Seems like the four rifle barrels are chambered in 3 different calibers. That feels odd to me but I guess I get it. In theory they're all for different game. Lions, Rhinos, Elephants, etc.
I figure if you miss with your first shit you start caring less about what the other shots are intended for. Feels like it would get confusing to reload though. The shotgun would be a no brainer but you have to keep track of 3 different cartridges that all seem like they'd be relatively similar. I guess you wouldn't be expected to reload under stress though.

Lmao, I guessed that perfectly. German with 4 rifle barrels and a shotgun in the middle

My favorite part is that these are/were a common enough thing in Germany they have an entire naming system for them based on the number of barrels.
Zwilling (two barrels, zwei = two), Drilling (three barrels, drei = three), and Vierling (four barrels, vier = four).
To be entirely honest I never knew that Fünflings existed before.

That thing is plenty heavy, probably a perfect platform for those bruisers.

Combination guns were intended to take whatever game you happened upon, they weren't meant to be used like stopping rifles.
For subsistence hunting, it's hard to beat a combination gun.

Reminds me of the LeMat revolver, 9 smaller rounds around a shotgun in the center.

It's like a companion rifle to that.

Would love to see a cartridge based modern version, the LeMat is a fiddly civil war era cap and powder beast.
Would love to see * I like a lot of firearms conceptually, but can't see myself collecting them. Totally would if I hit a big lottery, but eh.
