FPS Drops for no reason i can think of.

Hello, for some reason my PC is having alot of fps drops on games like Wuthering Waves, Zenless Zone Zero, NFS: Unbound
although i have a pretty decent PC
i got an RTX 2060
Ryzen 5 5600
16 GBs of ram DDR4 ( 2400 MHZ Speed )
MSI b450m-a pro max motherboard
I don't think i have a bottleneck
and my temps are pretty good
max on these games was 80 for the cpu and 85 for the gpu
so what exactly is causing my fps drops?
Videnskabsmanden@reddit
2400 mhz ram is kneecapping your cpu

what would be the optimal ram speed?
Videnskabsmanden@reddit
3600 cl16

Are you running those games from a harddrive and not an SSD? I know wuthering waves had issues with running from HDD.
NotNetix@reddit (OP)
Yea both of them are on HDD since i have no storage on my SSD

its pretty likely the issue, the other one being CPU temp being a bit high for those games on a 5600, the chip is sipping power so you have some thermal issue somewhere, either bad cooler pressure or case airflow.

i mean it rarely reaches 80 it usually sits on 70 - 75 so i don't think its thermal throttling no?
ArtsM@reddit
yeah it should be fine as long as you don't hit 84, where it will start throttling hard. I do think your main issue is harddrives

Make sure you have your GPU in the PCIe slot closest to your CPU on your motherboard. Waaaaaaaaayyyyy back when destiny 2 came with the 1080, I was wondering why it was running like ass until I made the switch to the highest-bandwidth slot.
NotNetix@reddit (OP)
I never knew about this!, but my gpu is already in the PCIe slot closest to my cpu

In that case, the very first things I'd check would be your power management at the PC level ("choose a power plan" and make sure you have performance selected). I'd also look at updating your drivers for that graphics card. Wouldn't hurt to open Nvidia Control Panel and make sure everything is normal there, too.

2400Mhz certainly isn’t helping. Is that 1x16gb or 2x8gb?
NotNetix@reddit (OP)
2x8gb

Ok, that’s good
