Last minute flights to anywhere?

My birthday is next weekend and I want to go somewhere last minute. Does anyone have any resources on getting last minute cheap flights to anywhere within the US? Is this possible through Allegiant or Spirit or something typically? Pretty open on destination, just want to get out of town and wondering if anyone has done similar or has creative ideas. I’m in Montana so not near a major hub, but I know allegiant flies out of airports close to me.

Vegas generally has cheap flights and plenty of them. It's not my favorite place but it is easy to book a trip on short notice there.

Vegas crossed my mind as a place allegiant flies to (I think) but I’m not a big partier and that city makes me anxious hahah. Is there much close by that you know about that could be fun last minute that doesn’t really involve typical “Vegas” attractions?

There's lots of great nature around Vegas. Southern Utah national parks, grand canyon, and even some nice hikes under 2 hours from the city.

Sedona Az also.

Valley of Fire State Park, Red Rocks, Hoover Dam/Lake Mead area with in about an hour of the city. Zion NP, and Grand Canyon are a few hours away. I'm not much of a gambler/partier but we enjoy the Pinball Hall of Fame, the museums and the downtown art area is nice too.

Use Skyscanne and choose "everwhere" as a destination.
Id recommend playing around with which airport youre departing from as well. Its how i got a ticket to Amsterdam for 90 euros (2 hours fropm Helsinki) instead of 180 euros (6-8 hours from Riga).

Seattle is our favourite weekend destination. 3-5 days from Alberta(close-ish to Montana) to Seattle. Flights are usually under $200 a person. Seattle is very walkable and I would definitely suggest the MoPop museum. Incredible. My daughter and I go. Lots of great boutique hotels and so much to do if you like to just explore.

Travelocity had a last minute trip deal section. Idk if it's still there.

Also in MT. If you have allegiant options, it's easier to go to their website directly. Same with Southwest, which is also a great option from some of the larger airports here. SW many different destinations for cheap (some do have layovers in Denver though but not terrible)

Go to google flights and put your departing dates and airport and I think you can but destination: “anywhere” and filter by price. It’s actually really fun I’ve done it without having real plans to go anywhere just to kill time.

Also: if you have lots of layovers, the ticket becomes dirt cheap.
So, find the cheapest ticket with a layover where you actually intend to go. Then just leave the airport.

It’s called skiplagging

Cool never knew it had a name

I second this! I've been to so many fun places on a whim for pretty cheap by just putting dates and departure airport into Google flights and booking whatever comes up!
Olivenoodler@reddit
If you have the ability, click “flexible dates” and it will find really good deals in interesting places. I just realized I can fly to Europe for a week direct for $300 🤔

Do it!!!

If you don’t need a hotel or a rental car (in which case a package can often beat published air rates), this is 100% the correct answer.

Check Arajet

Do you have any credit card points accumulated? I have a seats.aero sub and don’t mind looking up if there’s any cheap flights. Unfortunately just applies to credit card redemptions as far as I’m aware
No-Resolve944@reddit
I have a bunch of points would you mind looking for me?

Couple of other questions

I’m not op. Can I DM for flying out of Cincinnati
GoLoco511@reddit
Whoops didn’t even notice. Go for it
GoLoco511@reddit
For sure! I’ve only had this for about two months for a personal trip, so I can’t guarantee that I’m using it effectively. I know you said you’re in Montana but idk any of the major cities there, what airport would you fly out of?

If you’re really feeling adventurous, and based on the west coast, there are nonstop flights to Tokyo for $580 right now

Happy early birthday!
Delta Vacations is great for this because, since it’s wholly owned by Delta, if you book a qualifying hotel stay (usually 3 nights minimum but sometimes 2 qualifies) it can eliminate advance purchase requirements for airfares. It has lead to some really awesome last minute deals for my clients (I’m a travel agent) that I haven’t been able to match with any other suppliers (notably, all other airline vacation brands are just selling their name to big wholesalers). Plus you’re flying Delta and not a budget airline.
There isn’t a public facing interface that shows the best deals so you would have to hunt and peck, but there are ways for agents to use a back end tool to simplify figuring out what might have low fare inventory. Feel free to reach out if I can help (and if you weren’t aware, it doesn’t usually cost you anything to work with a travel agent, we get our commissions on the back end) and hope you are able to figure out a great trip!

Look at Skyscanner. It’s an app that has inexpensive flights
