Dragon Age Veilguard is coming out soon, and i want to build my girlfriend a pc that can run on high/ultra graphics. Only requirements is it has a white case and has some RGB aspects to the fans. I dont know a lot about this so any help will do. Budget wise im hoping to keep below 2k. She currently has Processor-12th gen i5-12400 Gpu- amd Radeon 6600 Ram- 16 And about 1tb of storage

So this gf, is she in the room with us right now?

Recommended:
Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
OS: 64 bit Windows 10/11
Processor: Intel Core i9-9900K / AMD Ryzen 7 3700X* (see notes)
Memory: 16 GB RAM
Graphics: NVIDIA RTX 2070 / AMD Radeon RX 5700XT
DirectX: Version 12
Storage: 100 GB available space
Additional Notes: SSD Required; AMD CPUs on Windows 11 require AGESA V2 1.2.0.7
that pc is good enough according to the recommended requirements
Crimbustime@reddit
Get her like a Nvidia 590 or something. If you want it to look good you probably don’t want to see the Tumour head Qunari.
N0body@reddit
The PC she currently has is still very decent. IMHO, there's no reason for a whole PC upgrade, just throw a better GPU in there and call it a day.
SlinkDink69@reddit (OP)
She just wants really good graphics lmao. So a better graphics card will do?
Mythdome@reddit
Upgrade the GPU and make sure the PSU is Gold certified or better. No need to upgrade the CPU/Mobo, the performance upgrade doesn’t justify the cost.
Builderi23@reddit
Gold certified doesn’t mean much. Choose a nice PSU from cultists tier list.
Xcissors280@reddit
get one from the teir list, they arent expensive
N0body@reddit
Yes. Other components are decent, the GPU is the main thing that holds it back. Look where Radeon 6600 is on the GPU Hierarchy charts https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gpu-hierarchy,4388.html
I think the best GPU I would throw in there is GeForce 4070 TI Super ($800) or Radeon RX 7900 GRE ($550) and there's no need to build a whole new PC. Of course, you could go for something cheaper, 4060TI 16 GB ($450) or RX 7700XT ($390) would also be a great upgrade.

The system requirements table for Dragon Age Veilguard recommend an RTX 3080 for 30fps at 1440p resolution with ray tracing enabled (these are demanding settings but I assume that’s what you want). So for a smoother frame rate you probably want something better, like an RTX 4070 Ti Super or maybe even an RTX 4080. We’ll have a better idea once the game releases.
As for CPU, they’ve listed the i9-9900K for 60fps, it is similar to your current i5-12400F so you should be fine. RAM requirement is only 16GB as well.
You can get a white case and white CPU cooler and it will basically look like a new PC. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/FMvsbL Total $1035.34 (2024-10-15 16:58 EDT-0400)
Xcissors280@reddit
4070 TI Super is the way to go
maybe add more ram if she needs it
if you really want to i guess you can swap the CPU and mobo for AM5
jonek1999@reddit
Case: NZXT H6 Flow white (get non RGB version cause RGB fans are not the best)
CPU: Ryzen 7 5700X3D, IF you can afford also changing motherboard OR i7-12700F (or KF if you can find a good price)
Motherboard (only if you switch to Ryzen): Asus Rog Strix B550-A
CPU cooler (only if you switch to Ryzen): Thermalright Peerless Assassin White 120
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 32GB DDR4 3200 MHz CL16 White (try to get the SL version because they're a bit shorter so it doesn't interfere with the CPU cooler
GPU: RTX 3060 12GB (if you prefer more VRAM) or RTX 4060 (if you prefer a newer card)
PSU: Corsair RM850 80 Plus Gold - it's white and fully modular
Storage: If the 1TB of storage is HDD then you HAVE to change it! If it's an SSD then I'd keep it and just get a NVMe 1TB disk - Samsung 990 Pro OR 980 Pro OR Crucial P3 Pro.
I hope this covers all the basics :)
In my region (Europe) I could get those parts for about 1168 EUR. So if you still have budget left you can also go for a 4070 Ti Super and/or a Ryzen 9 5900XT - with both options the price would be 1932 EUR.
FriskyPhysio@reddit
Why tf would you buy a new 3060 in late 2024 when the 6750 xt is a thing? Why would you spend south of 1200 euros for a system with a DDR4 socket instead of going AM5? Why would you go for a 120 euros case that doesn't come with a back fan while there are cheap but good options like the Phanteks XT pro ultra that comes already with 4 fans? Why would you go for a freaking 850W PSU on a system that would run on 550W and has no room for CPU upgrades since the 5700X3D and 12700f are close to the best you can get on their respective socket?
This makes no sense, sorry.

