CPU vs GPU Upgrade for valorant

Should I upgrade my CPU or GPU? I am currently running around 140-200 fps in game but I am currently looking to upgrade from 144hz monitor to 240-280hz capable monitor. I want to fully utilize the monitor by being able to pull the same or even higher frames for the monitor.
Current System: i5 10400f GTX 1650 super 16gb ram

If you play Valorant on low settings, definitely the CPU. Valorant isnt a GPU demanding game.
I wouldn't recommend getting a new 10th or 11th gen CPU due to being a bit too slow for 2024(single core performance wise) and the 12th gen (12100, 12400, 12500 and 12600/k/f/KF) has small L3 cache. Valorant really likes cache.
I would go either with an AM5 platform (7500f/7600 + 32gb 6000 cl30 and a b650 + a thermalright x 120 (doesn't matter which one)) or with the older Am4 Platform (RYZEN 5600 or ryzen 5700x3d + b450/b550 and the thermalright cooler. In this case you can reuse the cooler).

yeah this setup has been with me for 4 years and been seeing my fps in games lower unlike before. For some reason I was getting pretty good fps at the early years of Valorant like around 250+, but since last year, I’ve only been getting 140-220 peak ingame. That’s why I am looking to upgrade now, I just couldn’t upgrade the whole system at once, so I’m looking for suggestions on what to upgrade first.
Anw thank you for the insights!

If GPU usage in game is near 100% then changing the CPU will accomplish virtually nothing except maybe slightly better 1% lows. Check usage.
