driving down.
I worked out an alternate route of my own after that encounter.
Exactly, you have the right to defend yourself from such hostilities.
You don't have the time to hit pause and wax poetic to consider exactly how much you're about to get hurt when you're attacked, you just know that there is someone that is very hostile and you have no idea how much they intend to hurt you or even kill you.
Also your family needs you alive and able, all the insurance money in the world isn't going to replace mommy or daddy.
I agree with your sentiment and rationale people respond to violence, especially with a force multiplier. The whole Kyle Rittenhouse story is crazy and on reason is after he shot someone the crowd rushed him. Maybe it’s because he was scared and wasn’t looking to stand his ground or maybe he was retreating to an area where he felt safe. But literally after shooting 2 people more people rush him. Doesn’t make any sense.
Doubt it, they’d likely run as soon as they saw he had one through the door window. None of them would have made it to the door handle, much less be able to open the door and pull him out.
You're right, he wouldn't have had to go through surgery and therapy because of he would've shot any of those people, he would've been killed right there.
Congratulations, you found the exception that proves the rule. They didn’t do that because they wanted his stuff- they did it because they were angry, and he happened to be there.
You’re much more likely to get shot for not pulling up at the pumps (or calling someone out for not doing so)
I have a german shepherd and a gun for the dumbass that wants to test the shepherd. 16 years driving and I never had to unholster that gun inside the truck. Now, the shepherd has had some fun with some fuel theives and some stupid trucker thay decided to climb up on my steps and try to pull me out of the cab. Out of those two deals, I got me a free dewalt siphon pump, assualt charges on another driver, and lot n lots of shit eatin grins
Thats good that it's never gotten that far. Some of these guys are so egotistical that they think their experience dictates everyone else's and never needing one till this point means they never will
That sounds like that driver that tried to pull me out. Dude was coming out the entrance to a place at maybe 30 between rows of trucks parked on either side as I was turning in. Wanted to nose up to me and not backup. The ego out here is incredible. That's OK. Last Monday I hung up the keys after those 16 years and 2M safe miles. 2M is a nice number to throw in the towel. Sadly, after 40 years here, trucking is the only thing I am good at. Going to have to start at the bottom somewhere but damn, less stress is worth it!
Follow state laws, follow all licensing and permit regulations first and foremost. Getting caught with it illegally means you will never have that issue again because you will never own one again.
From a company standpoint, the truck, the load, AND the driver are all replaceble.
The potential lawsuit they might incur from you defending yourself is more of a PITA than just chalking up your death to "the cost of business".
Dont be a dumbass, always have an out for YOURSELF, if someone wants to just hijack the truck that has nothing to do with me, just lemme log out of the Elog first.
Also, "park better" is the most ignorant braindead thing i've heard, unexpected delays happen that better planning can not solve.
The most important bit is learn where you can and can't have a gun. You will never use it, unlike what most truckers seem to think, but you WILL get pulled over and the guy or gal pulling you over is going to LOVE the extra paperwork you just made them do when they find said gun so you better make sure you do everything right.
And if you fuck up somewhere while carrying? You're gonna meet a LOT of people :)
Won’t stop you from crazy, if someone is breaking into a occupied cab and does not listen to a evac request (fuck man take it let me go fuck this rig) then it’s a good friend to have. Only took my short time in trucking to be made glad to have my uncles advice of strapping the doors together
Look, I like guns. I believe in gun rights. I own guns.
But it's hilarious to me how paranoid people are. The chances of you dying by a break in robbery is slim to none. The chances of you dying by a car crash is MUCH higher but I hardly EVER see anyone wanting EXTRA tools to prevent that...
BUT GIVE ME A MF GUN BUD!!! I'LL JOHN WICK A MF!!! - 400LB Trucker.
"A gun is not a weapon, Marge. It's a tool. Like a butcher knife, or a harpoon, or... uh, a... an alligator. You just need more education on the subject. Tell you what. You come with me to an N.R.A. meeting, and if you still don't think guns are great, we can argue some more." - Homer S.
This is making the assumption that criminal x only wants the truck and/or load without having any inclination towards violence (premeditated or sporadic). This is anti-self defense propaganda.
Reading these comments gave me a sigh of relief I thought I was tripping for carrying my ccw but after a few sketchy encounters I vowed to never hit the road with out it I could give a fuck about the company truck or the load my safety is priceless and making it back home safely to family is all that matters idgaf about the rules yall be safe out here drivers🫡
what scenarios have you found yourself in? I'm genuinely curious, people are making it clear it's for safety purposes, which is fair enough. but you can't have a loaded handgun in a vehicle while traveling is my understanding
Of course you can have a loaded hand gun in your vehicle while driving/traveling especially if you have a permit to carry weapons (dependent on state and local laws)
Yea it was in fl I have a Ccw in fl I only run in the south so I only carry in the south even when I was otr I always followed the law and the reciprocity with my state it’s been times where I’ve thrown away magazines over 10 rounds just to go into cali so I follow the laws
