Checkride is over a month out...

Checkride is late-November. Graduated from a 141 PPL program last week. Trying to stay sharp in the meantime, flying roughly 1x per week and watching mock checkrides. My actual mock with check instructor went pretty well ( a few things to tidy up but nothing major). Trying to look for other DPEs as well who might be able to meet sooner.
My question is this: I'm really anxious to get started on Instrument. Would I be jumping the gun in starting the ground portion for that now? So long as I stay on top of PPL material?

I have a client with two checkrides scheduled for February. Not by choice.

I am going to play devils advocate - yes stay focused and proficient! That being said - getting ahead of Instrument by doing things like completing your IRA / FII exams are beneficial!
I have been successful in using my checkride wait times to get ahead of the next phase and it has kept me “ahead” of my program immensely!
If you feel comfortable with it, then I’d recommend knocking that AKT out :)

Yes, you would be jumping the gun.
If you want to do something useful, go do some solo XC flights. Include some Private maneuvers on each leg. You’ll gain competence and confidence.
This will help you short term and it’s PIC XC towards the IFR requirement.

Late November is not very far. When it’s two weeks out you’ll be happy you didn’t spend any brain power on instrument stuff.
Jason shappert has audiobooks on Amazon that more or less reads the ppl blue book to you and it’s worth it since it’s something different. I wouldn’t listen to it for more than 20 or 30 minutes a day though. Perfect for driving to the airport before a flight. Search for “pass your private pilot checkride” audiobook.

Yes. Your only priority as of today is to maintain proficiency until the checkride, nothing else.

I appreciate the feedback, and you're right. One thing at a time.

Any time you're spending on learning instrument material would be better used preparing for your PPL checkride, even if it's just reviewing the same information you already know.

Don't go confusing things yet. Remain focused on your upcoming checkride. Once you have your temporary in hand, go fly a couple times for fun.. then get started on the next bit.
Right now you need to make sure you first pass the first hurdle.
