PSU: Thermaltake 700W
CPU: I7 7700k
GPU: 1060 6Gb
Motherboard: ASUS PRIME Z270-A
HD: Solidigm P44
RAM: 32Gb DDR4 3600
I recently bought a 1440p high refresh rate monitor and want to take better advantage of it.
I mainly play valorant and do a bit of software development which leads me to just upgrading the CPU/motherboard at this point but also don't want to limit myself down the line if I want to upgrade my gpu as well. I'm not in a rush so I'm wondering if it's better to wait for a sale on higher end CPU/motherboard bundles or just get a mid range bundle now? Would mid range CPU's support 1440p gaming going forward well?

Cheapest solution is a nice GPU that will end up being bottlenecked by the rest of the system.
If you want to upgrade the CPU you'll need a new motherboard.
Id probably find the best GPU,CPU, motherboard combo that fits in the case if you don't want to go all new

You probably should have upgraded your whole system before the monitor.
If you want new parts I'm team rebuild, if your fine with used you can get a 5600 and b450/b550 and a 6700XT for around $400-$250

Rebuild, you'd have to upgrade basically everything.
