We don’t even all like the same English language music, why would we like the same foreign language music? Different folks different strokes and all that
HenshinDictionary@reddit
Case in point, I'm a fluent German speaker, yet I think Rammstein, a very popular German band, barely even qualifies as music.

Rocky-bar@reddit
There's this very old (wartime?) French song I like- - Non, je ne regrette rien by Edith Piaf
lilybottle@reddit
There are so many great Edith Piaf songs that I love - La Vie en Rose, La Foule, Hymne à l'Amour, Milord...
I find it hard to choose just one, she had such a special voice.
Rocky-bar@reddit
Oh, I will have to listen to these, I only know Non, je ne regrette rien and La vie en Rose. Yeah a very special voice, very emotional.
daddy-dj@reddit
Came out in the mid-1950s, so yeah it's very old but it was 10 years after the end of the war.
Rocky-bar@reddit
Ah, ok, I was thinking it's got a wartime kinda vibe for some reason.
daddy-dj@reddit
Yes, I know what you mean. To be fair, she was a singer during the war. It's just that song that came out after it.
blahajlife@reddit

Major_Toe_6041@reddit
It’s quite fun to play in a brass band too.
tommycamino@reddit
The lyrics of the original German version tell a story: 99 balloons are mistaken for UFOs, causing a military general to send pilots to investigate. Finding nothing but balloons, the pilots put on a large show of firepower. The display of force worries the nations along the borders and the defense ministers on each side encourage conflict to grab power for themselves. In the end, a cataclysmic war results from the otherwise harmless flight of balloons and causes devastation on all sides without a victor, as indicated in the denouement of the song: "99 Jahre Krieg ließen keinen Platz für Sieger," which means "99 years of war left no room for victors." The anti-war song finishes with the singer walking through the devastated ruins of the world and finding a single balloon.

"Comment te dire adieu" is one. The rhyme scheme is ABAB... with the A lines ending in syllables pronounced "ex" and the B lines ending in the syllables pronounced "eu" (as in "adieu"). As it is about an ended relationship, "ex" is appropriate.

My friend owns a bar. After hours (usually about midnight), he often locks the door, pulls down the blinds, and cracks a bottle of whiskey while just the two of us sit at the counter with the lights down low and smoke cigars and shed a single manly tear over how life’s turned out. This is what we listen to.

For the former, I'd say 'Ca plane pour moi' by Plastic Bertrand just because its a fucking banger for driving.
For the latter, it'd have to be 'Deutschland' by Rammstein because its a song that helped me understand and recognise another nation's people's struggle to with loving their nation and their home in spite of its terrible history and the difficulty in forging a new national identity that recognises the past while also striving for a better future. It's an incredibly powerful song, imo.

"Kayama" by Karl Jenkins, the composer of the "Adiemus" New Age music albums.
Unlike probably all the posts here, the so-called "language" used in this song is a made-up language, using a lot of vowel sounds. So, the lyrics themselves are actually nothing but gibberish, but they are sung by a very good female choir, the lead singer of which was Miriam Stockley.
"Kayama" is best played with the volume turned waaay up, so you can feel the power within the track!

Nippon Manju...
It's by a Japanese band called Ladybaby which is made of 2 young girls and an Australian male wrestler who wears Japanese schoolgirl outfits. The girls are traditional J-Pop where he sings to a metal theme and somehow it works.

Serious, answer - I'm into, and work in, dance music, so there's lots of choice and it changes quite regularly. A firm favourite from this year has to be this - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5m-GTedQ7Hg

LordEmostache@reddit
Are they the same band that did the music video about everyone dying at a circus which is in reverse?
AbuBenHaddock@reddit
Yes!
The videos for 'in Peter, we drink', 'ЗОЖ', and the one about the guy's wife being on holiday have equally good production values, but are considerably less gruesome 😂 (except ЗОЖ)
