In the future we will look back and realize that WW3 started well before now
PortCityBlitz@reddit
WWIII started back in 2012-14, by my semi-expert estimate. In a century or so we'll know if I'm right.
Hexrax7@reddit
Your definition of a world war is very unique to you then. We are still no where close to a world war. Multiple unrelated conflicts in the world is not a world war
PortCityBlitz@reddit
That's what they said about the second one. Remember when it was the "Phony War", "Drole du Guerre", or "Sitzkrieg"?
Hexrax7@reddit
Whatever you say man. WW3 will be destruction on a scale this world will never recover from. When it starts we won’t be debating if it’s begun we will know.

Most Americans will tell you WW2 started Dec 7th 1941, when most Europeans will say Sept 1st 1939 and many then many Chinese will say sometime as early as 1931.
VRTester_THX1138@reddit
Any American who knows that date knows that's not when WW2 actually started.

We’ve been at war since the dawn of our nation, and have never stopped.
Once America became a war machine for world conflict, it never shut down. We kept the factories running and just repurposed its output and sold it to the American people. Levi Strauss was a popular brand for us army officers uniforms in World War I, now a staple in every American wardrobe. Your canned food, became the standard in all American homes which was originally created for the war effort. The American muscle car boom was nothing but a recycling of warplane engineering to maintain research funding for future conflicts. This fueled the innovation for World War II airplanes. the Ford Mustang was a plane before it was ever a car. Even the drywall in every American home, the gypsum used to make sheetrock is a byproduct of phosphate mining. Phosphate is a component of all our military’s explosive ordinances.

Interesting how this aligns with North Korea closing up, well blowing up, its roads to South Korea.
Can see Russia slipping in as the new backer for North Korea.

Illustrious-Being339@reddit
I can't wait to see what these north koreans do when they see an fpv drone for the first time. Probably first time they will see one and likely the last since they will have no idea the drone can kill you.
E9F1D2@reddit
Well, I mean, Kim landed on the moon and built a space laser base there, so I'd assume NK is well versed in advanced and futuristic technology. If anything FPV drones are so far beneath their tech base they may not recognize it as a threat. The space lasers will intercept them though. The NK Space force is well trained.

Ukraine has hosted thousands of Western mercenaries since the beginning of the war. Many of these have been killed and the media barely notices.
Moxen81@reddit
I think the thing is that these aren’t NK mercenaries, this is part of the actual NK army sent by their government to fight and occupy Ukraine.
This was usually preceded by a declaration of war back in the old days, which countries have been skipping of late.
So it’s essentially a North Korean declaration of war against Ukraine.
GuyCyberslut@reddit
By the same logic, all NATO countries are at war with Russia.
Certainly, Western mercenaries are in Ukraine with the full support our governments. I don't recall of them being charged for their activities.
Moxen81@reddit
Did you misunderstand or are you being disingenuous?
Once again, not talking about mercenaries.
By the same logic, no it’s not. The American government has not sent the American army to directly fight Russian soldiers on the ground in Ukraine or Russia. North Korea has.
GuyCyberslut@reddit
Russia has allies, why wouldn't they help out with the war effort?
It would not surprise me if NK troops are used to help occupy the West Ukraine along with those from many other countries.
Moxen81@reddit
Russia’s allies will do what they will 🤷♂️
My point is that sending weapons to support is on a different level than sending your army in to join the war.
GuyCyberslut@reddit
Western and American weapons are not faring so well in this conflict, are they? I'm sure the American taxpayer won't mind forking over a few billion more to keep the war going until Kamala is inaugurated next January.
Moxen81@reddit
Non sequitur? We get it, you ❤️ Russia. Take the L and move on to your next target.
Flat_Boysenberry1669@reddit
Is it me or is this not new?
I've been seeing videos of north Koreans fighting along side Russians for months.
Along with Arabs and Africans.
HereticBanana@reddit
When you say North Koreans, do you really mean Asians? Because that's the eastern half of Russia.
Flat_Boysenberry1669@reddit
No north Koreans lol.
HereticBanana@reddit
You're saying you've seen videos with soldiers wearing NK flags taking part in combat operations? I've seen them as part of logistics chains, but not actual combat teams.
Flat_Boysenberry1669@reddit
Not wearing nk flags but speaking Korean and the Russians saying they're north Korean.
HereticBanana@reddit
Do you speak Korean, Russian, or both?
skin_Animal@reddit
Not the OP, and don't speak either language, but can still identify which language it is
HereticBanana@reddit
You don't speak the language but can tell it apart from other similar languages? That seems unlikely.
743389@reddit
Yeah it's not that weird to be able to identify languages even if you can't speak/understand them. Korean has vowel sounds and common sequences of syllables that are particularly distinct, even from other Asian languages.
North Korean dialect is markedly diverged from modern Korean too, but I don't believe it would be easy for a foreigner who doesn't know Korean well to tell when someone is speaking that dialect. I think those would be too similar to be sure it's not regular Korean unless they know the language. Could be wrong though.
HereticBanana@reddit
It's easy to know that languages have differences in dialect. Actually picking them out in a conversation when you don't even speak the language is a whole 'nother story.
But it will be pretty obvious if in a few weeks we start seeing North Korean soldiers fighting with the NK flag on their sleeve that the earlier claims are much more suspect.
skin_Animal@reddit
Absolutely yes! Korean especially.
Flat_Boysenberry1669@reddit
No but I know what Korean sounds like lol.
Are you upset you're not just being told about something that happened months ago? Is that was this is about?
HereticBanana@reddit
Nope, I just don't believe you, so I was asking clarifying questions.

