Do you like when cars show what trim the car is?

What is your opinion on this? Do you enjoy when a car physically states what trim level it is on the outside next to the model name? Or do you prefer to just have the model name?
Example: the Camry has the trim level on the rear, like Camry XSE.
Secksualinnuendo@reddit
Year and trim is much appreciated.
razeus@reddit
You know what I love about my Lexus GX 460?
It just says Lexus GX 460.
Doesn't say V8, 4x4, Premium, Premium Plus, Premium Plus Sport.
Nothing. Just the most minimalist SUV on the road.
rudbri93@reddit
Yea i like badging, gimme the trim level and a little engine size badge on the front fender.
Doip@reddit
God, I love the little engine badge when it’s the one you shouldn’t be happy with. Yes little 08 charger, good for you with the 3.5, at least you don’t have the 2.7
NuklearFerret@reddit
NGL, I wish Camaros had V6 badges. Almost impossible to tell the difference from the i4. Side note, I feel like the V6 is more fun than the SS. It feels more nimble.
aaayyyuuussshhh@reddit
Camaro 6.2l 10 speed driver here. I agree V6 1LE is the best version of the 6th gen Camaro out there. Only got the V8 because it was cheaper to lease. Imma get a V6 1LE in the future. They sound like a damn F1 car. Best sounding stock N/A V6 ever produced IMO.
TP_Crisis_2020@reddit
Is it a 10 speed, or a 6 speed?
bestselfnice@reddit
Clown take
hundredjono@reddit
Hey pal, you just blow in from Stupid Town?
aaayyyuuussshhh@reddit
Lmao nah I've driven all 4 engines. The V6 fits the alpha platform perfectly. I'm not complaining about a V8 but like the V6 screams and it's has a good combination of speed, efficiency, fun, and price. The 6th gen Camaro is a pure sports car. Nothing about the way it drives says it's a muscle or pony car
hundredjono@reddit
The V6 Camaro is great and if it was any other manufacturer that had that platform/engine combo, this sub would not stop drooling over it.
aaayyyuuussshhh@reddit
Literally. But also part of the issue is the Camaro name. Maybe if they used another model name Chevy could have pulled it off. But yeah alpha platform GM cars are probably the best drivers cars I've driven for under 100K

don't forget that it's a "high output" 3.5L

FrankReynoldsCPA@reddit
When I bought my F-150 I was also looking at GM trucks and my GOD was that a nightmare trying to figure out which ones had the 6.2 vs the 5.3. There was no badging(prior to the current gen) that indicated which engine it had and the listings on Cargurus often just said V8.
Even looking at the pics of the engine bay was useless. Fuck you GM. Imagine how bad it's going to be shopping for used Colorados and Canyons now that they all have the same 2.7 engine but with 3 different engine tune options. Good luck getting THAT information out of the dealer who won't know either.
geoben@reddit
On top of trim level I also want to see the word TURBO written somewhere if there is one, preferably painted huge or embossed on some trim but a badge is fine. If there's any question of whether the car is fuel injected, it also should be indicated on a badge. Bonus for spelling it out, double bonus if it's spelled in the language of the manufacturer like iniezione. Lastly, slap some stuff in places other than just the rear of the car and front grille. Little fender emblems and scripts are too uncommon.
acideater@reddit
Put turbo somewhere as well. I don't care if the turbo is tiny and for eco purposes.

I love it, absolutely love it, when the car physically states it's trim level. It gives me so much enjoyment. I usually call my wife over when I see it. "Look honey! The trim level is right here on the car, right next to the model name! I'm so fucking happy right now." So much pleasure. So much enjoyment.

DudeWhereIsMyDuduk@reddit
We eat at Olive Garden. I use my Platinum Hilton Amex (tm). I am fulfilled.

The waiter asks if the Camry XSE is ours. We say no in disappointment. The waiter says she was going to get the manager to comp the meal for all the enjoyment we brought to the other patrons.
sundark94@reddit
Then I point out to the waiter that we drove the Honda Accord Sport-L Hybrid in Crystal White Pearl, which was parked just next to the Camry XSE. He hurled abuses at us and ejected us from the premises. We will stick to Red Lobster for our next anniversary pre-coital meal.

