Eagle Farm Area in MK: Safe?
Posted by throwawaygermany69@reddit | miltonkeynes | View on Reddit | 22 comments
Hi everyone,
My family and I are planning to move to MK pretty soon, we’re torn between areas: Whitehouse and Eagle Farm,
We kind of like the homes in Eagle Farm better, however: On Crystal Roof Crime data it seems Eagle Farm area is pretty high (7/10), is this data accurate? How dangerous is this area?
Any other pros/cons between the two areas we should know about?
Thanks a lot in advance!

I have been living in whitehouse for 3 years and I can say it is a pretty safe neighbourhood. Schools are good too. If you need to commute to MK central station, it’s only 9 mins drive away.

Hey - i'm moving there soon. Wanted to ask is it also commutable via bike ride from whitehouse to MK central?
Spiritual_Ad_7492@reddit
I have never taken a bike from Whitehouse to the train station. Taking a bike to the station shouldn’t be a problem as there are proper bike bay to park your bike. Also, the biking path is also well paved with tarmac. Bus is alright. On time arrival. It is advisable to have a car if you are planning to live here though.

I see multiple people asking similar questions. Safety is subjective. If you want to make an informed decision this map would be helpful. I found this map from a previous post in this subreddit and it maps the index of multiple deprivations.

Is there any more up to date data? As it seems that's from 2019

Idk sorry.

I’m right in the middle of glebe and eagle farm. Agreed with above it feels safe. Most people on the estate are really friendly. I walk my dog alone and some times go running by myself - most of the estate is well lit, so I’m pretty happy going out and about when it’s dark. You can look up the crimes reported on streetcheck.co.uk and it will tell you roughly what’s gone on, on a month by month basis. I had a Quick Look and there seems to be a lot going on at the petrol station/kingston shopping centre/ the kfc which would impact our stats.

I live in Eagle farm south and I like the area. It’s as safe as you can get in MK to be honest. There are opportunistic robberies of unlocked cars items at night but the majority of the houses have ring cameras so people often post on facebook the faces of the scumbags, making it harder for them to keep their “activities”.

I live in Glebe Farm with my family. I like it here and would recommend it especially for people with families. I find it pretty safe too, I see loads of young families walking together in the late evenings or young kids playing outside.
Happy to share more specifics over DM

Eagle farm is very safe, those statistics don’t line up at all with my experience.
Also in general it’s pretty quiet and very handy for connection to central MK, Bedford and the M1. Also a bus service goes through the estate.

Both are very new estates so difficult to give a true opinion on. Typical with all new estates in mk you have a mix of social housing (what may be deemed as a rougher) and expensive 4/5 bed detached houses so complete opposite ends of the spectrum, but overall I would say pretty much safe as you can get. Grew up and lived in mk most of my life and would say I would confidently walk through any estate any time, even the estates that are far 'rougher' than the 2 you have mentioned

Thank you very much :)

If these are speciIically the only 2 locations you are looking at i would would actuallt base this decision on equal terms, and instead look at quandries such as ease of travel to work, proximity to decent schools, proximity to retail parks you would most likely visit, proximity to other possible regular journeys (such as regular family visits?), local amenities, local parks and leisure,
If you are more fluid on location, would be happy to provide further opinions!

I live there and I would say it's very safe. A few cars had their catalytic converters stolen couple of years ago. More recently there has been "opportunity thefts" - people not locking cars/leaving valuables in sight - but that is the same pretty much for any estate in any built up area.
I've not seen or heard anything to do with sexual assault or anything like that, that seems very odd.
We have a primary school and a new Sainsbury's, 2 decent parks and the country side on our doorstep.
A through school in next door Glebe Farm as well as other parks.
Doesn't take long to get into CMK and easy to get into Bedford - and obviously the M1.
It's a decent place, lots of young families around, slowly building a community.

Would you happen to know if Glebe Farm School’s catchment area covers Eagle Farm?
Also, would really appreciate if I can message you for some more tiny questions, no worries if not :)
geekbeat13@reddit
So, Eagle Farm have a primary school, when the children leave primary they'll go to Glebe Farm, but if you lived in Glebe Farm (and Wavendon and a few other places near by) your child would start primary there and stay until leaving age. (So 4 until 18?).
I've just seen that link for the crime rates, unfortunately I think it is done on postcode not so much estate Vs estate, so those numbers are probably coming from the near by warehouses/Kingston.
And yeah feel free to send me a message, happy to help.

Thanks again for the help!
I think your account has disabled messages from unknown users so cannot really message you first,
We’re actually really keen on Glebe Farm school, for primary, would it be a risk if we live in Eagle Farm? The school is like 15 mins walk away from the (potential) home. How risky is the catchment area system in this case? Is there a way to calculate this risk somehow?
sotonjack@reddit
If you google mk school catchment you can find the criteria they use, and then it will also state the distance threshold that was applied to the last intake (it varies depending on number of applications and number of higher priority places (eg existing child already at school)

Thank you SO MUCH!

Afaik that area is pretty safe. Probably the crime is related to assaults to lorries who used to stop for sleep overnight in those roads during the building. I know an avenue there that was full of lorries.
throwawaygermany69@reddit (OP)
Thanks for the info, it’s reported as “Violence and sexual assault”, would this be accurate to the lorry problem you described?
It’s just strange as the area felt pretty safe to us when we visited.

That website is crap. I've updated my comment.