ScientistCool7604@reddit
I have a not so great understanding of politics & war. Lol, can someone explain this to me like a 5th grader please? Should we be panicked or no?
HeathenBliss@reddit
Essentially, All the major nuclear powers have been part of a long standing agreement not to be the aggressors in armed conflict. Kind of like all the kids with sticks on the playground agreeing to never hit anyone else first.
Russia made up a bunch of false pretenses as an excuse to invade Ukraine, which violated those agreements, which is why no one like them right now. But, because Russia is a nuclear power, none of the other really powerful nations want to step in and directly help Ukraine. They are worried that Russia will view them stepping in directly as a declaration of war by another nuclear power, and use nuclear weapons in response. Russia has also threatened just exactly that.
However, despite the big show Russia is putting on, they are running out of troops, equipment, and ammunition, and anyone who supplies them to Russia will be sanctioned until their entire nation collapses.
That is where north Korea comes in. North Korea does not care about sanctions, because they are already completely sanctioned by the entire western world. They have a surplus of troops, because their entire male population is in their military. They also lack the food to properly feed their people, and have a giant stockpile of old soviet ammunition and weapons.
What appears to have happened is that Russia has taken some of those troops and material, in exchange for... we don't know exactly know what Russia gave or what North Korea gains, beyond speculation.
What we do know is that North Korea has operational nuclear missiles, which means that there are now two rogue nations on the battlefield in Ukraine.
This ups the ante quite a bit for the rest of the world.
Should we be worried about a nuclear attack?
No. The primary fear here is further escalation of conventional warfare, and those escalations triggering a full scale global conflict. Western nations haven't seen an actual war in over a generation, at least, not a serious one on the scale that wars used to happen.
There's also an undertone of uncertainty regarding what Russia gave North Korea, with logical guesses ranging from food and cash to ICBM schematics, which has been a long stated chief goal of the Kim regime.
Coro-NO-Ra@reddit
Does it really, though?
justdan76@reddit
I’d say politically it does, but you still have to go to work tomorrow.
damagedgoods48@reddit
No. And even if we all got missile alerts that a nuke was hitting us, that is still not a time to panic. Because we’d all be dead soon anyway. Haha anyways, this is not a time to panic.
ScientistCool7604@reddit
LMAO WHAT 🤣🤣
damagedgoods48@reddit