Unless you’re a shitty wife/husband/father, I’m pretty sure your loved ones would pick you over money given the choice. Why they’d pick you, I don’t know. You seem kinda slow.
You realize if you have a key to one 2012-2016 freightliner Casacadia you have a key for EVERY Casacadia model of that year.
This is not correct. Freightliner has dozens of different key codes. A lot of carriers will order the trucks they buy with the same key code, but that's not the same as all trucks of a certain make and model all having the same key code.
You can cope and whine about me having a gun in my cab all you want but I'd rather have it and not need it, then need it and not have it.
This is 100 percent correct. Every American citizen should have a gun and be well trained in its use.
There’s this neat little trick, you can use where you take any Freightliner key and you jiggle it up and down rapidly multiple times and eventually it will unlock the door. I have done this to another truck who is backing into the dock left his truck running and locked his keys in his door. I use my Freightliner key, jiggled it up and down inside the keyhole About 30 to 40 times while attempting to twist and it eventually unlocked his door. I saw YouTube video and how to do it, anybody with a key can get in your truck
I dont even think this person is a driver. Maybe some local fuck wit that never leaves their nice suburbs or something, any otr with miles on them would see why having something for self defense would be extremely useful.
Yeah, depends how likely it is that your attacker has a gun though. A bat is probably sufficient for most of Western Europe.
If you get into an altercation in Australia, I've never thought: "fuck this guy might shoot me". Different in the US though.
If I've wronged somebody I apologise and fix it. If I've been wronged, I let them know without deliberately escalating to violence. Don't get worked up over small things
Nah that's correct. Especially in states with relaxed gun laws but even in states with gun laws, guys that do bad things also break the law and carry guns.
You arent meant to win lmao. If a trailer full of apple juice and instant mash is worth fighting for in a armed robbery youre either an idiot with a deathwish or a naive keyboard warrior.
I could careless about the truck or the load. I'm just trying not to get raped. Why did god curse me with these good looks? I wish I was ugly like the rest of you, non gun needing ugly truckers.
I don't need a fire extinguisher in my truck because I've never had to use it before. I don't need safety triangles because I've never had to use them before. I don't need a drive cam because I've never had to use it before. It's weird how I legally have to have all this stuff, be trained to use it and maintain it, but I've never had to use it, but the thing every person has the right to is a problem.
Anyone on here ever had to use a gun, or been in ACTUAL need of a gun, in the course of their duties as a truck driver? Are you personally aquainted with someone who has? ( Really, not imaginary)
Ok. Not advocating buying a gun here, but i do need to point out a fallacy. Insurance did not cover it. You will get an estimated amount which is FAR LOWER than what it will cost to replace what you lost. Let's say the blue book value they will give you is $10k. It's going to cost you 20k to replace it. Losing the vehicle and everything inside can absolutely cause most people to lose everything. Many times, the money from the loss will just go to the bank to pay off the loan, so you are still stuck with the full 20k to replace it. This could wreck a small family or business.
There have been plenty of studies that show the chances of accidental discharge or unnecessary escalation are greater when you have a gun vs the chance that a gun will actually save your life. The chances of someone actually robbing the truck is incredibly low, and the chance of someone COMING FOR YOU instead of the cargo is basically zero. But the chance of you accidentally shooting yourself or getting paranoid and shooting a homeless man then ending up in jail is much greater.
But don't waste time trying to explain math to truck drivers, half the people here don't understand why it's bad to not get overtime pay.
Yeah but most of them won't. That's how statistics work. Statistically most people think they're a genius action movie hero who will save the day with their handgun, but are more likely a dumb ass who will shoot themselves or a bystander, or escalate an otherwise non-lethal situation into themselves getting shot.
"but other people are stupid" doesn't mean you're dispensing useful advice for smart people who are perfectly capable and willing to do that pretty small amount of effort to safely prepare to defend themselves.
and to be brutally honest, that's the exact quality of response you're getting from an american cop anyway. the only difference there is the response time, and your capability to improve your own firearm skills.
Generally speaking you are correct. However, as right as you might be NOW there’s no guarantee you’ll still be right later. Also, I’ve heard tell of some crazy things happening along the US-Mexico border, and ages back truck hijacking was actually a thing.
While the truck and the load are covered by insurance, your life and safety are not. Insurance isn't going to save you if you get hijacked or someone breaks into your truck while you're asleep. And not everyone who breaks into a truck is interested in stealing the truck or your load. Sometimes they're just batshit crazy and no amount of insurance will fix that situation.
This guy obviously has never handled a gun or firearm in his life. He probably just got back from hammering his Harris sign into his front yard, and then turning on the light above his gay pride flag in his front window. He actually probably poured himself a glass of almond milk and was thawing out of vegan tofu patty while he wrote that post.
Lmao yes truckers and cops carrying guns totally same thing.