I want trim badging so I can figure out what the fuck people are actually selling when they post their ads with two sentence descriptions that leave out everything about what it is.
Spicywolff@reddit
If the badges are subtle and noting special trims I like them. Like AMG does a good job with cool badges that aren’t plastered everywhere. Or how 911 will have turbo S or GT4.
On base cars like a mirage or such I don’t see much of the point.
newtonreddits@reddit
I don't even care much about AMG badges anymore because it's spammed on every MB nowadays.
But what I adore is the fenders on my car say V8 Kompressor. It's just so cool to me
s1ravarice@reddit
Or V8 Bi-Turbo
Spicywolff@reddit
Factory badges aren’t too bad. On line there is AMG left rear and c63S right rear. Then V8 Biturbo on the fenders. Which I love too. The a single tiny little AMG on the blades in the grill.
No, the young dude that get these cars will pass with the car with AMG and it’s so tacky
phxbimmer@reddit
I like the way BMW used to do it, where the badge was (generally) referring to the displacement, like 525i, 530i, 540i all corresponding to a 2.5L engine, 3.0L engine, 4.0L engine. No other badging needed. No extraneous ///M badging on anything that wasn't a bona-fide M car.
FrankReynoldsCPA@reddit
There's a 330i always parked near my office where the guy added an M badge in front of the 330i trunk emblem to mimic the M340i.
Also had a vanity plate LMAO.
AFB27@reddit
I was dropping my car off at the detailer one day and some woman pulls up in a C 300 coupe that had an AMG badge WITH a personalized "C 300 AMG" license plate. Think the also had some AMG mats as well lol.

Yeah BMW has really been disrespecting the M badge lately.
phxbimmer@reddit

inquisitiveimpulses@reddit
Fun fact Honda enthusiasts called Acura Integras "delivery boxes" because they they came over from Japan with the engines that they wanted to put in Hondas.
Honda Integras were stolen, usually the GSR because it had the vector head and higher redline, so to help improve insurance rates, Honda quit badging the GSRs as such in hopes they wouldn't be stolen but since the LS were still badged LS abd had the mashie wheels, and the GSR was the unadorned trunk lid and GSR blades for wheels, you always knew which one had which engine.

I'd hardly consider a Camry TRD a flex. It's nothing more than a suspension/appearance package. When Toyota designed it, they completely forgot to add a limited slip differential and gave it the same crappy transmission software as the regular Camry.

It's definitely something, but I'll take my N any day over that.

Hard disagree. I personally enjoy when the owner of the late 2000s BMW 328i in front of me with aftermarket exhaust lets me know it’s really an M3.

Check out " From A to B. Tales of modern motoring" documentary on YouTube.
It is about how much of a status symbol the model designation is to the traveling salesman cadre.
I'm still unsure if it is a documentary or a mockumentory.
Jaydenpk@reddit
I think it's important. Unless you wanna check for trim specific things it's a quick way to determine what the car has. Tho some cars don't have it and I'm fine with it. For example my BRZ. There is a premium and limited trim option. With the limited being the one with more features. The limited trim gives you bigger rims, better tires, heated seats, lane assist, moving headlights, and alcentera in certain places. These are pretty easy to spot and I don't think they require more logos. Now the BRZ ts just came out not too long ago and it's supposed to be the highest trim you can get for these cars. All the stuff the limited has plus bigger brakes and a few more things. Now that's deserving of the trim logo. Especially because it's a limited production model. Ford also did this with their mustangs.
So for some cars yes just to make it easy to identify. Some cars no unless it's a special edition.
Up_Vootinator@reddit
I'm usually all for it if it's done neatly cuz i saw a corolla which had:
a toyota badge above the left tail light.
a corolla altis badge above the left tail light, where the word altis is visibly bigger than corolla.
a grande badge below the left tail light, that was cursive
and a 1.8 along with an X logo that was in a completely different art style than the rest of the badges.
At first, I was even convinced that it was a mad owner who just put random badges on it but oh no, it comes like that from the company. Looked super tasteless.

First rule when getting a car: remove all the badges you couldn’t have removed when ordering the car.
bandley3@reddit
People see my car and may notice that I don’t have the spoilers and skirts and bigger wheels and tires and just think I’m cheap. What they don’t realize is that there are two kinds of people that buy the base model: the ones that just want an affordable vehicle and those that want the better performing one, the approximately 5% of owners that chose the manual transmission, only available on the base trim level. I can easily add the other crap from the more luxurious models if I so chose, but the owners of the top trim can’t easily add the slick six-speed. I’m happy because I saved 20% off of MSRP, don’t have annoying things like leather and a sunroof, get the more comfortable and cheaper tires, don’t have the silly body cladding that can come off or hide rust. I wish I had the factory trip computer and Bluetooth but those aren’t worth giving up my lovely MT.

On average cars it's kind of pointless in my opinion. Most people don't care or notice the differences but with something like a BMW M yeah I think a badge is cool on the back.

