Do you butter the bread in a nutella sandwich?
Posted by Ok-Kaleidoscope-7051@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 242 comments
I've always done this and my colleagues at work think I'm mental. I don't see why buttering the bread is so controversial when i think it adds a decent bit of flavor. I'm genuinely not bothered but it was suggested to ask the internet and see if anyone does the same and now I'm on a mission to prove that I'm not the only one lol. (And clearly show how unbothered i am)
TheDawiWhisperer@reddit
If it's a sandwich, it gets buttered.
Bluffwatcher@reddit
Yeah I used to throw those sandwich into the bushes on the way to school. Maybe you should listen to what your kids want, haha?
Fancy-Professor-7113@reddit
Maybe the kids can put two slices of bread some Nutella for themselves if they don't like it?
Strong-Helicopter-10@reddit
If that is your kids opinion I hope they don't put butter on their jam sandwhich XD
fgbTNTJJsunn@reddit
Try this sandwich. Has butter priming on 1 slice. Philadelphia priming on the other. Then you spread Nutella on half of one slice. Peanut butter on the other half. Ensure overlap. Jam on half the other slice. Marmalade on the other half. Again overlap. Then slap the 2 slices together and cut diagonally. Delicious.
IHeardOnAPodcast@reddit
When you put the bread together I assume you're going jam/peanut butter, marmalade/Nutella (like a Terry's chocolate orange sandwich)?
fgbTNTJJsunn@reddit
Never had the Terry's sandwich, but the 2 stripes of spread on each slice should be perpendicular to eachother when the bread slices are placed together.
cyberllama@reddit
Go to jail. Go directly to jail. Do not pass Go. Do not correct £200.
labelsonshampoo@reddit
Two!?!
Watch me grab the peanut butter as well and go reeces peices on this toast
Lassitude1001@reddit
Someone call social, child abuse right here putting two spreads together! 😂
LittleSadRufus@reddit
Peanut butter and jam is effectively the OG sandwich in our house, so I'm surprised my kid hasn't already been taken off us and shoved into fostering.
Gauntlets28@reddit
Butter's not a spread, it's a primer for the spread.
RedSunWuKong@reddit
Like an undercoat?
Gauntlets28@reddit
Exactly!
doctorgibson@reddit
Butter blended with oil is often referred to as a spread
Gauntlets28@reddit
Yeah, but there's spread and then there's spread, I.e. short for "spreadable butter".
AvatarIII@reddit
The question becomes, is Nutella a butter?
UnreadyTripod@reddit
Oh yea? 😏 Let's see you butter your ice cream sandwich
LoveBeBrave@reddit
Who the fuck puts ice cream in a sandwich
Purple_ash8@reddit
No. But I’m not really a sandwich person anyway.
KermodesMassiveHands@reddit
I've tried Nutella sandwiches both with and without butter, and hands down the buttered sandwich wins.
People calling this concept "perverse" and "mental" need to tune into Sanity FM. It's completely fine if you like it, it's completely fine if you don't. At the end of the day it's adding salty fat to something which is sweet - which makes total sense from a flavour profile perspective. Cyaaaaaaam down.
homelaberator@reddit
Why are people looking for reasons not to eat butter?
Besides, bread and butter are a Briton's bread and butter
Weird1Intrepid@reddit
Butter one slice, Nutella the other, slap em together and enjoy
LaraH39@reddit
Yes.
Butter before Nutella, jam, curd... Butter before jam and cream on a scone, always butter.
If the question is do I butter... The answer is yes.
Maximum-Armadillo809@reddit
Absolutely not.
Lopsided_Soup_3533@reddit
I'll be honest I've never put Nutella on bread. It's just me the jar and a spoon.
Butter seems unnecessary but each to their own
gamecnad@reddit
Butter is delicious, and adds vital moisture to a sandwich. You're alive, celebrate it by buttering your bread.
modumberator@reddit
it's hardly vital. Sandwiches with another spread in are totally tasty without butter. I am unconvinced that the extra sensory delight of the butter is worth the calories.
BlueTrin2020@reddit
You are effing counting the calories in a Nutella sandwich?
Is that a bad joke?
mentaldriver1581@reddit
Yes! As well as creating a barrier so the bread doesn’t sog out from other spreads.
beatnikstrictr@reddit
I don't eat it because I don't like it but I put butter on my little girls Nutella sandwich once and it wasn't appreciated.
