Should I get a dehumidifier, air con or replacement fan for my bathroom?

I've almost given up trying to decide on how to get the wet out of my bathroom.
Looking up dehumidifiers online, I saw they were close in price to standalone aircons with a dehumidifier function. Are standalone aircons as good at dehumidifying as the dedicated dehumidifiers are?
BUT - Am I overthinking this? Would it be better to upgrade my extractor fan to one with a humidistat instead?

I'm guessing you have a small bathroom and have issues due to the steam not an external issue
You can get in-line high capacity extractor fans for about £50 might be a better thing than spending hundreds

Yes exactly. I don't want to give up warm showers... Even after leaving our fan running for an hour the humidity can be up to 80%. Given the current one is on a timer with a max length of 10mins it's just not keeping up.

You have a normal wall mounted one?
In-line ones are much more powerful and I'm sure have a humidistat or adjustable timer

Yes, a normal wall mounted one. Can this be swapped out for the inline, or are they different?

Get a new inline with a higher flow rate and a humidity sensor cut off rather than a timer.
Make sure there's a gap under the door so fresh air can get in.
Consider wiping shower walls and glass down with a squeegee or vacuum squeegee, this stops all that water evaporating into the air keeping humidity high.

Inline goes in the loft moving 2-3.5x the air. That said a new wall mount may help, compare extraction rates. Manrose mf100 is the go to inline. I'd get a dehumidifier anyway, drying washing will dry quicker and introduce less moisture

They're differant

Have you checked that the duct from the fan outwards has been installed correctly? And the exterior vent is working correctly

Good thinking, I'll ask there as well!
