What would be the clothing brands of choice of a middle class / upper middle class American woman in her 30s?

What clothing stores would such American women go to for everyday clothes, or non-formal regular office wear (presuming she works a white collar job)?

Not a woman but have traveled a lot and have many friends and family who are immigrants and/or live abroad. Americans are generally way less concerned with specific labels and designers compared to Europeans and people from Latin America, in my experience. We are more likely to have a favorite store than a favorite label. For middle class Americans, it is often seen as frivolous or gauche to flaunt designer labels. It's a bit "new money." Whereas many Europeans of similar means have several designer pieces and would not hesitate to buy (for instance) glasses that say "Prada" across the entire arm. A lot of people also buy off-year or otherwise discounted clothes at places like Nordstrom Rack & TJ Maxx/Marshall's, where you don't expect to see the same labels every time.
The big exceptions are sneakers and activewear. Nike & Adidas have rabid followings, and many popular newer activewear brands like Lululemon are prestige-coded.

Honestly, I get a lot of stuff at Costco

I mostly wear band shirts, or athletic ware for my job. I just bought 4 shirts for $10 each at my local Kroger and I really like them 🤷🏼♀️

I like the deals so I do a lot of my shopping at Marshall’s, TJ Max, Ross, Burlington and The Rack.

I’ve been feeling Quince lately. It’s so hard to find things that fit my 38 year old bod correctly these days.

Garnet Hill, Veronica Beard, J Crew, Quince, Everlane, Lululemon, Anthropologie, Boden

I never though I'd say it, but I like StitchFix. I loathe shopping, and know nothing about fashion. When you set up an account, they ask a few 'this or that' questions to better learn your style and help with suggestions. They send you a box of like seven or eight pieces, and anything you get that you don't like can be sent back in the mail. I used it exclusively for office wear, but they do casual, shoes, accessories, and jewelry, too

My wife is in her 40s and for years has shopped at Anthropologie and Lululemon.

For classy, standard-issue officewear I see a lot of Talbot's and Ann Taylor. Not super fancy or unique, but always appropriate.
jennyrules@reddit
Talbots is more of the 50+ crowd.
MyUsername2459@reddit
Yeah, my mom is in her late 60's and loves Talbots.
tarheel_204@reddit
My grandmother is obsessed with Talbots but my mom (late 50s) is also pretty into it as well

Took a look at our credit card statement, looks like Lululemon, Victoria’s Secret, H&M, and Express. That’s just in the last month, there’s more I’m sure.
Idk, her job is weird, some days she dresses up and has a Gucci belt and fancy jewelry, other days it’s leggings and a tshirt. Idk.

Individual style factors heavily here, more so than socioeconomics.

My credit card statement tells me my wife likes shopping at urban outfitters, Neiman Marcus, Alo, LuLu lemon and Dillards.
bananapanqueques@reddit
Urban Outfitters is a bit surprising.

They've aged up a bit to follow the millennials, kinda like Abercrombie did

Nordstrom Rack, Marshalls, Uniqlo, Anthropologie, Old Navy, Target

I'm 41, so a little older than you're looking for, but I get my clothes at a huge variety of places: Anthropologie, Free People, Nordstrom, Target, Old Navy, Amazon (no specific brands), Show Me Your Mumu, White House Black Market, Ann Taylor Loft, Aritzia, Madewell, J. Crew, Universal Standard, H&M, and Gap are some of my go-tos. I also enjoy discount stores like TJ Maxx (the US equivalent of TK Maxx), Marshall's, and Nordstrom Rack.
titianwasp@reddit
Johnny Was, Anthropologie, House of Bruar, Neimans & Saks both have decent self-branded lines for basics. TheFoldLondon has lovely pieces for work and going out.

I’m 41, but I don’t even know what brands I buy. I just Amazon everything.

Brands are somewhat irrelevant. Pick items that fit your body type and personal style, regardless of the name on the label.

My wife makes low 6 figures in an office job for a very large company. She's 43 and has an eclectic style that includes a lot of blazers and dress pants of various different fits that she gets complimented on pretty regularly.
She buys her clothes from a variety of places, including Amazon, Nordstrom (Rack), Target, Rue21, The Buckle, Dillard's, JC Penny, Ross, Marshall's, H&M, Express, The Gap, and more.
She doesn't really care at all about brands and labels, she just looks for style and fit.
