My B550-A pro CPU debug light is on (5700x3D) despite testing system with another CPU

Before installing the CPU I tested the system with another CPU and installed the latest BIOS from MSI (non beta version) no matter what I do the new CPU (5700x3d) won’t post and I only get a black screen on the monitor and debug light for the CPU still on I’m on windows 10 and had xmp for my ram on 3600mhz

Update: I remove one stick of ram then the debug LED is on VGA I’m totally lost the gpu is fine

hmmm sounds like its not giving out enough lanes so its stable with the cpu you used to update the bios what type of memory do you have

Ballistic cl16 3600mhs and it’s new

This might be the issue. MSI motherboards tend to favor SK Hynix modules, so that leaves G.Skill and TeamGroup as the most compatible RAM - especially at 3600Mhz. But even then, it should POST at 2144Mhz from the start. You need at least the 7C56vAD BIOS to support the 5700X3D but I recommend 7C56vAH instead ...
If you can get it to boot and POST with an older CPU, use M-Flash to update to the vAH BIOS and then try the 5700X3D again. If you can't get it to post, the CPU is probably a dud ...

Do you recommend updating to that bios then turning off xmp? I still have time before returning it

Yeah, it's worth a shot. My 5600 runs 32gb of TeamGroup T-Force Vulcan DDR 3600mhz no problem (2x4) and it ran 16gb of G.Skill FlareX 3200 for 2 years prior. Two dimms is better than four because it doesn't stress the memory controller that much ...

also if you put one of the sticks in the 4th slot what does it do
o3zizox@reddit (OP)
4th slot from the right or left
NecroDesLife@reddit
furthest from the cpu socket right next to the atx psu connection. it will be the cpu second memory channel

I cleared the cmos and moved the ram there but nothing changed still LED on CPU
NecroDesLife@reddit
so if you put the cpu that you used to update. back into the system it post yes? if it does with out fiddling then something is wrong with the 5700x3d

Will try that after dinner my back is broken rn
NecroDesLife@reddit
no problem anyone back will ach and a stabing pain in the head after Troubleshooting pc problems just when you do get to it just leave the motherboard out of the case so you can quickly test things
o3zizox@reddit (OP)
Now I put the old CPU in and the debug led disappeared and everything turned on like keyboard and mouse but I’m getting a black screen on my monitor with a no signal detection
NecroDesLife@reddit
Have you left your gpu in the top slot and reset CMOS is your old CPU 3 or 4 gen
o3zizox@reddit (OP)
It’s fixed now (I switched to hdmi) so I think the problem is the new cpu because everything works fine now on the old one
NecroDesLife@reddit
also if that does not work another thing we can try is more the graphics card done to the second slot so its controlled by the chipset and not the CPU just to continue to rule things out here but keeping the memory in slot b2

So sorry if these questions are like a tennis court
