Actually right now there arent many ex yugos in our national football team compared to our past national football teams. Right now there is only Drkusic, Stojanovic, Ilicic, Oblak (If you count it, we ussually dont), Kurtic and Bajric. Sesko only has one bosnian grandad if im not wrong. But like in 2010 when we played world cup we had much more ex yugo players like at least 40% or 50% of our team was ex yugo. Sisic,Handanovic, Novakovic, Dedic, Radosavljevic, Ilic, Dzinic, Filekovic, Stevanovic,Jokic and probably even more players but I remember those from my head. Also there are tons of ex yugos and albanians in Slovenia. If you count people who are half slovenes and half ex yugos and people who are only ex yugos together they are around 30% of our population at least. They are everywhere, if you go out in Ljubljana or Maribor half of the people will speak serbo-croatian. In Celje and Kranj half of the people will speak Albanian. Like Slovenia is becoming little Yugoslavia itself especially in the cities. And add to this Slovenia has negative natural increase of population but in recent years every year around 40-50k people immigrate to Slovenia of which around 10k are slovenes but rest are mostly ex yugos and there is also high share of albanians and ukranians. So expect that in next 10-20 years share of ex yugos and albanians will increase to 40-50% of our population so it is not suprising that many of our sports people are from this regions. Btw this is not nationalist rant or anything I love ex yugos and albanians in Slovenia, because I have for vast majority good experiences with them, just telling OP why many of our sports people are from ex yugoslavia.