funky_boar@reddit

Hermit_Wizard_0@reddit
I once had a dream of seeing a nuclear explosion. It was glorious.
jpb1111@reddit
I've had many of those dreams.
DarthRaspberry@reddit
Here’s the explanation if you were a 5th grader, and I’m generalizing a lot. Basically, we knew North Korea and Russia were friends. But now we know they are really good friends, doing big favours for each other. If North Korea is fighting for Russia in Ukraine, then that helps Russia potentially win that fight. Fresh new troops that are well rested is always good. It also begs the question, what is Russia doing for North Korea in return? Having North Korean army travel halfway across the globe to fight for you is a pretty big favour, so what can we expect Russia to give back to North Korea? Maybe a LOT of money, maybe we can now expect Russian army to fight in Korea, we know North Korea wants nukes, and Russia has nukes. Maybe that’s a trade that’s happening?
All we really know now is that they were friends, and now they are likely super good friends.
Hermit_Wizard_0@reddit
Super good friends.Bros even.
ScientistCool7604@reddit
Great explanation, thank you!
HereticBanana@reddit
lol No panic necessary. It's a fourth rate military helping a third rate military. Unless you live in Ukraine or Russia, you have nothing to worry about.
ScientistCool7604@reddit
Thank you haha
VRTester_THX1138@reddit
They're sending both of them?!? What's the rest of their military going to do?
justdan76@reddit
I think it’s one of those deals where pretty much every citizen is in the military. They actually have the fifth largest military in the world.
WarThunderFDO@reddit
OP : What is the source?
arwynj55@reddit
You got NK on the front lines, along side Iranian drones and Russia. Us, UK and Europe in one way another helping ukraine... Who's gon be who declares ww3? Shits messed up and that's without counting other wars going on round the world.
JadedBoyfriend@reddit
China is to be blamed here. They've been making money selling stuff to North Korea and now they're gonna be used potentially in this conflict.
It's a bit of a twist where China doesn't involve themselves with war, but they're profiting from that. This is very reminiscent of 1930-40s America, just right before Pearl Harbor.
dust-ranger@reddit
Maybe they will start to defect after a few thermite showers.
DisastrousHawk835@reddit
Good god that drone is terrifying. One drop of that thermite lands on you and that would be an excruciating death. Don’t to mention being trapped in an instant forest fire circle in a matter of moments
dust-ranger@reddit
Not to mention what it could potentially do to a tank, like sealing the hatch or melting through the armor and igniting the ammo.
Eatthebankers2@reddit
I think they will defect asap, if the Russians troops don’t rape and murder them first. This is a country where it’s own borders guards that have escaped had stones they ate to stave off hunger, and were full of parasites.
Marlonius@reddit
There are already reports of NK units "Escaping" after getting to Russia. By Russians, so they at least know the NKs are chattell.
Eatthebankers2@reddit
NK has a habit of imprisoning the whole family if you defect. Getting into another country is the perfect opportunity to get MIA so they get freedom without having their families punished. I think they can ask For asylum in SK.
Routine-Try-5163@reddit
If those "dragon drones" reach a v2 at some point, that's when i'd be scared. When they're able to shoot that stuff rather than just let it drop, I could see them utilizing this as mortar rounds where it pops like 20 ft above the target so that it affects more. Modern warfare is starting to look like Star Wars.
RabidCadaver@reddit

Rev-Dr-Slimeass@reddit
The Russian and Ukrainian armed forces are currently supplemented by a large number of foreign fighters. I don't think this is quite the alarming development you think it is.
Coro-NO-Ra@reddit
Yeah, I think it's more significant that NK will be getting direct combat experience to bring home.
Idk why OP is freaking out about "another nuclear armed state" and "WW3."
are-e-el@reddit
Because “WW3” a common conservative/GOP trope to get folks to vote for Trump with the assumption that only he can prevent it but in reality that prevention means just giving Putin/Kim/Xi/all other dictators what they want.
PortCityBlitz@reddit
