So fed up with drivers jumping in front of me, to then hard brake to make their turn

As the title states, when people do this it is so damn annoying. I’ll try to attach a video in the comments. Today I was riding on a 2 lane road with a Range Rover behind me, going 50 in a 40. They were behind me with a good following distance for over 2 miles, then I made this turn onto this road. Just a few seconds after I made the turn they slammed on the gas (I could hear it with my window down) and then slammed on the brakes to make their turn.
The range rover’s (and many other driver’s) logic here drives me insane, I know it’s minor and obviously not a big deal lmao. Hear me out though, any logical/decent person will not inconvenience someone else when the innocent person has been completely neutral. Does anyone have an explanation for this selfishness? Rant over, thanks lol

If it's a left hand turn they wait until the last minute because people harass them for driving any distance in the left lane. Be mad at the cars that harass n tailgate everyone in left lanes for that. Right hand turns well that's mind boggling why they wait.

People are starting to treat all roads that have more than one lane like this. At least in the western US they are. Phoenix , LA, Nevada n Salt Lake all have people treating more than one lane like this. Those are the few cities I have drive in recently.

I drive a van a lot for work and a lot of people will drive aggressively because they don't want to be driving behind a van for whatever reason. Best thing you can do is imagine that you are all on the same team and try to help your fellow divers out. Let people do the stupid things they want to do and enjoy your day!
Sometimes easier said than done but I try to stick to that philosophy. When I realize I'm getting pissed at other drivers I try and reset my mindset.

I hate driving behind a van because I can't see with you in front of me. But I drive a very small car where the breaks are not as reactive as other cars so I need to see if everyone else is braking before I brake. Cars nowadays brake last minute and I hate it. So I'll go in a different lane so I don't have to slam on the brakes and have a mini heat attack because all I see is the back of van.
That being said I'm not going to be an AH about it by cutting you off or tailgating. I just go somewhere else where I can actually see.

i personally don’t like driving behind a van because i cannot see past it. same with vehicles with mad tinted rear windows. hate that shit. those cars i try to get around, cuz i’m always looking at least 3 cars ahead

The person who is sitting in the van sits higher up than you and has an even better view of what's ahead. Create enough distance when you drive behind a van so you can drive with less stress.

Well it's funny because I actually drive a minivan and I always have my Google maps GPS on which shows me the speed limits on all the roads and tend to leave enough room when driving behind other vehicles and I will see drivers get angry and pass me literally rev up their engines. The funny thing about it is I get to be entertained watching them constantly break and tailgate and weave in and out of cars in front of me anyways

well yes, i dont drive close anyways, but my habit is to look where i want to go, not where i am going, and when something large is blocking that view, then i cannot where i want to go. and thus, i change lanes

I don’t have an issue with people owning large vehicles but as everyone else said I don’t like driving behind them. Don’t know if you’re smart enough to strap your shit down correctly either.

This. I get passed on sidewalks in my work van in Chicago. People will literally just pop up a curb hit 30-40 in a residential, pass me then slam on the brakes to stop in the spot ahead of me.

Within reason, I can see why people would want to pass you, depending on the size of your vehicle. Heavier vehicles, bigger tires, and a few other factors make larger vehicles kick up more rocks with more force.

Aside from almost causing an accident, I wouldn’t do that because I wouldn’t win that game haha. I’m in a 20 year old Lexus, my acceleration is good so there’s nothing for others to complain about, but I’m not going to win against a higher trim Range Rover

As a semi driver that’s been a daily occurrence for 20+ years. And 80,000 lbs doesn’t stop on a dime. It’s done mostly by high end SUBs, Subarus and BMW drivers is my experience. All makes do it but those mentioned do it at a higher occurrence. When motorcycles do it, it is scary to think what little will be left of the body will need a stick and a spoon. Though to their credit motorcycles have only done this like 3 times I. The last 20 years. Subarus can do it 3 times in an hour. Pass fast then pull in too close. Slam brakes and hit the exit on the freeway. Reason they slammed brakes was car shead of me at just right distance and same speed. What’s worse is no one else might be within a mile of us.

A few years ago that would be what I would’ve done. After moving back to Baltimore and being around a lot of weird crime, I tend to hold back on horn usage. People have the biggest egos, especially someone with a tinted out Range Rover haha

I’ve had men stare at me and follow me close to my home for blowing my horn, it has happened twice now. Never happened in Pennsylvania but started when I moved back here. I’m not interested in putting a target on my back as a lone woman in her 20s. I definitely honk at idiots (you can see some dash cam vids on my page with me doing that), people around Baltimore are insane. Tinting my windows a few months ago definitely made me feel a lot better though.

I'm baffled by people even using hand brakes for normal driving. I know in the UK you're meant to activate them when you're at a full stop at a traffic light or something. And if you're stuck driver you can use them for drifting and stuff. In the usa, I've only ever used them when parking. I know theoretically they can be used if you lose control of your normal brakes.

I think a lot of it has to go with people seeing what's ahead of them easier than behind them. It's easier to see the gap in front of you than the gap behind you.
But some people are just jerks. And the odds of someone being a jerk goes up exponentially if they're driving a Range Rover.

I deal with it hundreds of times a day. I deliver fuel to gas stations. I've had idiots cut me off to pull into and buy gas from the very station that I'm about to deliver to. It's no surprise that more and more of us experiemced and mindful Hazardous material drivers are hanging up the steering wheel and saying to hell with it - the world can deal with the consequences accordingly.

The issue is that he was behind me, perfectly happy with my speed for miles. For some reason they decided to speed up around me to then force me to either go around or brake. It’s an asshole move…

It's just as bad as the people that merge (not sure if it's the right word) onto the road aggressively, almost cutting you off, making you have to brake, if not slam the brakes, when you're literally the only car they would've had to wait for.
Just today I had one lady like that and she lowkey scared me because I didn't notice her very soon (my fault of course), but I was pretty slow anyways so I noticed her cutting me off early enough, so I just kept my foot off gas — I got quite scared for the sole reason that I noticed her not even fucking looking in my direction, like wtf, she didn't even look before driving off, and my boyfriend confirmed it.

I’ve had people do that when pulling a trailer. So dumb. Almost ended up in a woman’s back seat once. Lucky for her, she got out of the way after laying on the horn. It was close.

My commute is on a road like that with a 50 mph speed limit, and I see that behavior all the time. ALL THE TIME. So whenever anyone gets in front of me in my lane, I now just automatically take my foot off the gas so I can get more space between us.
People keep saying that it should be ok to speed because cars are so much better now, but driving skills are definitely a lot worse, and there are a lot of people who are not into car maintenance....lots have bad tires and no brakes.....so talk all you want, half of you should probably not only drive better, but you need to get your shit fixed. LOL