Yeah, for certain cars. If it’s a golf GTI or R, that matters. If it’s a Tiguan R, that’s still an impressive car, but I don’t care as much. Same with the RS badge. If it’s a Focus RS, that’s cool but if it’s a blazer or equinox RS, that’s still cool, but I don’t really care that much.
jtl94@reddit
I drive a Ford Focus ST and I need people to know I don’t just drive a boring regular Ford Focus. I drive a cool one.

testthrowawayzz@reddit
Yes. How else will others know that I bought the top trim? (Half sarcastic, half serious)
n00bmax@reddit
Yes because I buy top trims, kidding you better make it out from appearance if you are a nerd. My ultimate package BMW X3 M40i doesn’t state it anywhere and you won’t know it unless you notice the wheels which can also be had base trim. Same with dad’s Kia Seltos top trim, the lights, red line on sides & turbo badge tell it but not the label. In India too many people buy base modes and up modify them to top trims for half the cost. Yes they will have less airbags, smaller screen but the exterior will be decked out.
dinkygoat@reddit
Genuinely don't give a shit. If the performance variants (M, AMG, GR, etc) wanna use a badge or some other visual identifier, that's cool I guess. But to your average Toyota Corolla enthusiast, don't care about the LE vs SE vs XLE -- once we get to the XSE though!

I tend towards less badging. I took the 'Giulia' off my trunk, got tired of people trying to pronounce it. QVs didn't have any additional rear badging.