MaidInWales@reddit
Butter is like the undercoat, whatever the filling, it has to be done 👍🏻
mewkitty91@reddit
If I'm putting a spread on top be it chocolate/jam/peanut butter whatever, that's all that's going on it.
Unfair_Original_2536@reddit
I don't and it sounds perverse to be honest.
swallowyoursadness@reddit
The saltiness of the butter brings our the flavour of the chocolate spread
GourangaPlusPlus@reddit
The chocolate spread brings out the flavour of the chocolate spread
What I taste with the mix is butter and chocolate spread
swallowyoursadness@reddit
Then you're using too much butter. You want a very thin layer, so it's just coating the bread, not acting as an actual spread. Then generous amounts of chocolate spread, so that's the texture and main flavour of the bite..
Dear_Tangerine444@reddit
But wouldn’t a small amount of actual salt achieve this just as well?
nanakapow@reddit
"How much soy sauce should I be putting on my Nutella sandwich?"
Dear_Tangerine444@reddit
None much?
CheeseyGarlicBread10@reddit
What’s the point of a very thin layer
Willz093@reddit
What they should be doing is buttering one slice of bread, Nutellaing the other slice of bread and maybe shoving a sliced banana in between them if they’re feeling extra cheeky!
niallniallniall@reddit
Would you butter a jam sandwich? Or have toast with butter and jam?
TheDawiWhisperer@reddit
errr...yes?
Unfair_Original_2536@reddit
No, and I don't appreciate people who do but use the same knife.
Bishbag@reddit
Yes …. Obviously?
commonnameiscommon@reddit
Almost sounds illegal. I mean I know it isn’t but somehow I feel like the police should be involved
Scrubbuh@reddit
Should definitely end up on a list at least.
Unfair_Original_2536@reddit
It should definitely show up on an enhanced check for certain roles in position of power.
frootloop2k@reddit
Definitely shows on a credit check as potential fraud.
commonnameiscommon@reddit
Definitely shouldn’t be allowed to work with children
devils-lettuce23@reddit
not judges or government officials then
dfinkelstein@reddit
Why not? You're spreading sugar on bread. Butter makes it healthier.
Ok-Advantage3180@reddit
I see butter as a spread, as well as Nutella, jam, marmalade, and the like, as a spread. Therefore, you don’t put butter on a Nutella sandwich. Case closed.
krux25@reddit
If I have a Nutella sandwich, that's the only one that's not getting any butter. I had butter on a Nutella sandwich once and it didn't taste good at all.
Anything else gets buttered before any other toppings go on.
Pretend_Panda@reddit
Even a peanut butter sandwich?
Illustrious-Divide95@reddit
Love butter in a PB sandwich! 😋
ZedZebedee@reddit
Me too! Everyone thinks I'm weird but it makes it creamy.
MalfunctioningElf@reddit
Me too. My partner thinks I'm weird but he's the weird one because he butters nuttella but not pb.
Dogstile@reddit
I've been told i'm nuts, but when I was a kid i got told "butter first, then whatever you want after". I took that literally, so i buttered my bread and then put on peanut butter for years. Someone then told me it was weird, but for me now it's weird not to do it.
So here i am, putting lurpak and sunpat together and watching everyone's eyes go wide at the combination.
Pretend_Panda@reddit
Do you remember salt and shake crisps? When I was a kid I used to get those as part of my packed lunch. I told a friend one day that I really don’t like salted crisps, I’d prefer plain crisps over ready salted and he told me that all I had to do was not put the salt in. I still feel like a plum about that, even today
Dogstile@reddit
That sounds precisely like something I would do as a kid. I kinda miss those crisps. If they still do them i'm gonna get a pack
Pretend_Panda@reddit
Do it, but don’t put the salt in!
MalfunctioningElf@reddit
It's not weird. They're weird.
TheDoctor66@reddit
PB alone gets butter, PB and jam must not have butter
Squiggles87@reddit
I do. It's nicer and less dry, especially for the crunchy type.
Pretend_Panda@reddit
That should be called “peanut butter butter” sandwich
Outrageous_Editor_43@reddit
Peanut butter sandwich, because I'm weird, I butter one slice and peanut butter the other.
krux25@reddit
I'm probably one of the few that absolutely despises peanut butter.
Pretend_Panda@reddit
I’m with you in that small Venn diagram subset.
I asked the question as I once made my partner peanut butter on toast and she was shocked that I’d buttered the toast before applying the peanut butter. Apparently the clue was in “peanut BUTTER”
krux25@reddit
Even if I did have peanut butter, no butter under it.
