Currently learning to drive. Why do I drive so much worse in the morning, as opposed to the afternoon?

In the mornings, while i do remember a lot of the things i have to do, it's like my mind is asleep and i make so much more mistakes. If it wasnt for my instructor, I'd probably have hit multiple people (both in and out of cars), as well as cars, just today. And I keep stalling the car when I dont mean to.
Afternoons, after I've had a little break and have eaten lunch, I drive a lot better. Not perfect by any means, still do make a lot of mistakes, but much less than in the morning.
Does this happen to anyone else? Did it happen to you while you were still learning?

I know this is supposed to be a supportive group Etc etc, but if you have somebody else in the vehicle is a necessity to NOT collide with not only other vehicles but also PEDESTRIANS, I'm going to say that's not okay. Driving is a privilege, not a right.. and frankly that's downright mental.

It's definitely not ok, and i dont want to excuse my driving at all. Usually, it's not as bad as i described in the post originally. I've been working really hard on improving, and last time was MILES better than today. Today was definitely my worst. How can i work on improving this? Could getting more rest in the evening help?

Situational awareness comes with repetition I suppose.

If I were you, I'd make every effort to avoid driving in the mornings until I could drive safely in the afternoons without making a lot of mistakes.

Knowing is half the battle. Think about this before you leave in the morning and try not to continue to rediscover it.

Yep, everyone I drive to the gym in the morning I’m always surprised how much worse at driving I am.

I kinda feel you -- it's been a long time since my driving was a threat to society and to the health and safety of the general public, but yeah man. Driving tired and hungry is harder. Just make sure you get a full night's rest and make up some eggs and toast or something before you leave in the morning. Driving tired is as dangerous as driving drunk, and if you're hungry, it's something that you'll pay attention to that isn't the road.