mandatoryclutchpedal@reddit
I have zero problems with the trim emblems. I don't like the look of debadged cars at all. Reminds of cars that have been in accidents and the owners were to paranoid to go through insurance and "had a buddy" fix it.
Seeking-Direction@reddit
Same here. I don’t like it when cars look like a prop from a Geico commercial.
DeTomato_@reddit
Yeah, I like badges that show trim level, engine capacity, and configuration. I particularly love old cars’ badging that highlights the car’s “cutting-edge” features, such as carbureted, automatic, 5 speed, etc.
The only exception is BMW’s M Sport trim. I hate how BMW put M badges on these non-M BMWs, they make the cars look trashy.
Bluecolt@reddit
In the early 90s GM put "EFI" badges on trucks to show it had electronic fuel ignition. Seems mundane now, but at the time it must have seemed cool and modern.
PriorityBright1825@reddit
There’s a guy at work with an X5 with the non-TU N63. He has like 7 autozone “twin turbo V8” badges throughout the car. It kills me every single day. Arguably the worst TTV8 in modern times.
cubs223425@reddit
It usually depends on the car and trim.
It's usually helpful, but a lot of cars have too many trims or not enough difference in a trim to matter. I like when, say, a Charger/Challenger has the trim badge because it can mean a lot for things like the powertrain. I don't care when it's just to tell me about an appearance package, but I'd rather it be there than not.
oryx-adept-@reddit
As someone who works on cars doing ppf I do appreciate it
potatoboy247@reddit
I like when they forgo the model badging to only put the trim. (i.e. Golf R)
epsiblivion@reddit
golfs are like civics in that respect. they list them as separate models since they differ so much in power. but yes they're "trims" in some regard.
FrankReynoldsCPA@reddit
One thing that's annoying is some automakers use badging where the typeface is hard to read because of how it catches the sun's reflection. Lexus and BMW both stick out to me here. It can be annoying to make out what model they are from the badge and I have 20/20 vision.
tetsmon@reddit
It's like a real-life easter egg. every time I see a Toyota Matrix, I look to see if it has the "XRS" since that has the 8K+ redline 2ZZ motor.
time_to_reset@reddit
I like how the Germans/Swiss/Austrians do it. Debadge all of it.
whtciv2k@reddit
I always thought badging was kind of stupid. I debadge all of my cars. Not the emblems but just the dumb trim badges.
watchmedrown34@reddit
Same. I know what I have, I don't need it to be reminded every time I look at my car lol. It looks so much cleaner without them
sk0rpeo@reddit
This is why I debadge my cars.
jerkyquirky@reddit
I wouldn't say I "like" it, but every little differentiator between cars helps when you have a basic car.
RoddToddTonyTodd@reddit
Always, it’s the best thing. It makes me want to go back to the times of job role based company cars.
RedCrabb@reddit
I think “(Porsche model here) S” badges look great
Occhrome@reddit
I like back when the trim was gold.
MysticMarbles@reddit
I debagde all of my vehicles, save for the manufacturer badge (if it's part of the body lines, which they usually are)
Fuck_spez_the_cuck@reddit
Honestly, I prefer it on the inside more than the outside. When it's stitched into the headrest, or a little plaque on the trim of the gear shift.
xtraburnacct@reddit
If it's a really special trim that had effort put into it (Raptor, Shelby, AMG, M, TRD PRO, etc....) sure.
If it's some silly appearance package, or just a normal trim (limited/sport) no.
ethicalsolipsist@reddit
I think the gender, age, race, profession and political affiliation of the driver should be shown on the car so I can more easily build my stereotypes
Kadehead@reddit
I took all badges off of my vehicle.
rks1743@reddit
People don't even need to see the badges on my car. I get my early-bird / senior discount at Cracker Barrel just by showing up in a burgundy Caddy.
DaNinjaYaHoeCryBout@reddit
Show it. That’s point of me getting it.
kylesisles1@reddit
When the dealer said that the car won't have a badge that reads Alfa Romeo Giulia Veloce Ti Sport Q4 on it, I got right back in my R32 Nissan Skyline GTS-T Type M and drove off. It's trim on nada baby and we're all outta nada.
POSVETT@reddit
I remove emblems instead. My '11 370Z/Fairlady Z has a rear bumper cover that no longer has the Nissan logo and other emblems. Only the Nissan logo upfront remains.
utvols22champs@reddit
Always de-badge. I’m not advertising for free.
woobiewarrior69@reddit
I remove all the emblems off my vehicles shortly after I buy them anyway so I'd prefer they leave them off. I hate trying to wax around them and I think they usually fuck up the body lines on a vehicle.
Mustang1718@reddit
I work on the cars for all family members. The family members never know what trim levels they have. The badges on the back save me time in looking up what I need to when I order parts.
The_SkiBum_Veteran@reddit
I like shaved cars, let me be completely focused on the body lines. I don’t even want the manufacturer logo.
Sea_Perspective6891@reddit
I love seeing Type R on some Hondas. Most unusual I think I saw was Type R on an Odyssey. At first I thought it was out there by the owner as a good but turns out there is a Type R Odyssey but it's only sold in Japan & Canada.
BrodyFox@reddit
yes but only when the trim is spmething above standard, take M badges for BMW or SI badges for Hondas. And ONLY if the trim is a performance upgrade, if its just cosmetic changes you dont get a badge.
m0dern_baseBall@reddit
328is with m badges fuming rn
dreamingtree1855@reddit
I do miss when “M” was the top dog performance trim of the model, now they add M to middle tier trims it’s stupid. They even used to use “s” to designate the sporty, non-M cars, like the 335is. The non-M car m badged models are just cash grabs at this point.
csimonson@reddit
Yes.
I also like it when cars even have the model name on them. Went to a car show yesterday with a bunch of Ferraris and none had any model name badges.
That's the area I spent the least time in because I honestly didn't give a shit at that point.
MMXApps@reddit
I like it if the differences between the trims are performance related. If its a minor cosmetic difference or a difference in amenities, it seems pointless.
tharussianphil@reddit
If it's a super long name then no. Some cars feel like their trim level is 6 names long
AmNoSuperSand52@reddit
Mostly for the purpose of making it clearer for people to know what they’re buying (new of course, since somebody could swap a badge)
And then also when the badge means something, like GT on a Mustang, any of the Dodge Hellcat logos, GTI/R on a Golf, TRD for Toyota, etc
dreamingtree1855@reddit
I absolutely love it. My Honda is an “elite” and I love flexing on the other parents at the daycare drop off. Moms absolutely snap their necks and dads stare with slack jaws every time they notice that I’m not just driving a Honda… I’m driving something “elite”. Could’ve gone Mercedes or even Bentley, but that badge letting ‘em know it’s an “elite” pretty much speaks for itself.
KenJyi30@reddit
Not my thing, i debadged my M3. I figure there’s so much fake M badges everywhere it’s lost it’s meaning. Only people in the know will notice the authentic exhaust and rear fenders; anyone who assume it’s another fake don’t matter anyway.
kilertree@reddit
Yes because It's hard to tell if a Camaro has a V8 or not.
Hog_Knock_Life@reddit
It’s only useful at autozone or oreillys where they need the whole powertrain info just to locate a replacement taillight lens.
b00st3d@reddit

