There's enough E-Types out there that I don't mind some sacrilege, but I'll be honest, you don't tend to hear about the Es' handling prowess or rigidity, and between that and the wire wheels, I can't imagine this thing is any more functional than a stanced car.
Maybe their goal was simply something that looks like a nice old E-Type, but put your foot down and it'll peel away twice as fast as anyone expects. At least once it's rolling you'd be able to hook it up decently and get some boogey.
Maybe they have another set of wider wheels for when they wanna be more boisterous.
Maybe they had to replace the engine anyway and got carried away, with the only reason being "Because I can."
Maybe they have plans to make it more capable outside the donk and just haven't decided exactly what they wanna do yet.
Hard to tell because the plenum is covering the manifold, but it's not a classic 427FE engine that most people would associate with a Cobra. It's a small block Ford, so could be a 289, 302 or 351w or any variant stroker motor. There is a 427 kit based on a 351w.
Also, like pointed out in another reaping, that's a turbo, not a proclaimers.
Yeah I’m not a fan. Feat of engineering maybe, but that car doesn’t need 700hp. 300 is more than enough. And it’s manual steering. A jag is not just about acceleration.
I’ve worked on and driven a couple of these. In my opinion they’re about as close the perfect from the factory as you can get in terms of road feel. The power is just right with that big six and the handling is beyond impressive for a 1950’s platform.
I’m very impressed they got that thing in there, it’s a very tight engine bay. That said there’s no way in hell that thing stays cool for very long. Cooling was an issue with an inline six, turbo v8? Good luck.
An abomination that wants to destroy you in a heartbeat given the chance! However, it is a feat of engineering and mechanical skill to get it together and looking that nice.

How much is your turbo lag.
Yes

Jaguar E-Type with a turbo'd 427 Cobra engine? Beautiful sacrilege.

Now imagine a Shelby Cobra with a rotary engine.
newoldschool@reddit
there is one near my job with a 2.7 ecoboost
noisymime@reddit
Assuming it wasn’t a GT500, that’d be a decent bump from the original torque/power figures.
newoldschool@reddit
it was a 289 that was wrecked so he rebuilt it with a tubular front end replica front body work managed to squeeze in a ridetech irs rear
f150 engine and transmission
it's under 2000lbs and it's a track monster with all the trophy's he got
Stevenwave@reddit
That's badass imo.
Stevenwave@reddit
I'd guess they mean like the AC/Shelby Cobras, the roadsters, rather than the Stangs.

Regardless, this Jag probably hauls ass.

RIP E-Type

Like buying a vintage Rolex and replacing the movement from a modern Casio. Doable? yes. Idiotic? absolutely.
mini4x@reddit
Ruined...my only hope is its not a real one.
Bogartsboss@reddit
Well it isn't any more.
MosaicSHIPA@reddit
Turbo lag as big as the hood
JK07@reddit
Turbo doesn't look too big for the size of that engine, doubt there's much lag
Spez_Spaz@reddit
Anyone else worried that the air intake is directly behind the wheel? I’m imagining brake dust clogging that thing up real quick
AllynG@reddit
What’s that you say? A reliable Jaguar? Cannot possib…… oh my! A Shaguar!!!!
trashking11@reddit
Definitely a turbo, not a supercharger, but thanks for sharing, that’s a sick ass build. I love this type of unusual engine swap
Schnac@reddit
Turbo’s not super.
Now THAT is an abomination. A glorious abomination, but a perversion of reason nonetheless

Thanks I wasn’t sure
woolybuggered@reddit
Ya you dont need a blanket for a centrifugal superchargher.
ruhscon@reddit (OP)
I wasn’t sure it was I quick picture I stopped by a car show before work
mannys2k@reddit
That's definitely a turbo. Any more pics? That is badass.
ruhscon@reddit (OP)
Sorry no more pics but the thing was wild
IS-2-OP@reddit
Interesting build lol.
jokerzwild00@reddit
Holy shit I've that's a wild ride right there. I hope it's got some awesome brakes lol.

That Jag has a headcount…because it clearly is a killer.
