I got one of these a while back for a lightweight 14.5 build. BA Hanson barrel, BCM mod comp, aluminum angled grip. It's one of my favorites to give to a new shooter

It doesn't feel like I would let Uncle Bill do pullups on it, but it also doesn't feel like it's gonna bend in half. On a short rifle, and a free float barrel, this thing is great as a range piece, or even light "duty". Your handguard doesn't see very much stress unless you are really getting physical with your stuff.
It won't be a problem for heavy firing, or even banging around in the truck. But I wouldnt use it as department issue, or given to a bunch of GI's.
I have a BCM MCMR 12 inch, and Criterion Core barrel for my "heavy duty" rifle(pistol).

I love it fully hogged out and little to no excess. That said… WTF if the point of a full lengthy pic rail up top on a skeletonized guard?
The while point is lightweight and air flow. Give me enough top rail for BUIS and that’s it

Maybe it's like a vented rib on a shotgun? That rail might help minimize the amount of heat shimmer coming off the barrel in the optic path.

Right but why not have it be a flat top vs pic rail ribs? That way it has a back bone but minimal weight.

Why not just mill the pic portions off and just have a flat piece of steel? A hair less weight and easier smooth top
