I see everyone posting their guns some are nice but … I usually avoid people and situations to where that is necessary I am the weapon and my protection .

Guns are like condoms: rather have one and not need one than need one and not have one.
Bamfurlough@reddit
I mean, not really. If you drop a condom accidentally it's not going to go off and kill you.
Kai_Tenbears@reddit
This is partly true and very misleading.
Bamfurlough@reddit
What?
Kai_Tenbears@reddit
Dropped guns normally don't go off unless they're faulty, black powder, or a flintock.
Bamfurlough@reddit
And yet gun accidents happen all the time.
Kai_Tenbears@reddit
As an experienced gun owner and knowing the truth, when it comes to a discharge of a firearm there are no accidents. As it is, only firearms that accidentally discharge... As I said... are black powder, flintlocks, or the like. Any modern firearm made after 1898... the only way they accidentally discharge is if they are in poor condition and purely the fault of the owner. That also does not happen by accident.
palebd@reddit
But a condom might give you the confidence to engage in riskier sex with riskier people. Same with guns.
Actual_Handle_3@reddit
Neither are guns, unless you try to grab it while it's falling and foul the trigger.
Bamfurlough@reddit
It's also much harder to off yourself with a condom.
Actual_Handle_3@reddit
Great comparison!
"I've got back pain. Should I have a doctor prescribe pain pills?" "No, use a condom instead! Nobody had ever accidentally ODed or offed themselves with a condom. And not only that, drug mules frequently put contraband IN a condom to hide them from search!"
Bamfurlough@reddit
I dunno man. Nobody has ever accidentally shot themselves with a condom. 🤣

"Unintentional injury is a leading cause of death among U.S. children and adolescents aged 0–17 years, and firearms are a leading injury method."
ElectronicGarden5536@reddit
Thats supposed to be the entire point of carrying a gun around. A lot of the clowns that do carry carry a real POS on their 50 inch waist on an uncle mikes holster. Youd never go camping or hunting without one either.
beerbro78@reddit
Guns are like condoms: i carry a magnum so people think im big.
palebd@reddit
Have you tried the regular condoms? They're way too tight. It's like they make the "regular" ones small so that people think they're bigger because they have to buy the Magnums.
Lord_Muddbutter@reddit
Guns are like condoms: you find an empty one on the side of the street and you take a picture
Kai_Tenbears@reddit
I used to go to the Port of Oakland and San Francisco. And it's better to be safe than 6 feet under. Saved my life too, so yeah... If you don't go to dangerous places maybe, but the majority of us don't.
DrillTheThirdHole@reddit
i run over donner to the oakland port daily and... yeah fuck not having that thing on me. california be damned
RepublicOk9956@reddit (OP)
Those are my neighboring home cities so I get it 😂
Kai_Tenbears@reddit
Yeah, I used to work the ports and drive into Stockton a lot. Back in 2021 I had a person throw a brick through my windshield and come running at my truck when I was at the stoplight on the intersection of Broadway and Third. Floored the truck, called the cops, cops didn't do shit. So I started packing, Concealed Carry be damned.
Then there was the second incident, it was off of Roth Rd, I was stuck on one side of the tracks with a train blocking the road right before the entrance into the Union Pacific. Saw a dude come sniffing and then demanding I open the door. Told him no. Then he proceeded to use a tire iron and start hitting my door and broke the driver side window. When he did that I pulled out my sp01 and pointed it at him. This only enraged him more, he tried jumping up to grab my gun so I pulled the trigger a few times. The police initially tried to arrest me because I didn't have a Concealed Carry permit. But the case was later thrown out because it was determined to be a justified homicide especially since I was trapped behind those tracks. Initially I nearly got fired, but I fought them on it and won.
RepublicOk9956@reddit (OP)
Damn that wild 😭
Bamfurlough@reddit
That's the correct attitude to have and it's backed up by a lot of evidence. Owning a gun makes you far more likely to be the victim of gun violence or a gun accident.
western-Equipment-18@reddit
That is true. Nothing wrong with owning a gun, as long as you are safety minded. These asshats posting their guns aren't about safety. Makes me wonder how well they do their pre trips.🙄
oasuke@reddit
Yes, because people without guns don't have any way to protect themselves. They are at the mercy of aggressor.