Look, I am an amateur, I tried to help and that is just my opinion. Also I know there’s AM5 - I even upgraded recently but stayed on AM4 because for the same price as the R5 7600X I got the R9 5900X which has double the cores and beats it in performance even if the 7000 series has DDR5 RAM (verified by GamerNexus). So I decided to skip AM5 and will probably go for AM6 when it comes out. Additionaly I found a brand new RTX 4060 OC for 300€ which is a steal in my opinion and I didn’t have a huge budget.
I decided for the H6 Flow because it has amazing airflow in addition to looking really nice and being a not-too-huge dual chamber case.
Feel free to recommend your own parts list for him, maybe he’ll have a better experience with yours.

I want to start by saying that I didn't want to be rude. I'm happy you're starting to get into the hobby or just getting more information about pc hardware :)
I stand by my point, and I want to say this in the nicest way possible: your configuration makes 0 sense.
The first thing you should consider is the budget, and you went for 1150 EUR more or less. Let's stick with that.
As stated previously, that budget's high enough for AM5. AM4 is great and if you're on a tight budget or maybe looking to upgrade an older system, that's neat, but if we're buying new we might as well get our money's worth. So let's just get the standard mid range components: - a decent B650 mobo with decent VRMs - 32 gb of ddr5 6000 CL30 - a single tower cpu cooler (you didn't include that, but you need one if you don't wanna hover around 80°) - the 7600X that costs just 20 euros more than the 7600. - 1TB nvme ssd
For the PSU, if we were building a budget AM4 pc, I'd go with the very cheap and very good MSI MAG 550, but since we're going with a configuration that will be a good starting point for upgrades in the future, let's go with 750W in case they want to put a 7800X3D and a 5080S in the future.
For the case I'd stick with the phanteks but you do you, aesthetics are subjective.
For the GPU I'd go for the 6750 xt. It's on par with the 4060 ti on 1080p, and costs 120 euros less. Which is a big amount considering the 4060 ti is a 450 euros card..
The total is about 1100, precisely 1081 EUR, for a far better system.

Xcissors280@reddit
the 3060 isnt any better than the current GPU and the 4060 barely is
the rest of this is barely better than the current build and has litterally zero upgrade options
SilentPhysics3495@reddit
Just toss a new GPU in that rig. According to the specs, it seems literally anything above a 6600 will be a decent enough upgrade.
Wonderful-Poetry860@reddit
What resolution does she play on; that would dictate what you're looking for? Below 4k, just get a 4070 Super/Ti Super (if funds allow) if you're looking to switch to team green, or 7800XT/7900GRE if you want to stay with AMD. Since you've not listed her PSU that may need to be replaced as well because GPU power usage is just silly nowadays, if that's the case refer to The PSU Cultist list and pick one that has a decent rating.
And if really want to go all out for your GF you could also bump up her RAM to a dual channel 32GB set, and get her some more storage with a decent Gen 4 NVME in addition.
Hungry_Reception_724@reddit
Honestly you dont need a new system. Throw even something like a 4070ti or 7800xt in there and you will get your High/Ultra graphics. That CPU is more than good enough.
What display do you have? This will also play a large factor. If you are hitting 1080p or 1440p no issues, 4k is something else and IMHO 4k is kind of a waste unless you have a 32"+ monitor.