I love showing everyone I got the sensible car instead of wasting 20k for basically the same car. Take that Denali owners!
EL_Chapo_Cuzzin@reddit
Mazda3 "AWD" hatch.. YES! Remind other Mazda fwd owners I won't be stuck in the snow. Turbo badge, makes me feel like I should trade it in for a turbo or hide. It's all status. Personally, I want to de-badge everything.
old_skool_luvr@reddit
LMAO! I think i just realized i'm in a different generation.
OP posts a Camry as their example....meanwhile i'm thinking back to the LeSabre i had, that had a small "CUSTOM" badge below the LeSabre script. 😂
NetworkStatic@reddit
I usually debadge my own cars just to get less writing in general on it, and don't care what other cars have or don't have.
samniking@reddit
My favorite part about Raptors is they’re going to fucking let you know they’re a Raptor with those graphics lol
StainedGlass8@reddit
Removed the 323ci badging from my e46, I like the plain look but would say otherwise if it was a m3 😅
AdvantagePast2484@reddit
There's very few trims where people actually know what it means like Mustang 'GT' is pretty obvious.
The Nissan palladium mountain goat edition? Not so much. This makes all lesser known vehicles seem like the trims are just weird monikers, especially after how BMW butchered the M series badging and the like...
PurpleSausage77@reddit
GM has some odd stuff. The RS badge they throw around on all their Chevs for example which is just an appearance package I think?
The trim levels on the Cadillac ATS are so generic “performance, luxury, premium” rather not have the car saying any of those. From what I’ve seen all of them come with Brembo brakes from the factory. Trunk lid shows ATS”4” so instead of having an AWD badge they just added the 4 in, which I like. Then on the right they put a “3.6” badge. Most they sold were 2.0T. The 3.6 was the more expensive/hard to get engine option but the 2.0T badge looks cooler. So I don’t pay much mind to it other than I love the 3.6 V6 ones so I’m always checking them for 3.6 badges and ignoring all the 2.0T’s.
Then you get the true performance variants. Civic Si, ATS-V. The ones that really get me going, you know when you see it, real deal.
DustyBusterson@reddit
Yes, never understood why someone would want to debadge their car, it also hurts the value.
Quaiche@reddit
How is that hurting the value ? ...
HedonisticFrog@reddit
People sometimes leave the badges off after body work and paint because it's difficult to line it up properly without the factory templates.
whiteghetto@reddit
I'm a debadger, I just like the cleaner look better. People knowing the trim or model of my vehicle isn't important to me.
CaliDude75@reddit
I prefer sleepers. 😎
DudeWhereIsMyDuduk@reddit
No, if anything I'm thinking about removing the Rubicon labels from the next Jeep.
Santa_Hates_You@reddit
One of the things I love about my S4 is there are barely any badges on the body of the car. I have an S4 badge in back along with the Audi rings, a small S4 badge on the grill and nothing more. Not even quattro badges.
ashibah83@reddit
When I worked as a mechanic. Yes, I fucking loved it. Made things easier when ordering parts or writing service requests/looking up FSM info.
As an owner, not so much but that's really because it goes against the aesthetic I prefer.
Trail-Hound@reddit
Depends. If said badging is its own symbol like the hellcat badge on mopars or the 4-leaf clover on Alfas I’m all about it. If the trim level is just more alphanumeric soup I’m less keen on it, unless the numerals directly correlate to engine size. I was stuck behind a pretty new Silverado yesterday, and it had CUSTOM in shiny chrome letters stuck on the tailgate. All I could think when I saw that was I doubt that.
tronaldrumptochina@reddit
TREMOR
Actraiser87@reddit
Yes. How else will people know you have the top trim? We have to flex to strangers of course.
twosnailsnocats@reddit
I don't care either way. What I think is funny is when people other badges on, whether that is "up-badging" or something completely wrong like a Mustang GT-R. Sometimes even deleting the badge looks weird if there is just a lot of empty space.
Spidey6917@reddit
Idc either way but I loathe when they put useless badging on a car, like VW does a lot. Idk how many owners I’ve heard that think they have a “Jetta TSI” TSI is just then engine and there’s multiple models that have the same one so that badge means nothing other than to tell you it’s a gasoline vehicle
MassLuca007@reddit
On my Celica, yes because the GTS and TRD represent the engine and body style of my car... But on the GR'rolla it doesn't really matter to me other than the GR badge. If it said Core or Base on it id probably take those off immediately lol. Even if I had a premium, I still take that off.
red_fuel@reddit
If it's something worth mentioning if it's a nice trim yes. But I like debadged cars with only the manufacturer emblem more. Not everyone does that and it gives it a cleaner look.
datbino@reddit
Lol- I hate it.
Besides the extra trim pieces on platinum steel body super duties
jtbis@reddit
It’s another trick to get people to buy a higher trim level. Toyota is the worst, they put “SR5” badges all over their trucks so everyone knows you have the base model.
Shrikecorp@reddit
Mine doesn't have a model badge, much less trim. Sometimes people ask.