But that won't happen in my lifetime, unless I somehow lose my sense of taste.
Anonandonanonanon@reddit
Funnily enough, somebody once acted as though it was really weird that I used butter under PB, so I think this might be a popular viewpoint. For me it's an absolute must. The little flecks that get mixed up are the best part.
Nutella, on the other hand, no, I would never.
krux25@reddit
Everyone has different viewpoints on things. I never used butter under anything during my teenage years, but honestly apart from under Nutella, butter is really nice.
Rabimaster@reddit
100% Every time. No one can stop me.
johnny5247@reddit
The butter is irrelevant. Nutella goes on top of the slice. The Nutella is then not overwhelmed by too much bread.
max1304@reddit
Am I the only one to have never had a Nutella sandwich?
kipha01@reddit
With Peanut butter, yes.
SuperMotard-7@reddit
Makes perfect sense if the butter salted. If not I’d rather have it with just butter and no Nutella
Royal-Principle6138@reddit
Yes loads of butter then Nutella 🤤
fanstereo@reddit
Do you also wash your bananas before you eat them?
thatscotbird@reddit
Nutella is the only thing I have on bread without butter!
d_repz@reddit
Wait till you find out how much sugar there is in Nutella.
Roof_rat@reddit
I used to until I realised I was wrong
milly48@reddit
Nope, I don’t butter any sandwich at all! It’s mayo or nothing
Sad_Emu_3413@reddit
Nope, the same as i dont agree with buttering toast before putting jam on
Wavesmith@reddit
What are you, a millionaire?!
MediumRare-Steak@reddit
I butter the bread before adding Nutella. It gives it a nicer texture.
PintCEm17@reddit
Nope, ruins the chocolate taste
It’s already calorific enough.
LifeYogurtcloset9326@reddit
If you’re worried about calories why are you eating Nutella?
ZeldaFan158@reddit
No, and anyone who does gets a raised eyebrow from me
tttttfffff@reddit
Yes I do, but seem to be in the minority whilst scrolling the comments
Sasu-Jo@reddit
I don't eat nutella EVER
MiddleAgeCool@reddit
With peanut butter, yes.
bonkerz1888@reddit
Chocolate on bread?
Timely_Egg_6827@reddit
All the same ingredients as in a cake if decent bread.
bonkerz1888@reddit
Aye coz everyone is eating tuna mayo Victoria sponge cake sandwiches 😂
Timely_Egg_6827@reddit
I worry about your cooking if you think tuna is a regular cake ingredient unless cooking for the cat. Mayo, I've seen odd in every sense cake recipes containing it but not for me. Have fun trying it though. But flour, yeast, water, salt,butter/oil and chocolate in many cakes.
bonkerz1888@reddit
My point being that just because the constitution of something is similar to something else, doesn't make it the same. I wouldn't top my sandwich off with icing either 😂
Timely_Egg_6827@reddit
Yeah, I am glad that one stayed in the 50s https://lostrecipesfound.com/50s-frosted-sandwich-loaf/
xp3ayk@reddit
I don't put palm oil in my cakes
Timely_Egg_6827@reddit
You may not but a lot of people do esp when making free from cakes.
a_government_man@reddit
yeh think about all the nutrients you're getting when eating jam for example
bonkerz1888@reddit
Homemade jam usually are very nutritious.
wildOldcheesecake@reddit
I’m one of those people that can’t stand butter and jam together. My mum would pack me a jam and butter sarnie for a treat in my packed lunch. I despised it and spent the whole time gagging whilst trying to choke it down (back when dinner ladies made you eat everything)
a_government_man@reddit
same, the texture of butter in general freaks me out. can stand it only when put on warm bread so it melts. I'm originally from Germany and I remember kids would do butter, Nutella and mortadella lol.
Unfair_Original_2536@reddit
Hazlenuts, it's a hazlenut spread, that's what they want you to think.
It's really sugar and palm oil spread but that doesn't sound so appealing.
Bill_Hubbard@reddit
You're mental!
CMDoet@reddit
Butter AND Nutella? Check out HRH Moneybags over here
nervous_veggie@reddit
That sounds awful
Franco_Corelli@reddit
Yes. Butter and Nutella in a sandwich is too tier
FebruaryStars84@reddit
Always
Sandwich or toast, if it’s Nutella, peanut butter, dairylea, jam, there’s always butter on there first.
To not do so feels really odd to me.
Freckled_Scot982@reddit
Absolutely, I butter the bread! I'll butter it with jam, with peanut butter, with nutella, with honey - everything!
