What's the difference between eating fish and cows/pigs/chickens though? Shouldn't we "start looking at land as an ecosystem" as well by this logic? I just think it's a bit silly of a statement to single it out when there are sustainable possibilities with everything.

It took the USA being affected my the ozone layer hole before they decided to take action and ban CFCs. When it was just "poor" countries it was ignored. Sadly, any action on CO2 is still going to take tens of thousands of years to make a difference.

Exactly but when it’s planet threatening we are still more wall street oriented. I can totally see a future where SRM kills monsoon or decides to nuke Arctic to kill AMOC to keep methane in permafrost. But making meaningful sacrifices to save the planet, never!

When I lived in South Korea it was a nightly thing to see the squid boats lined up on the horizon like a glowing Pearl necklace every single night.
Their seafood is off the charts and it hurts my heart that it won’t be the same if I ever get to return and eat my way around the country. Korea food is the best.
But it wouldn’t hurt them to use some regulation in regards to time of year to fish certain species or how much can be taken total. Otherwise they risk losing it all- or faster than expected since the warmth of the ocean is only going to raise for the rest of our lifetimes.

The average cost of seafood jumped by 14 percent compared to last year in Korea. In general, coastal fishing production is down by a lot compared to past decades and it will only fall further as oceans warm and fish stocks are continually exploited.

It will be much worse in The Philippines as their reefs die off and decay from ocean acidification. As much as half of the population's protein comes from the sea.

Oh man. I was wondering if I should splurge on a McDonald's filet-o-fish meal while it's available. But I think I'll just buy some farmed salmon, a loaf of sourdough, some mayonnaise and a cola next time in the store. Call it one of the last meals before the seas run empty.