Theyre required to be armed to do their job. All youre required to do is to sit on your ass and recycle your piss jugs and you guys seem to have trouble with half of it.
The other poster did not say it was a matter of training, but of a gun in a confined space. And you would be very worried to know how few rounds and how little training cops get compared to plenty of concealed carrier owners.
I don't give a rats ass about the load. I'm not sticking my neck out for the insured product of a billion dollar company, but if you break into my tractor, I'm sending you to Jesus.
Firearms aren't for defending property. You're attacking a straw man with this argument and it reveals how little you respect people you disagree with.
Yeah because thieves always let you go of you give them what they want
Not like there isn't thousands of cases and videos that show that's not true or anything
Get a gun! don’t listen to these idiots. You have the right to defend yourself, if you’re a POS and wanna break into my truck you’re going to learn a very valuable lesson.
A lot of truckers are really, really unsafe gun owners. This needs to be rectified with classes on gun safety and proper gun ownership. Sorry to say but a lot of people don't know how to properly handle a firearm and can get themselves and innocent bystanders killed. Guns shouldn't be in the hands of untrained civilians let alone be so ubiquitous that a common criminal can get their hands on one without anything stopping them. Get your training guys and be part of the solution.
Fucking Americans. Cant go about their day without a gun strapped to their hip. Youd swear they where living in some sort of war zone and not the most afluent country in the western world.
Life insurance covers finances. That's it. If that's all the value you assign to your own life, you need to see a therapist about your depression issues.
I don't know if you are being sarcastic, but OP made the exact same argument and he isn't being sarcastic. He's either stupid or trolling, or he doesn't value his own life.
Sarcasm doesn't carry over well in gun debates, when the people who hate them make every conceivable stupid argument and are doing so in all seriousness.
Do you even bother to read the abstract? Death by accidental injury is among the top causes of death, and guns are a leading cause of those injuries. Over the course of 18 years they recorded some 1200 deaths from accidental fire arms incidents. That's not a leading cause of death unless you consider a huge list of leading causes.
And considering how easy it is to be responsible with your guns, those numbers skew towards people who choose to not be responsible.
lol…first of all, your faith that everyone here is that careful is almost definitely wrong but believe what you want…I’m not trying to appeal to anyone…just offering up a fact-based perspective…
to be clear…truckers with handguns aren’t the problem…the ability to slaughter dozens in seconds with automatic, semi-automatic, and modified weapons of war is the problem
nope, you're still wrong. i'm not responding to you after this one. you argue in bad faith, and think you can appeal to emotion to get others on your side. but common sense will always prevail. even my little sisters know guns aren't the problem. we have a mental health problem in this country. take away the guns and people will just use cars, knives, bombs, etc. so just ban everything then? where does it end? bye.
1) how am I arguing in bad faith?
2) I’m citing statistics. Data is data. If you’re getting emotional, that’s on you.
3) your little sisters are as dumb as you are, assault weapons are not going to be replaced by the things you cite and inflict the same damage; proof? the rest of the world
But that’s okay. You keep putting your little sisters in danger. I’m sure they’re fine with it.
OP isn't one of us, they're someone who's home every night and isn't capable of understanding the core truth of trucking.
Whatever situation you find yourself dealing with, you've got to deal with it on your own, there isn't anyone else. Help more often than not hours away.
"Covered by Insurance"... but not the premium hike, the trauma, the loss of earnings, and the inevitable gap between the loss and what the insurance pay out.
You are making an assumption about what they are after. They are not going to sit there and listen to you if they have decided of their own accord that they want your life, or that such a trade is necessary for them to get the load or the truck. They are demonstrably irrational. You can sit there and say “here’s the keys”, but if they have decided that the only way they’re getting those keys is to kill you, then they’re going to try to kill you.
People who are desperate or psychopathic do not commit reasonable crimes because committing crime is usually not reasonable. You are trusting your life to the rationalizations of a very dangerous person.
You cannot reason your way out of this. You can run, fight, or die. What will you pick?
Based on what you've said ITT I don't think you're very well informed on the topic and your opinion can be disregarded by the people you have set out to argue with.
im just fucking tired of the gun posts it's all just fantasies of being robbed by some maniac who for some reason is also hell-bent on killing you, but you need a gun cos somehow you're gonna kill him first even though you keep it under the bed in storage. none of these fantasies will ever come true, but if they did, the real truth is you're a dead man whether you were armed or not. It's just delusion.
every thread has the same chain of comments anyway "judged by 12 or carried by 6" god damn you sound stupid w that shit
You will be betrayed by your butthole. You need wipes, soap, paper towels, toilet paper, and a trash bag. Most people will never need a gun. But EVERYONE will be betrayed by their butthole. Prepare yourself.
You’re right. I don’t need a gun. I want a gun. And I’m gonna buy a gun with all these miles I travel in strange places near strange people with strange motives.
You don’t need a gun until you do and you’ll be upset that you don’t got one.

