It’s raining, the car hydroplaned, and the driver overcorrected.
Doesn’t look like a drift. Likely bald tires
Stunt_Vist@reddit
I used to have summer tyres that would hydroplane consistently in mild rain if you took it above 100 km/h lol. They had loads of tread, fat grooves, decent looking grooves between the treadblocks to throw water out to the sides etc. Still wouldn't stop them from hydroplaning all the time. Drove on them until the end of that year and got a new set despite only doing one oil change worth of driving on them, not worth keeping when you can get get 100 treadwear semislicks with 1 groove that still hydroplane less somehow.
Lopsided_Quiet6273@reddit
Cheap tirea with a super hard compound most likely
Stunt_Vist@reddit
Good guess because that's exactly what they were. That is if you consider GoodYear's cheap.
Some cheapo chinese tyres that were 40 a piece ended up being better lol. They compensate for the lack of R&D by making every tyre with a relatively soft compound so the grip ain't bad, and the tread pattern and whatnot is probably just a licensed old design from a big name-brand like Michelin.
Lopsided_Quiet6273@reddit
Depends on the Goodyears. Some are better than others. The Goodyear eagles are shit. Was that what they were?
Stunt_Vist@reddit
Don't remember anymore. Gave them to a guy who used it for burnouts, any tyre is good for that at least.

Rapid Unscheduled Disassembly (RUD)
mctwiddle@reddit
I can see the stupid is strong with this one
devonte3062@reddit
Nothing about this was intentional.. did I just watch someone die?
10lugthuggin@reddit
I'm pretty sure that wasn't intentional lol I think the ass end got loose due to shitty tires and they over corrected. Rough day
Natural_Selection905@reddit
I knew a guy who drove like this. He ran his tires until the wires were uniformly visible. In the winter.
komstock@reddit
If it's metal-to-ice...couldn't that potentially help?
10lugthuggin@reddit
No. You want pressure on ice. I can do 65mph on a sheet of ice in my 80,000 pound truck and probably still steer and stop twice as well as you can in your 5000 pound car, because I have more pressure pushing me into the ice. If I lock my wheels we're still gonna have a problem, but I will say that my truck handles a lot better on ice than my car.
With bald tires, you don't have any tread putting pressure into the ice, you're spreading the little weight you have over a bigger surface area, basically turning your tire into a ski.
The other thing to consider is that a large part of your tire tread's job is water evacuation. Treads are designed not to hydroplane. Hydroplaning occurs when water builds up under and in front of your tire and forms a barrier between the tire and the road surface. If you have shitty tread (due to design or excessive wear), the water will have nowhere to go and will build up and cause hydroplaning.
Generally, if there's ice, there's also snow and water. If you have no tread to help manage the snow and water and move it out of the way, you're going to hydroplane much easier, which removes the already miniscule amount of traction you may have.
When I said this guy's accident was caused due to shitty tires, I'm thinking they were bald which caused him to hydroplane. I'd almost rather drive on ice with good tires than drive anywhere with bald tires.

Wild guess here.
The car obviously gets the right front tire on the inside of the road, which causes the driver to overcorrect leading to him spinning out on the highway.
My wild guess is that this happens because the driver is distracted. Likley looking at his phone at a critical moment. There is no other reason to nearly drive out of the road on the inside there.
Lopsided_Quiet6273@reddit
Some lawyer is still going to try to make this the truckers fault.
NightKnight96@reddit
I mean. If the truck was behind the white car in the right lane he would’ve perfectly threaded the needle.
Open shut case to me.
134679112@reddit
And the company is still going to ask if he can make the delivery. He’s in a coma, but companies would agree you don’t need to be conscious to drive
chrochtato@reddit
drifting? check
video? check
Worried-Choice5295@reddit
Hope the truck driver is okay.
Red_Sox0905@reddit
Hope they were all ok
Crazy-Camera-3388@reddit
No, I just hope the trucker is ok.

did they die?
jwoodruff@reddit
There’s no way they survived that, not in that car for sure. Semi truck literally drives over top of the drivers side of the car if you slow it down.
Needs a NSFW tag.
UhOhAllWillyNilly@reddit
Years ago I used to tell people “Trucks don’t run into cars, trucks run over cars.” It appears to be still true.
MachStyle@reddit
It looks like the car made it out alright. The truck hit it right in the front fender and I think he drove up on the cars wheel and probably ripped the engine out. There's a brief moment when the car is still spinning but slowing down, you can see the entire passenger compartment is still pretty well intact.
Plus a lateral hit like that isn't as violent as a straight tbone or head on. Spinning on its axis is much easier on the body. I've even experienced this first hand in an accident when my car lost control after being ran off the road and then went 70 side ways into the guardrail. a witness said they saw my car spin 3.5 times and I was just fine. The engine was basically in the firewall and the hood flew about 50 feet from the car.
Silverback6543@reddit
Was that a preventable? Would the driver lose there job? If they did get fired would they get another job?
CumminOnOnionRings@reddit
Hahaha howd they sync the music soo good??

Oops I did it again.

I was driving through NC one night. It's raining. I hate driving at night when it's raining. Well a car decides to pass me. I believe it was some higher end Mercedes rwd model. In any event they decided to get in front on me in my lane. I was already going slow. Next thing I know they started spinning. Luckily no other traffic so I was able to get over and they didn't turn back into me while they were spinning. So disaster diverted. I decided to stop shortly after that for the night and check my pants.

Damn that video looks old enough to be from Faces of Death.

Fucked up that truck drivers day, man.
jonnynoine@reddit
I don’t know what that tanker was hauling, but I’m sure it’s something hazardous. Props to that driver for holding his lane.
Royal-Application708@reddit
I think that car just disintegrated
Super-Magnificent@reddit
Dude…put a NSFW on this…
Crushed_95@reddit
Now, "Smokey and the Bandit" will be replaying in their mind over and over and over again!
Fit_Hospital2423@reddit
Man, the people in the car were soooo lucky but I’m wondering about the truck. He was obviously loosing it as he went out of the frame.
gengarjuice69@reddit (OP)
yeah looked pretty nasty on his end, hit that barrier pretty hard but at least it was the passenger side at that point
