So much of modern western unhappiness comes from social media. people compare themselves to others leaving fake lives. blud posting on 4chin does lead one to presume conventional incel situation. oh no i'm not banging chicks galore and getting super gains or whatever stupid shit.

However, there is a point where you are screaming you are drowning when you realize you are in waist deep water and can simply stand up. its an amazing opportunity to save up money, invest money, use the extra money to further your education or pay off student loans, etc.

So, in this case I view both parties as wrong and stand by my sarcasm. I'm not going to stand with whatever SJW or whatever and condemn him. However, nor I am going to white knight him as I perceive you. I'm going to take the reality approach to get him to wake up.

A situation may have parts that are unwanted but there is opportunity that is being missed. He's endured it this long fine. Endure it more, invest more aggressively, now you can move out, and pursue wanted social life, etc. However, as with all things in our regarded society now everyone presumes there are only two sides or two options.

There is a point where someone's suffering is their own cause and in their own head. You don't enable them, you don't degrade them, you give them perspective. He has every opportunity for improvement and just needs to stand up.
