This kind of technology with the Dongfeng Mengshi raises some interesting questions about control and escalation. A silent, invisible weapon that can take out drones sounds clean and efficient, but what happens when every country or company has one? Lasers don’t make noise, and they leave almost no trace. That’s powerful, but also kind of unsettling when you think about how easy it would be to deny an attack.

The design of the Dongfeng Mengshi looks cool, sure, but I wonder how much of this is actually practical outside of demonstrations. Lasers are great in controlled conditions, but on a dusty battlefield or in rain? Not so much. Maybe we’re still in that phase where militaries need flashy tech to prove they’re advancing, even if the usefulness isn’t there yet. Still, it’s fascinating progress.

I’ve read that the Silent Hunter laser can take out drones a few kilometers away depending on atmospheric conditions. If that’s true, mounting it on a Mengshi makes sense for mobility and rapid response. Still, I can’t help but think about how complicated maintenance must be for something like this in the field. Definitely one of the cooler setups I’ve seen lately. Dong feng Mengshis are awesome.