Bamfurlough@reddit
And yet people who don't own guns are safer from gun violence.
RoosterzRevenge@reddit
No, it doesn't. You are spreading false talking points.
Bamfurlough@reddit
https://publichealth.jhu.edu/center-for-gun-violence-solutions/research-reports/firearm-violence-in-the-united-states#firearm-ownership-and-safety
It's a very true talking point. Owning a gun in America does not make you safer.
I would be curious what research would say if it was aimed specifically at truck drivers, but I suspect it wouldn't be good. Given the loneliness and isolation of truck driving, carrying a gun is a terrible idea.
Camohunter0330@reddit
That article is so biased and terrible. I think all these posts with these truckers and their guns is dumb af but that article is even dumber.
By its logic if I carry a knife I'm more at risk of being stabbed or cut simply because a knife is in close proximity. Lmao
StonedTrucker@reddit
It's really not. The chances of injury by gun go up drastically if you have a gun in the home. I am a gun owner and support the 2nd ammendment but denying this fact is just cope.
I'm willing to take the risk of hurting myself in order to be prepared in case somebody else wishes to do me harm. That's part of the responsibility of owning guns.
It makes perfect sense too. Who is more likely to have an accident? The person who never fires a gun in their life, or the person who goes to the range and practices every weekend?
Bamfurlough@reddit
Thank you. That's a sensible response.
Bamfurlough@reddit
Sure man. The John Hopkins School of Public Health has been ranked number #1 in the US for like the past three decades. It's also ranked number #2 in the world.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johns_Hopkins_Bloomberg_School_of_Public_Health
But I'm sure you know better. 😂
RoosterzRevenge@reddit
One opinion piece bu JHU (a known anti gun establishment) is not proof. With 120 firearms per every 100 people in the US, if JHU was correct we, as Americans, would be extinct. Last I checked we were, in fact, not extinct. Oh, and your other comment regarding dropping one and it going off shows just how ignorant you are on the subject. If your firearm will discharge upon dropping, something is wrong with it. Maybe you need to satisfy your fetish somewhere else.
yankee_chef@reddit
Absolutely True
SRG590@reddit
Why are so many people anti gun in here? Id expect better from truckers. Truckers used to be majority Republican.
Bamfurlough@reddit
I'm not anti gun either. I'm just pro-facts. Guns don't make you safer. It's been proven over and over again.
If you like guns that's fine. Just don't delude yourself.
RepublicOk9956@reddit (OP)
Yea anti gun is crazy im all for guns I feel like people should do as they please
SRG590@reddit
Right, guns aren't the problem. Cars kill more people than guns every year yet nobody wants to take cars away from people. Or do they ask for justification when someone wants a 500hp Corvette...
NeoAcario@reddit
Considering most of my hazardous material loads, either go to secure sites or across the border, no guns for me in any case.
oasuke@reddit
We travel to unfamiliar locations and sometimes park in questionable spots, without any security. You've got to be naive not to carry a gun with you.
RepublicOk9956@reddit (OP)
You have to be naive to roam around like it’s familiar territory just chill handle business and leave conduct yourself like a man and men will respect it
oasuke@reddit
What? You have no idea if you're in a crime infested area with bums, drug addicts and other nonsense. All it takes is a scumbag pulling out a hammer or knife. A co-worker I was friends with got robbed his first week doing OTR. Fuck that. My gun stays on me.
RepublicOk9956@reddit (OP)
That’s wassup that’s good for you ppl know who to try I walk with god and I’m a man it’ll be a hard day for them boys they come over here playing wether I have a gun or not
Charlie_Hustler@reddit
Naw, I literally have an 80k lb missle at my disposal. Why would I need a small little gun 😂
oasuke@reddit
That missle only works when it's in motion.
Then-Background-1391@reddit
I don’t think you need a pistol to go trucking I never did
Mfenix09@reddit
I'm not against guns...but you look like wankers with your pics of them...its just weird...like your sexuality, keep it to yourself and don't yell to the world what your into...