RabidHamsterSlayer@reddit
Salted butter, which has a difference consistency to Nutella, is amazing. I also like salted butter with my Sunpat Peanut butter (which has no butter in it.)
Ok-Masterpiece8950@reddit
I've always done this, my mates and siblings all thought I was a right weirdo, I mean, to be fair, I am, but not because of this.
Opening_Succotash_95@reddit
Fuck no. Nutella is basically flavoured butter.
littlepinkgrowl@reddit
Obviously yes! Always butter the bread, always.
butiamawizard@reddit
No. The Nutella for me is enough 😁
AlgaeFew8512@reddit
I wouldn't want that flavour added
Top-Childhood5030@reddit
Tbh I don't understand how anyone can butter bread in the first place 🤢
ThePanther1999@reddit
Definitely. The saltiness of the butter goes perfectly with the Nutella.
banxy85@reddit
Actually makes it taste even better
Crafty-Warthog-1493@reddit
No! And I also don't understand why people add butter to a jam sandwich either....jam's a spread in its own right.
lovepeacefakepiano@reddit
Yes. Particularly good if it’s salted butter, but either kind will do.
PopTrogdor@reddit
No. What the fuck is wrong with you?
moreboredthanyouare@reddit
Peanut butter and Nutella is my hershey butty. Proper heart attack sarnie
notmyworld76@reddit
Nooooooooooo
MrTango650@reddit
No, but I've had Nutella on buttered toast before and it was glorious.
SueR74@reddit
Try it on crumpets, amazing!
Alarmed-Example-3575@reddit
Yeah. Also butter toast before putting on Nutella.
yearsofpractice@reddit
I used to then I met my wife and she declared I was wrong so we have been hissing at each other about that for a decade AND NOW we have two kids with opinions on butter so every butter-related activity in my house instantly descends into absolutely brutal all-out war
Boredwithitallnow@reddit
Never had a chocolate spread sandwich, and never will.
Professional-Ad1892@reddit
Yesss. More butter than Nutella 😍
MonumentOfRibs@reddit
Yes officer. This post right here.
Namiweso@reddit
Nutella sandwich? Sounds crap who wants room temperature unmelted Nutella.
Butter Nutella on toast? Absolutely. Butter anything I put on toast.
crnppscls@reddit
Of course and on both sides
ahoneybadger3@reddit
Yep, loads of butter too.
amanset@reddit
You are just filthy.
jaBroniest@reddit
Lurpak on it then the spread!
Slight-Pen9588@reddit
FUCK no
ToshPott@reddit
Yeah, same for a pb & j.
I made PB and banana toastie for my step daughter today, and she gave me a proper weird look when I put butter in it but she demolished it and said it was great.
West_Yorkshire@reddit
That's like, double the obeseness, so no.
Whosentyounow@reddit
No way jose
valkia@reddit
My partner butters the bread, and butters the Nutella. You're all good.
yourvenusdoom@reddit
Bread? Yes. Toast? No.
Only a tiny amount so it’s not unspreadable on raw bread.
MrLore@reddit
The only use I have for unbuttered bread is turning it into buttered bread.
BearsBeetsBG@reddit
Poetic, brave, life changing, hero.
space_coyote_86@reddit
Hell no. I wouldn't have butter with anything that you have to spread.
Zandra_98@reddit
People butter pop tarts too and I e never tried either so I guess I can’t say it’s gross but. Doesn’t sound appealing 😬
Forsaken_Crow_6784@reddit
Always, sweet and salt!
DarkLuxio92@reddit
I do, but only a very thin layer.
Tildatots@reddit
It tastes better with butter, brings out a sweetness
HeriotAbernethy@reddit
No. I don’t add butter with Peanut butter either.
Jam and Marmite or a sandwich with bits (ham etc), yes.
Cokezerowh0re@reddit
You and my old eating disorder dietician would get along great🫠 she insisted that Nutella or peanut butter toast needed buttering too, NO
TrudeBordello@reddit
I butter all sandwiches, without exception.
spik0rwill@reddit
Disgusting
Rroken86@reddit
It's 1,000x better with butter.
swiftpotatoskin@reddit
no, just Nutella on one slice, peanut butter on another and Jam on top of either and then squish together. Heaven
Hopeful_Scratch_5237@reddit
I butter with the chocolate spread and also butter with peanut butter 😋
Hot_and_Foamy@reddit
No. Sounds awful.
