Pretty much complete. Definitely not everyone's style, but I love it.

Retro, I suppose is in the eye of the beholder, and this takes me back to my childhood and early teens. Pentium 3 @ 750mhz, 512MB of 133 ram, and 120GB SSD (yes I know but it's big, fast, and reliable).
The goal was to be able to play anything that a modern PC can't play without emulation and look good doing it.

What movie or video is that being played on the monitor

That's the command and conquer red alert 2 intro

Thank you

That's awesome 👍 I put a socket 7 in a modern case a while back (fractal r6) it looked so tidy and neat.

This thing ended up with a far nicer case than my actual PC, it's just in a microcenter brand one I got for like 40$

Nice, but not sure that setup is going to generate enough heat to require all those fans?
DickKickem1990@reddit (OP)
Not even close
Kenohel@reddit
Never seen a slot 1 cpu with two fans. Awesome build anyway.

Man... the P3 was a good looking CPU. I bought my first P3 in 1999 and have very fond memories of it. All the great games I played on it... can't believe it's already been 25 years...

I always thought the slot 1 processors were cool. Gives it a more unique look compared to socket cpus.

Slota A was the same for AMD. In fact, the SC242 slot was mechanically identical to slot 1, but electrically different. The slot was flipped 180 degrees so it would be more obvious that user is installing something wrong.
Reblist@reddit
Yeah absolutely.

Very cool!

The problem with modern cases is no bays for optical and floppy drives, which are sort of important, especially for DOS stuff. I have found ATX 1.0 socket 7 board and I am building very beige desktop based on that, and I had to scour ebay for appropriate horrible beige case to go with it. Also, ATX 1/0 power supplies with -5V for ISA are somewhat hard to find nowadays ;-).

look up the fractal pop air, only case i have found with 2 5.25 in bays

PIII days were a lot of fun esp a PII/PIII dual setup

If the computer makes you happy, who cares what the internet thinks? 🤷♂️🤷♂️

I heard people call this a reverse sleeper pc, I like it!

It’s a unique take on retro gaming, you can’t hate it. Only reason anyone would be turned off from the modern look would be they’re in it for the aesthetic as well.