RoosterzRevenge@reddit
Do you seriously think running is safer? Have you ever seen a typical American truck driver??
Whoretron8000@reddit
Lol. But yes, falling down and shitting yourself after 10 meters is safer than potentially getting shot by your own firearm.
RoosterzRevenge@reddit
I've been a gun owner for nearly 50 years, have never been shot by one of mine or any others. If you don't like guns don't get one. You do not get get to impose your mis guided fears on me.
Whoretron8000@reddit

Now, the shepherd has had some fun with some fuel theives and some stupid trucker thay decided to climb up on my steps and try to pull me out of the cab. Out of those two deals, I got me a free dewalt siphon pump, assualt charges on another driver, and lot n lots of shit eatin grins

FilthyNasty626@reddit
That sounds like that driver that tried to pull me out. Dude was coming out the entrance to a place at maybe 30 between rows of trucks parked on either side as I was turning in. Wanted to nose up to me and not backup. The ego out here is incredible. That's OK. Last Monday I hung up the keys after those 16 years and 2M safe miles. 2M is a nice number to throw in the towel. Sadly, after 40 years here, trucking is the only thing I am good at. Going to have to start at the bottom somewhere but damn, less stress is worth it!

FarmersTanAndProud@reddit
The most important bit is learn where you can and can't have a gun. You will never use it, unlike what most truckers seem to think, but you WILL get pulled over and the guy or gal pulling you over is going to LOVE the extra paperwork you just made them do when they find said gun so you better make sure you do everything right.
And if you fuck up somewhere while carrying? You're gonna meet a LOT of people :)

The guns not for the load, I don't give a fuck about the load.
The gun is for me because living in a 8x12 moving space full of my personal belongings that can be hijacked incredibly easy is a vulnerability.
You realize if you have a key to one 2012-2016 freightliner Casacadia you have a key for EVERY Casacadia model of that year.
You can cope and whine about me having a gun in my cab all you want but I'd rather have it and not need it, then need it and not have it.
spyder7723@reddit
This is not correct. Freightliner has dozens of different key codes. A lot of carriers will order the trucks they buy with the same key code, but that's not the same as all trucks of a certain make and model all having the same key code.
This is 100 percent correct. Every American citizen should have a gun and be well trained in its use.
Virel_360@reddit
There’s this neat little trick, you can use where you take any Freightliner key and you jiggle it up and down rapidly multiple times and eventually it will unlock the door. I have done this to another truck who is backing into the dock left his truck running and locked his keys in his door. I use my Freightliner key, jiggled it up and down inside the keyhole About 30 to 40 times while attempting to twist and it eventually unlocked his door. I saw YouTube video and how to do it, anybody with a key can get in your truck
TheFringedLunatic@reddit
I can personally attest to this having had to do it twice to my own ‘22 Cascadia, using the key of a rando that was nice enough to help out.
P3tr0@reddit
It's much worse on the older Freightliners, my 03 key has unlocked 8 different trucks from 01-08