Top-Custard-7297@reddit
Isn't Nutella like 60% sugar? Why on earth you'd want a sugar sandwich is beyond me, and I've eaten some pretty gnarly shit over the years.
sandersonprint@reddit
This is a divisive question in Germany apparently. Similar to the French pain au chocolat/chocolatine debate or in Cornwall/Devon whether to put the jam or cream first on a scone
SceneDifferent1041@reddit
Yes... It needs minor lubrication.
littlepurplepanda@reddit
Yes, it makes it taste better
kai_enby@reddit
I don't like nutella as a sandwich, only on toast. I usually don't butter the toast if I'm having nutella but occasionally I will, as a treat
dbxp@reddit
I just use Nutella, I figure it has palm oil in it which serves the same purpose as butter
gamecnad@reddit
tell that to your mouth when it's struggling to produce saliva to aid the mastication of dry bread and gloopy, sticky Nutella.
dbxp@reddit
I just had one about an hour ago and it was fine
Choice-Release5639@reddit
Diabetes and cancer takes longer than 1 hour
G-ACO-Doge-MC@reddit
If it’s a sandwich, it has butter or flora. I’m not raw dogging any filling or spread whatsoever.
coffeeebucks@reddit
This is a war crime
Nineteen_AT5@reddit
Absolutely not. Chocolate spread is the base layer, it doesn't need butter/margarine as well. My Dad made it that way once and I refused to eat it.
Fluffy-Pomegranate-8@reddit
No. One slice of bread gets chocolate spread, the other gets peanut butter
And before anyone asks, crunchy is better than smooth
1968Bladerunner@reddit
Always. No matter what spread or filling is going between the slices they are both buttered first. Thankfully my adult daughter agrees or I'd have to disown her!
thecheesycheeselover@reddit
Always butter
Larca@reddit
I do butter, then peanut butter and then strawberry jam 😅 Never tried butter and nutella. Maybe I should give it a try.🤔
Forceptz@reddit
I imagine eating this is the same as spending time in the hell dimension from the film Event Horizon.
markhewitt1978@reddit
The Nutella itself acts as butter substitute. To put both in is wacky to say the least.
Ok-Village-607@reddit
It does rub me up the wrong way to hear you do that BUT you aren’t hurting anyone so… who cares?
sullcrowe@reddit
Yes, of course. Any bread gets buttered, doesn't matter what else goes on.
ForestCl0uds@reddit
I've never heard of anyone doing this. It's never entered my mind. Now that I know it, I can never un-know it.
EmmaInFrance@reddit
Yes!
Especially as I've been living in Brittany for nearly 20 years and here, we love to use demi-sel Breton salted butter as much as possible!
I'm Welsh though, and I also grew up using traditional Welsh salted butter for everything, so it does feel pretty normal.
I have always used it with peanut butter too. Especially peanut butter, it's just enough to offset the throat clagginess of the peanut butter and make it palatable.
And I use it with other fatty spreads, such as paté.
I will say though, I do try to ensure that it's just a thin smear, just enough to act as a lubrication layer and create a distinct barrier between the bread and the spread.
Bacon butties too, they don't taste the same without butter. And chip butties!
With something hot, it also becomes much more about how the salty butter melts into the bread.
Mmm...tasty!
BushidoX0@reddit
Lightly
Butter though, not marg
EndPsychological2541@reddit
I used to when I was much younger.
I don't eat it anymore.
Just smear it over my body and present myself to passers by.
astromech_dj@reddit
I butter toast with Nutella. Don’t tend to have a sandwich version.
fahhgedaboutit@reddit
I haven’t had a sandwich like that, but I have a butter and Nutella crumpet almost every night. But the heat of the crumpet melts them together, not sure what it would taste like without being warm
Evilclown22@reddit
Always butter
AGM-65_Maverick@reddit
Yes. Nutella and peanut butter sandwiches get buttered. Otherwise it’s like eating cement.
jeffprop@reddit
I never thought of doing that, but it sounds interesting. Tell your colleagues you like what you like, and “Don’t yuck my yum”. I am sure there are things they eat that you find abhorrent, but you keep your mouth shut about it because you are chewing on a buttered Nutella sandwich.
Pedantichrist@reddit
Of course.
Rebuilding-Bethy@reddit
Surely the only way to eat Nutella is with a spoon, when you've had A Day.
I'm sure someone else has said this, apologies, but no time to scan through all the comments.
