Give me unemployment

I've been working at this place for about 3 years I relocated South so it's a 1 hour commute plus the way they load my flatbed is unsafe bundles constantly break and pallets are not wrap properly. I've talked to the bosses many times it sounds like they listen but same thing happens over and over I really don't want to walk out the door I want to get fired and get unemployment what can I do guys to be eligible for unemployment?I'm a flatbed driver I'm tired of being worried and jeopardizing safety out of all things I just had enough I'm not trying to be lazy or anything I figured unemployment will give you time to look for a job without having to rush and take the next thing I could find. The company I work for is decent they have good benefits but the safety thing I know it's all my responsibility I want out

We don’t get unemployment unless we’re union and get laid off half the year. You can never say you can’t find a job. Move on man, all of our former jobs were like that and worse. Ever tried to get a trucking job when they find out you were on unemployment? We have no rights man, it’s just how it is, go union if ya want that. Good luck

I got unemploymebt long ago for getting couple tickets plus you can lie on resume
Ok_Bug_6470@reddit
Yeh, so a lot of trucking companies will consider you receiving that or workers comp an absolute no go for hire. Lots of fraud in the biz. And they will actually speak or email with someone from your company. Not legal and it’s sketch but it’s an absolute thing. Plus lying on a resume will get you canned. Maybe a year from now something happens or someone doesn’t like you, not grounds for firing but they’ll say you lied on your resume md you’re gone that day. Sounds crazy but people in office live for this shit. All depends on what ya want but I’d suck it up and move on, all my best jobs came from a shit situation that was a band aid tear when I left. Good luck
oasuke@reddit
I had no problem finding another trucking job after being on worker's Comp for 3 months due to a chemical burn. I've also been on unemployment multiple times. No idea where you got this info from. If your records are clean you will find work.

I put my cool Co workers or friends family on resume as supervisors I mess with dates all time they never call I always get hired I used to switch jobs often. I got different resumes with different experiences this industry doesn't deserve honest loyalty. Honestly want out if trucking but that's all I know past 12 years. Especially smaller companies which I prefer they just hire u based on interview and driving record. I don't do Megas
Ok_Bug_6470@reddit
Yeh so a lot of small companies do work w the megas. I had my dearest and oldest friend as a contact on my resume and I couldn’t get hired for like three months for jobs I was qualified for all day. Turns out he was sandbagging me so I couldn’t afford to hang out with a girl I had started seeing bc he developed a thing for her. 20 yrs and military brothers w that dude., Jus sayin. Yeh man I dip in and out and take a year or two off when I get a better gig but my references are immaculate bc of it. Some companies care but 99% don’t. If ya hate it that bad, which I get 100%, then bail bro. Bail right the fuck now bc you’ll end up finding a job that pays just enough to make it worth your while to stay in it. It’s not getting any better.
HeywoodJaBlowMe123@reddit
Just look for another job while you’re at this one. I get it, you want out, but it took you 3 years to come to that conclusion. So if you are able to tough it out for 30 days tops (If your record is clean, with 3 years experience you’re fine)
For safety, don’t run anything unsafe. If they want you to, document everything.
brsrafal@reddit (OP)
I have one cell phone ticket in the past 3 years besides that I'm clean and I have over 10 years of experience. I run local and lately after covid the hourly pay just went down for some reason I've been getting calls for like $28 an hour which where I live in Northeast is completely garbage. I make over 30 now so it's hard to take a pay cut you know what I mean but the hour commute fucking sucks
HeywoodJaBlowMe123@reddit
How much over 30?
What i’m trying to say is, depending on what you’re driving to work and back, you’re costing yourself quite a bit in gas anyways so you’re shorting yourself with your current pay a little bit anyways.
You were also considering unemployment which is a larger pay cut than $28.
Just some things to think about. Write a list of pros and cons if that helps, but i’d definitely stick with your current gig until you have something lined up. The unemployment route just doesn’t seem feasible
darral27@reddit
Unemployment pays shit. Why would you want that? If you want to play that game hurt your knee or back. Most everybody driving a truck has damage in their knees and back anyway.
LloydAsher0@reddit
I mean you can help mitigate that by having good posture, lumbar support pillow and readjusting your seat. Not to say this job doesn't give you a crap back or knees but you can greatly stave off those effects by sitting correctly.
ResponsibilityTop732@reddit
I was just about to say the same thing. Just not in those words.
LloydAsher0@reddit
How would you have worded it?
ResponsibilityTop732@reddit
More vulgar than. Because potty mouth. Last time I got too vulgar Reddit spanked me because someone got offended
LloydAsher0@reddit
Geez really? What a crowd of wet blankets. I've only been watching my mouth because I realized I shouldn't be using swears as adjectives.
I was a sailor and now I'm a truck driver. Literally no employment reason to watch my language... Until now and I have a very real possibility for it to fuck me up that now I'm in line to be promoted to a supervisor for not being professional enough.
ResponsibilityTop732@reddit
I'm with you, brother. I was also in the military hence my very potty mouth.
Ornery_Ads@reddit
Sounds like a local job.
Schedule 1 day/week off in the manner that you are supposed to schedule time off, and use that 1 day/week to find another job and do interviews.
Get a solid job offer, then put in your 2 weeks, then change jobs.
I don't see how unemployment needs to get involved at all.
Fluid_Location_9608@reddit
If I’m looking for another job I’m at the point where if I get an interview I’m just not going to work that day.
2 weeks….meh
RoosterzRevenge@reddit
It does if you're lazy and don't want to work.
brsrafal@reddit (OP)
Hey I've been working hard non-stop for over 10 years I could use a break recover my body heal my pains plus I could job search in peace and not feel rushed drive around hand out my resume apply all that. I don't feel no guilt taking unemployment this country waste so much tax money overseas and on other useless shit. So I feel zero guilt whatsoever
Ornery_Ads@reddit
Okay, so put in your two weeks and quit. No one is requiring you to work. As long as you can pay your bills on your own with your own money, we're all for you taking a sabbatical.
santanzchild@reddit
Anything that could get you unemployment would also prevent you from moving on to a higher tier of carrier. Find a new job and stop looking for handouts.
brsrafal@reddit (OP)
Screw big carrier I work for smaller companies no mega don't want camera lookin at me picking my nose
santanzchild@reddit
What about higher tier says mega to you?
Clitoris_King@reddit
What I did was take pictures and videos of everything that’s unsafe and then just refuse to drive. They will either fire you, or like I did I quit because of unsafe conditions. I sent the pics and videos with dates and times. My unemployment got accepted
brsrafal@reddit (OP)
I have whole folder even screenshots me telling my bosses
Castros0815@reddit
Call DOT on yourself and tell him to put you out of service for unsafe load. It'll get to the higher up when the load doesn't get there...
Objective-Outcome811@reddit
Here's your fine
The-Shartist@reddit
Yup. According to Johnny Law, it's the driver's responsibility.
No_Poet7757@reddit
If they were a good company you wouldn't have to worry. Welcome to todays America.
clairered27@reddit
Refuse the loads don't leave with them until you feel safe to do so. They will either fix them or get fed up with ya.