Anyone on here ever had to use a gun, or been in ACTUAL need of a gun, in the course of their duties as a truck driver? Are you personally aquainted with someone who has? ( Really, not imaginary)
bsmknight@reddit
GiantEnemaCrab@reddit
There have been plenty of studies that show the chances of accidental discharge or unnecessary escalation are greater when you have a gun vs the chance that a gun will actually save your life. The chances of someone actually robbing the truck is incredibly low, and the chance of someone COMING FOR YOU instead of the cargo is basically zero. But the chance of you accidentally shooting yourself or getting paranoid and shooting a homeless man then ending up in jail is much greater.
But don't waste time trying to explain math to truck drivers, half the people here don't understand why it's bad to not get overtime pay.

GiantEnemaCrab@reddit
Yeah but most people don't rofl.
poopoomergency4@reddit
those people should train themselves on how to use the guns they bought.
it's very easy to avoid becoming the statistics by doing that.
GiantEnemaCrab@reddit
Yeah but most of them won't. That's how statistics work. Statistically most people think they're a genius action movie hero who will save the day with their handgun, but are more likely a dumb ass who will shoot themselves or a bystander, or escalate an otherwise non-lethal situation into themselves getting shot.
poopoomergency4@reddit
which brings us back to "so do those things".
GiantEnemaCrab@reddit
It means just because you think you're smarter and more skilled than other people doesn't mean you are.

A magazine in a gun doesn’t mean shit until the firearm is rendered hot. Like a nail gun with no airline, useless.
RubeRick2A@reddit
“With clips in them” ….clips….🤣
FlamingoAlert7032@reddit
You said clips. I’m out.
grimnir_music@reddit
Obviously it needs to be loaded and ready. And they are not clips. They are magazines.
KillerCam357@reddit
Nope I’m get my free one
themtoesdontmatch@reddit
Toy box killer is probably the reason why I stay strapped
elitemarxman@reddit
I don't give a rats ass about the load. I'm not sticking my neck out for the insured product of a billion dollar company, but if you break into my tractor, I'm sending you to Jesus.

"The Load & The Truck is covered by insurance"
The gun isn't to protect those you moron lmao

so much emotion over a tool. Do you feel this much estrogen over a shovel?

No one on this subreddit is physically fit enough to use a shovel.

Firearms aren't for defending property. You're attacking a straw man with this argument and it reveals how little you respect people you disagree with.
fvgh12345@reddit
Yeah because thieves always let you go of you give them what they want Not like there isn't thousands of cases and videos that show that's not true or anything

I've been driving for 2 days and have never been robbed or attacked. That means it'll never happen to you
IntelligentSeries416@reddit
Get a gun! don’t listen to these idiots. You have the right to defend yourself, if you’re a POS and wanna break into my truck you’re going to learn a very valuable lesson.
v3gas21@reddit
A lot of truckers are really, really unsafe gun owners. This needs to be rectified with classes on gun safety and proper gun ownership. Sorry to say but a lot of people don't know how to properly handle a firearm and can get themselves and innocent bystanders killed. Guns shouldn't be in the hands of untrained civilians let alone be so ubiquitous that a common criminal can get their hands on one without anything stopping them. Get your training guys and be part of the solution.
moldschlager@reddit
No regulation you can cook up will ever stop a crook
Conbon90@reddit
Fucking Americans. Cant go about their day without a gun strapped to their hip. Youd swear they where living in some sort of war zone and not the most afluent country in the western world.
you lads are actually fucking nuts.