Bulky_Yesterday_5809@reddit
100%. Definitely if it’s salted butter too, sweet and salty yuummmm
great_blue_panda@reddit
I like peanut butter + Nutella
Old_Introduction_395@reddit
And butter
Tattycakes@reddit
I would because I love butter
Mitridate101@reddit
As an Italian, vaffaNapoli !
UnknownTerrorUK@reddit
Yea I'll pretty much butter anything bread related if I'm putting another ingredient between it.
sennalvera@reddit
This never occurred to me and now I want to try it. Butter makes everything better.
Ok-Kaleidoscope-7051@reddit (OP)
That's what I've been trying to get across to people. Especially if you make the sandwich the night before and leave in the fridge to set a bit. Honestly, I've got so accustomed to the taste I can't enjoy it without
baciahai@reddit
Yes!!! Cold thick butter + Nutella, oh my days
PowerApp101@reddit
I have butter with everything. Life is better with butter.
Mixup_Machine@reddit
No, I don't even do it with jam which I know a lot of people do. To me if something is spreadable enough to go on bread, then no other spread is needed and just districts from the taste of the thing you actually want.
lemon-fizz@reddit
I do yeah. I like the added flavour and the lubrication!
Same with peanut butter. People who shove peanut butter on bread or toast with no butter lubrication are weirdos imo.
terryjuicelawson@reddit
I think it makes a bad sandwich anyway as it is too thin and goopy with absolutely zero nutrition or substance. On toast as a breakfast or quick snack - sure. Butter seems unneccessary but may give a salted caramel type element maybe. Mayo would be outright wrong, I think most could agree.
Ok-Kaleidoscope-7051@reddit (OP)
Mayo! That would be horrendous. Someone has blatantly tried this though
wildOldcheesecake@reddit
Probably an American somewhere
terryjuicelawson@reddit
It is mostly oil. As is nutella as it happens.
Caramel_Carousel@reddit
I practically butter the bread I've buttered. If I'm putting something in a sandwich, I'm buttering it.
Many-Giraffe-2341@reddit
Try buttering both sides of the bread... delicious!
Friendlyappletree@reddit
Hmm. Haven't done this before but it seems like a good idea. I definitely use butter if I'm making a chocolate toastie, though (you use squares of something thin like Lindt plus a tiny bit of salt).
Many-Giraffe-2341@reddit
I can picture buttering the outside of the bread when making Nutella toasties...
Just not on the inside, please...
bananabastard@reddit
No. My ma did it once for me when I was about 6, and I couldn't eat it. Disgusting.
Willsagain2@reddit
If it's bread, it gets buttered, no exception
xp3ayk@reddit
It's a completely different flavour. Sometimes I butter, sometimes I don't.
I probably prefer the buttered version as the flavour is slightly richer and less cloyingly sweet. But sometimes cloyingly sweetness is what I'm after
According-Ad-9493@reddit
Absolutely love butter then Nutella on toast. It hugely enhances the flavour. I'll happily fight to the death anyone who suggests otherwise.
bobmanuk@reddit
yes, also butter bread/toast if im making peanut butter/marmite/beans
Robmeu@reddit
It gets the butter. It is a sandwich. We are not heathens, good Lord.

Fair enough! To be honest I'm going to start doing this to save whatever is left of my arteries and see how it goes.
Talking_to_my_diary@reddit
Same here, never missed it. Family thinks I'm mad.
WanderWomble@reddit
I only eat it on toast and yes it gets buttered.
Accurate_Prompt_8800@reddit
I don’t like butter in any of my sandwiches so no. No judgement though, do what you enjoy!
ieya404@reddit
It puts the butter on the bread or it gets the hosepipe again!
Timely_Egg_6827@reddit
Yes. If it's toast, it helps texture. If it's a baguette, then lots of fresh butter is good. Maybe not if have with banana as well
Powerful_Housing7035@reddit
Yes. Very enjoyable.
Smeetsie11@reddit
Absolutely. It makes the sandwich creamier.
ashyjay@reddit
Yes, I also do it for peanut butter, you can't have bread without butter.
Ok_Help516@reddit
No I don't as I don't like how the chocolate spread tastes with butter
hhfugrr3@reddit
Yes of course. I'm posh.
Careless-Ad8346@reddit
No and to do so seems insane

Yes. It is the law.
Sir_Greggles@reddit
Absolutely not… Gross
MissingScore777@reddit
I wouldn't but I think butter in any sandwich is disgusting so I'm not a good yardstick.
I use butter on toast and potatoes, or for baking. Nothing else.

My bread is pretty easy going, I don't need to.
