This article is just reinforcing my view that there's definitely conspiracies going on with the disaster response in the Southeast. People have already documented that FEMA is refusing to allow anyone to bring in food, materials, supplies because there are contractors who are paid to provide such things, and any other contributions reduce the profits of a few select contractors.

America also has a history of exploiting natural disasters, such as after the 2005 Hurricane Katrina disaster in New Orleans, in order to push out undesireables, such as black people in New Orleans, and put up new construction and bring in more desirable, wealthier white people, and charge the federal government to build it.

This is called "disaster capitalism". There's evidence of this as a strategy by large American corporations, to exploit natural disasters as an opportunity to build a region more favorable to the right wing. Look it up.

Another part of America's history in this regard is notoriously known as "The Reconstruction Period" after the American Civil War. It's widely acknowledged that opportunists completely exploited the rebuilding of the American South in that period.

It's totally reasonable to suspect shady things like this are happening with large-scale disasters in America.

When I see that they have to invoke Alex Jones, and then somehow pretend that fake news is something new in America, without mentioning the actual history of people being exploited by large, established corporations in the wake of natural disasters, I know that this media piece is just the vary fake news it's claiming to be opposed to.

Now for some examples from this article:

FTA:

Even in a decade marred by online grifters, shameless politicians, and an alternative right-wing-media complex pushing anti-science fringe theories, the events of the past few weeks stand out for their depravity and nihilism.

No mention of Russiagate, which turned out to be a massive disinformation campaign by the most powerful people in America, mostly mainstream Democrats but a lot of mainstream Republicans involved as well. And it's hilarious that the Mueller Report was a dud and completely collapsed that paranoid conspiracy theory about Trump colluding with Russia.

Some of the lies and obfuscation are politically motivated, such as the claim that FEMA is offering only $750 in total to hurricane victims who have lost their home.

Trump wasn't the only one telling the public the only known assistance is $750. This is also what the Democrat media said, not mentioning anything else. Now, there was a statement on whitehouse.gov describing the aid:

FEMA assistance in Florida, North Carolina, and South Carolina may include a one-time $750 payment to help with essential items like food, water, baby formula and other emergency supplies. After registering for disaster assistance, individuals may also qualify to receive disaster-related financial assistance to repair storm-related damage to homes and replace personal property, as well as assistance to find a temporary place to stay.

So, from the official White House statement, only a $750 one-time payment describes exactly what people will receive. The "financial assisstance" isn't really assured, and it doesn't say how much or the nature of it. Is it a loan? When does it come in? Who knows? Then the other "assistance" is literally just to "find" a "place".

It's not really all that far off to assume what people will get money-wise is $750, nothing more.

Then there was another statement from the White House, which said,

In total, FEMA has shipped over 8.5 million meals, more than 7 million liters of water, 150 generators and over 220,000 tarps to aid response efforts for this historic storm.

"Has shipped" huh? How much has actually arrived to people and when? It's been shipped. Well, how many days does it take to transport it?

Now back to The Atlantic article:

The result of this fearmongering is what you might expect. Angry, embittered citizens have been harassing government officials in North Carolina, as well as FEMA employees.

Angry citizens? Why would citizens be angry if they've been given cash, food, water, and shelter already? This claim is suspect to me. I just don't believe that citizens who are being given all this free stuff from government are suddenly angry just because Alex Jones claims the government controlled the weather.

It's more likely, and more believable, that the people simply aren't being helped. That or they're seeing some other shady things going on around them.

According to an analysis by the Institute for Strategic Dialogue, an extremism-research group, “Falsehoods around hurricane response have spawned credible threats and incitement to violence directed at the federal government,” including “calls to send militias to face down FEMA.” The study also found that 30 percent of the X posts analyzed by ISD “contained overt antisemitic hate, including abuse directed at public officials such as the Mayor of Asheville, North Carolina; the FEMA Director of Public Affairs; and the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security.” The posts received a collective 17.1 million views as of October 7.

Interesting that the people are attacking the very organization that's providing them money, food, water, shelter, and financial assistance. Again, I flat-out don't believe this claim that while people are being given all the help they need, they're lashing out at their helpers. It sounds much more like people are angry at an inadequate response by government officials that led to harms being done to the people unnecessarily.

FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell said that the volume of misinformation could hamper relief efforts. “If it creates so much fear that my staff doesn’t want to go out in the field, then we’re not going to be in a position where we can help people,” she said in a news conference on Tuesday.

Really? The people who lost homes are refusing money, meals, shelter, and assistance? This is too absurd to be believed.

And in that blog post, the fire chief claims:

An exhausted Bradley Boone, the assistant Fire Chief at Pensacola, took to Facebook on Saturday. As his community was recovering from Hurricane Helene he asked viewers for help. Not with aid or supplies. They had plenty of that for now. But to dispel the rumors that were making it harder for him to do his job. These rumors include that 150 people were missing, that the community was overrun with violence, that there were not sufficient food and water, that roads which were in reality in need of repair were being shut to limit the flow of help, and that FEMA was unwelcome. He said he had spent a large chunk of his day talking to citizens face-to-face to dispel the rumors.

How is people complaining about lack of food and water making it harder for him to do his job? Get it to the people who need it, and ask the people who needs it. I don't see what the problem is there.

If people are missing, ask who and where and say you're on it, but that it's difficult to know who's where. Everyone is capable of understanding that.

A road that's been shut down, I can definitely see the people being suspect about that, especially if they're locals and they know the roads and are comfortable travelling it. And also note that in Lehina, Hawaii not all that long ago the police shut down the road into the burnt town and didn't let residents go back to their own homes to put out fires or get whatever things of theirs remained. Of course real estate capitalists want property to burn so they can get the land for cheap and rebuild on it with federal funds and sell it for enormous profits. So a road closing, yeah unless it's very obvious, the people have a right to be suspicious. But then I have to wonder, isn't there another way in? And if so, where are the helicopters? Oh yeah, Elon Musk helped promote the guy who was banned from flying his helicopter in to help.

Yup, definitely suspicious at that point.

Now the "FEMA was unwelcome" part. Again, why would people reject $750 cash plus food and everything else? I do think it's possible people are insulted by that paltry help after losing $200,000+ in assets. But if they're hungry and lost everything, I do think they'd still take it.

Something is definitely off here, but it isn't from Alex Jones saying government controls the weather, and any "journalist" who tries to claim this is discredited and suspect. Most likely, people are being exploited somehow and the mainstream media isn't admitting it. This has happened many times in America's history, and after Katrina in 2005, the term "disaster capitalism" started to be used to describe the predatory capitalists who salivate over natural diasters as opportunities to milk government funds, but need regions to be destroyed to make the most profits and do the most gerrymandering with the population.