My life is insured too, but I'll protect it , and I own the truck , castle doctrine
FinzClortho@reddit
Your life is covered by insurance too. Your family will get it.
chaoss402@reddit
Life insurance covers finances. That's it. If that's all the value you assign to your own life, you need to see a therapist about your depression issues.
FinzClortho@reddit
You don't get sarcasm do you?
chaoss402@reddit
I don't know if you are being sarcastic, but OP made the exact same argument and he isn't being sarcastic. He's either stupid or trolling, or he doesn't value his own life.
FinzClortho@reddit
I agree. I was being a smart ass.
chaoss402@reddit
Sarcasm doesn't carry over well in gun debates, when the people who hate them make every conceivable stupid argument and are doing so in all seriousness.
chaoss402@reddit
If you read the guy's posts he isn't being sarcastic. He's either stupid or trolling or he doesn't value his own life.

njwineguy@reddit
Yes. But how much do you love them?
Unintentional firearm injuries are a leading cause of death among children and adolescents in the US. (CDC)
Link
chaoss402@reddit
Do you even bother to read the abstract? Death by accidental injury is among the top causes of death, and guns are a leading cause of those injuries. Over the course of 18 years they recorded some 1200 deaths from accidental fire arms incidents. That's not a leading cause of death unless you consider a huge list of leading causes.
And considering how easy it is to be responsible with your guns, those numbers skew towards people who choose to not be responsible.
that_Delfin_guy@reddit
you're trying to appeal to the wrong crowd here. they know what guns are and how to handle them. the 4 rules of gun safety do not fail.
njwineguy@reddit
lol…first of all, your faith that everyone here is that careful is almost definitely wrong but believe what you want…I’m not trying to appeal to anyone…just offering up a fact-based perspective…
to be clear…truckers with handguns aren’t the problem…the ability to slaughter dozens in seconds with automatic, semi-automatic, and modified weapons of war is the problem
that_Delfin_guy@reddit
nope, you're still wrong. i'm not responding to you after this one. you argue in bad faith, and think you can appeal to emotion to get others on your side. but common sense will always prevail. even my little sisters know guns aren't the problem. we have a mental health problem in this country. take away the guns and people will just use cars, knives, bombs, etc. so just ban everything then? where does it end? bye.
njwineguy@reddit
You use words but say nothing:
1) how am I arguing in bad faith? 2) I’m citing statistics. Data is data. If you’re getting emotional, that’s on you. 3) your little sisters are as dumb as you are, assault weapons are not going to be replaced by the things you cite and inflict the same damage; proof? the rest of the world
But that’s okay. You keep putting your little sisters in danger. I’m sure they’re fine with it.
njwineguy@reddit
lol
Cman1200@reddit
Overwhelming majority of gun deaths are from handguns
njwineguy@reddit
The more realistic starting point is renewing the assault weapons ban - which actually worked.
Budget_Foundation747@reddit

Virel_360@reddit
Yeah, but in order for you to collect your life insurance, you’d have to be dead. The gun kinda helps your odds at beating that one.
UncleSam7476@reddit
I carry a gun because I fucking feel like and there's nothing you can do about it. You act like people aren't killed in robberies.
ultralight_ultradumb@reddit
They can have the truck and the load.
They cannot have my life.
Wildwildleft@reddit
I pack mad heat in my truck.
AverageTrainNut@reddit
My wife and my dog are not covered by insurance
Tasty_Lead_Paint@reddit
Insurance won’t save you if a hostile person is trying to kill you for whatever reason.
Not everything is covered by insurance
More claims = higher premiums = higher costs of doing business = higher costs of everything
Too many claims for everyone means no more insurance at all. Then you really will need a gun just to protect your stuff.
Outlaw11091@reddit
Statistically speaking, if someone breaks into your truck with malicious intent, you're not going to have time to reach for your gun.
Life doesn't pause for you to get ready.
Top-Sheepherder-3657@reddit
Based on what you've said ITT I don't think you're very well informed on the topic and your opinion can be disregarded by the people you have set out to argue with.
atticthump@reddit
im just fucking tired of the gun posts it's all just fantasies of being robbed by some maniac who for some reason is also hell-bent on killing you, but you need a gun cos somehow you're gonna kill him first even though you keep it under the bed in storage. none of these fantasies will ever come true, but if they did, the real truth is you're a dead man whether you were armed or not. It's just delusion.
every thread has the same chain of comments anyway "judged by 12 or carried by 6" god damn you sound stupid w that shit

You’re right. I don’t need a gun. I want a gun. And I’m gonna buy a gun with all these miles I travel in strange places near strange people with strange motives.
You don’t need a gun until you do and you’ll be upset that you don’t got one.
