Am I delusional and actually in the wrong here?

I’m selling my car and this young guy contacts me saying he’s interested, we talk price and everything then he says he needs the title before his check will clear. I said nope, that’s not how it works.. I will not sign over title until funds are verified. He said that’s what his financial advisor requires so I said no. He of course “found a better deal anyways”. Then a couple weeks later he messaged again and I said I still can’t sign over title until funds are verified. He comes that night and immediately wants it. This is where I got a little too loose, I know.. He hands me a company check (we agreed on cashiers check). I told him I didn’t have title so we signed an agreement that I would provide it in a timely manner provided the funds are legit. In the morning I call the bank and they are like call the police asap! That account has been closed for some time and is fraudulent. I call the cops to get some advice, they report it stolen and pull him over that night and tow the car. Prior to him being pulled over I told him the check was bad and he needed to get me funds asap and he comes back with “I told you the check wouldn’t clear til I have the title”. I explained over and over that 1. That is not how things work and 2. The check would’ve never clear cleared because the account is closed. Over the last almost two weeks, he keeps coming back to me saying I’m in the wrong because I sold the car without the title then falsely reported it stolen and had him harassed. I keep telling him he NEVER ACTUALLY BOUGHT THE CAR, but he won’t hear it. I have also agreed to meet him at the bank multiple times to just get this done with and it would look better on him in court for the charges, but he bails last min. Am I crazy? If I would’ve give him the title, that check never would have cleared.. is there something my I’m missing here??
