Put her in prison

I have a hard time understanding humanity when I read things like this.
noncongruent@reddit
It wasn't her humanity, it was the alcohol. Alcohol severely affects the brain, including the parts where what you and I would call "humanity" are seated. It's also not true to claim that alcohol only amplifies inherent personality traits. It can do that, but it can also change someone's personality in contradictory ways, such as the nicest person you ever knew becoming a belligerent drunk who wants to pick fights. For all the perceived good that alcohol does, it also does a tremendous amount of damage as well.
fakejacki@reddit
What perceived good does alcohol do??
noncongruent@reddit
It acts as a social lubricant for many people, which is why it's often served at parties. Note that I said "perceived good" as opposed to actual medical good. There is little to no evidence that alcohol does anything like that, and plenty of evidence of the opposite.
slowro@reddit
Hmmm getting drunk knowing you have drive with your fucking kid with you seems like a terrible person decision.
That lady cared about no one but herself.
noncongruent@reddit
Alcohol is a powerful drug. It is well-known for destroying the ability to make good decisions.
Puskarich@reddit
Y'all can both be right.. she is shit and alcohol helps make awful decisions..
slowro@reddit
Brother bad decisions were made before getting drunk.
noncongruent@reddit
Yeah, she could have decided when she was sober to get drunk and then drive drunk on purpose, that makes sense.
slowro@reddit
Are you in AA? Alcohol does not control anyone. She was the one who knew she had to drive eventually with her kid. Despite that she decided to drink and keep drinking.

Did I just read part of his skull was exposed…
Cheesencrqckerz@reddit
What kind of trash ass news site is this?
HugePurpleNipples@reddit
Here's the thing; I smoke weed literally every day of my life. I run a successful business and I'm primary parent to my kids (my wife has a demanding job as well and she has a less flexible schedule). I have never forgotten to pick my kids up, I make them dinner most nights, I take them to school and pick them up... and most of the time I'm high when I do it. I haven't been the cause of an accident since I was in HS.
Why is what I do illegal and going to a bar then finding your own way home isn't?
CatchIcy1011@reddit
Bad look.
stinky_pee@reddit
What a fucking stupid take. If I’d written this, I’d delete it due to embarrassment… but I don’t brag about driving my kids around while impaired and sympathize with a drunk driver, so I have some sense.
AlarmingDetective526@reddit
Operating a vehicle while drunk is a crime; you’d probably realize that if you weren’t stoned.
Brilliant-Spite-850@reddit
Imagine bragging about taking your kids to school high. Jesus Christ…. Wish I knew what business you run.
TotesMcGotes13@reddit
This is a terrible take and an awful look. You should never operate your vehicle while high, and doubly so when your children are in it. I’m all for legalization, but this sounds just like the morons that say “I actually drive better when I’m drunk”. Scientifically, no. You are changing how your brain operates when you are under the influence of either, so please stop. And by the way, both are illegal. Believe it or not, you can go to a bar and legally find a way home via uber, DD, public transport, etc.

According to Fox4, she was upset that this “would ruin her future nursing career” and “she always does this.” On the scene, after being picked up at her sister’s and brought back to where the accident was that hurt her son. Doesn’t sound like she gave much thought to her son. 🤦♂️
Realistic-Molasses-4@reddit
She hid at her sister's house after fleeing the scene? Brilliant, that's the last place they would think to look!
PomeloPepper@reddit
Had the mental capacity to protect herself, but not her son.
imperial_scum@reddit
DUI, child abandonment, fleeing the scene, hit and run if she hit someone else. The good news is he probably won't have to worry about living with her for a while.
impulsive_me@reddit
So very sad.
Illustrious-Toe-2485@reddit
Nothing new folks, this happens more often almost every weekend. Folks never hear about it.
DonkeeJote@reddit
Sad all around.

In case anyone was curious what the scene looked like, here’s the video from last week: https://www.wfaa.com/mobile/article/news/crime/9-year-old-boy-critical-condition-after-left-in-car-following-crash-dallas-police/287-d5f84651-bd49-49f6-8c7a-c5b734b920e3

Who raises some of the people here? Florida?
amor121616@reddit
Wait they didn’t charge her for abandoning her son ?! 😡
DaSilence@reddit
Not yet.
There's no requirement that all charges be brought at once.
This will go to the Grand Jury for the true bill on the charge of Abandoning or Endangering a Child.
jakedfrick@reddit
Wait, you didn't actually read the article before commenting?
amor121616@reddit
“She was subsequently charged with intoxication assault and a collision involving serious bodily injury. ” There is no mention of abandonment of her son 🫠
HovercraftDull3148@reddit
What a horrible “mother”! From the story I read in the DMN, her sister came and picked her up. I wish they could charge her sister with something for leaving her nephew like that.
