Product Recommendations (RMM/VPN)

Hi All,
Hoping to get some recommendations for an RMM tool and a VPN provider.
RMM - We currently manage about 1000 devices, about 60/40 Windows vs Mac. Currently using Intune and Jamf but looking for a unified tool for patch management, remote support, inventory management. We have a few in mind currently: Tanium, Atera, NinjaOne, Kaseya, and Lansweeper.
VPN - Currently using PrivateInternetAccess but it's a nightmare to manage. We have a bit of a unique requirement where we need a lot of flexibility when choosing a gateway. PIA offers a gateway in all 50 states and most countries, and other providers I've found don't have as large of an offering.

I'm not sure about the VPN, sounds like we're missing some info about what you're really trying to accomplish. For an RMM, VSA X is great for a mixed environment since it has an MDM and supports Windows, Mac and Linux. It's not as feature rich as Jamf or Addigy, but if you have ABM and just need to manage iOS devices it works great. You'll also save some money.

VSA works great, especially very useful to us because we have a mixed environment.

I would go for Atera rather than Ninja, Lansweeper or Kasey as it has more features that you may find useful later (but probably very quickly), however if you are looking for a cost effective and decent tool for the job in your post try looking at PDQ.

Could you give a few examples of the features you're referring to?

Well, e.g. Ninja is just RMM system, Atera goes beyond that and you can use it as internal service desk same well as MSP helpdesk, they are now adding some ITAM features as well so you will have litterary single platform for the most of the daily work, the back bone compare to mentioned competitor is price but you have capabilities almost 3 tools in one. I would not go to Lansweeper since you will get just some limited capabilities of what you need, (Lansweeper is powerfull network scann, probably of the best I know, but its not pure RMM and ITAM - which some people mistakenly confuse). PDQ

If I can name one good product that falls into the same category "that goes above and beyond" I would say Pulseway is a good choice as well.
DerryHuin@reddit
I wouldn't go with Ninja either, because it's too expensive.

I switched from PrivateInternetAccess to ExpressVPN and am satisfied with the change. For my RMM needs, I use Pulseway, which is user-friendly and pretty solid.
IB_AM@reddit
Pulseway its great its a RMM has many useful features.
oddeeea@reddit
I have VSA X, which is good and I use NordVPn, wich does the job.
ESCASSS@reddit
Datto is what we used for RMM, which its great and offers valuable features. For VPN, ExpressVPN is a solid option with multiple location settings and straightforward configuration.

Also take a look at Level.io which has Windows, Mac, and Linux support. It has patch management, monitoring, scripting/automations, etc, so it meets the needs of what you've described.

Check out SecOps Solution at https://secopsolution.com. It’s easy to use, budget-friendly, and offers comprehensive VM, patching, script execution, and software deployment with no device limits.

Just curious but why are you using PIA as your VPN? You’re routing all company data through a 3rd party system that you have no control over. Yes, I know that 90% of traffic is encrypted these days, but still.
Why not have an endpoint that you control?
ecp710@reddit (OP)
Its only assigned to specific users for market research purposes. We needed something that gave us the ability to connect in specific states/countries vs regions. A few other services we looked at offered most but not all of the locations we needed.
thecomputerguy7@reddit
Genuine question but why not use a VPS somewhere? Using a consumer grade VPN isn’t going to give you an accurate “real world” experience since most of those endpoints are known and blocked by many services, including Reddit.
ecp710@reddit (OP)
It's something I've considered but don't currently have the bandwidth to support something like that, so we're looking for a turnkey solution.
thecomputerguy7@reddit
Honestly the trouble with managing it is because it’s really not designed for enterprise or even professional use.
I’m glad you’re making it work, but you could spin up some virtual Wireguard servers in no time at all using something like WG-Easy

Most would be utterly amazed even with most everything point to point being encrypted what you leak.
I recently saw Nord advertise this as well, meshing your whole mobile workforce through their service.
Albeit in principal a decentralized VPN concentrator is neither novel not inherently insecure. But using a generic consumer service to do it, seems borderline lunacy IMHO.
ecp710@reddit (OP)
It has a very specific use case, we're not routing all traffic through PIA.
BWMerlin@reddit
If you are okay with replacing Intune and Jamf then Workspace ONE will do everything you asked though AFAIK they don't have a VPN product.

Not looking to switch off of Intune/Jamf, just to augment and unify the features I had listed.
