You can see they definitely had “inspirations” when designing most of these. Apart from number ten that should be made illegal because is fucking disgusting looking they all look sick
JGegenheimer@reddit
or...
1 - Not a Lotus
2 - ?
3 - ?
4 -?
5 - Not a Ford Festiva
6 - Not a Chevy Blazer
7 - Not a Jeep
8 - Not a Corvette
9 - Not a Porche
10 - Mazda 280zx
11 - Not a Cadillac
12 - Not a Mustang
13 - Not a VW Cabriolet
14 - Not a Lamborghini Countach

These were my initial impressions. Please, feel free to offer more/better examples.
gnomesvh@reddit
Alfa tipo 33 was the inspiration
3 is loosely a Porsche 928 inspired design (esp from the rear) but more in the sense of "we like the rear lights"
8 is "not a GT40" (also in the literal sense, actually raced against one at the time)
9 is closer to a mini Ferrari 275, although the Porsche comparison would be closer to the later Pumas that came from it
11 is a clear copy of the Volvo ECC (which turned into the S80)
"Not a Mustang" is a better name for the FNM Onça
13 is not a Ford Escort
JGegenheimer@reddit
Good calls all, and thanks for the additional info!
Bamres@reddit
I feel like 11 is definitely and clearly a reworked Volvo chassis.
gnomesvh@reddit
Actually predates the S80
(Also used a turbo Lotus I4)
Bamres@reddit
Weird, even the front looks tacked on, like it was moulded for something else.
gnomesvh@reddit
The whole thing was galvanized steel with moulded plastic, it's a mess of a build lol
(also apparently they weren't meant to have the Lotus engines)
theonetrueelhigh@reddit
Before spitting on it too much, look up Mitsuoka. They have a model that looks like it's literally spitting.
BlumpkinLord@reddit
These are rad and I thank you for this gift
leglesslegolegolas@reddit
How is everyone seeing cars here? I see a single thumbnail image, with no other pictures at all.
coffee_shakes@reddit
25 year rule. Time to start importing some cool cars from Brazil.
A_Light_Spark@reddit
Besides fhe first 3, the rest are all bastardization of previously good designs to make them worse in everyway possible. Creative bankruptcy.
tenderlylonertrot@reddit
I kind of like that 2nd one, the L'automobille Ventura, wonder what's under the hood (and how it handles). Also, just for shits and giggles, I kind of like that retro/fake Countach-like one, the Hofstetter Turbo. The Malzoni GT Second Generation isn't bad either.
gnomesvh@reddit
Rear engined VW flat-four
The Hofstetter in prototype stage iirc ran a F3 engine
AnotherNeverWas@reddit
Excellent posts my man. This is top content for this sub. Also, wtf I love Brazilian cars and no one told me until now?!
theonetrueelhigh@reddit
Brazil is automobile Australia. Due to weird protectionist policies imported cars were virtually unheard of in Brazil for a long time. VW skirted around this by establishing a manufacturing base there and running it almost like a franchise. VW do Brasil generated some perfectly recognizable products like Beetles, but others were distinct (like the Gol) and VW running gear was really convenient for other manufacturers: hello, Puma.
So a lot of automotive evolution took place without the usual competition being dominated by the global heavyweights like Ford, though of course VW is most definitely the elephant in this particular room. For everything else, imagine if cars in the rest of the world are varieties of deer and other ungulates, but in Brazil they're marsupials. Car kangaroos.
And of course the Amazonas motorcycle. That's a platypus.
AnotherNeverWas@reddit
That’s awesome detail, thanks bud.
