Hi! i’m moving to Dallas soon, not sure about the locations yet but do you guys have any neighborhood/public spaces with free community activities? And how is the public transportation system in Dallas? (for context I live in LA right now and mainly use buses to move about and my neighborhood got free yoga in the park) Thanks!

Public transit in Dallas is viable if you live somewhere well connected, like downtown or right by a rail station. Having a bike or scooter really helps connect the last mile.
If you don’t live near it, it’s harder, but there’s nothing wrong with the hybrid approach of driving to a park and ride.
Dallas ranks highest for traffic injuries and fatalities of any major city in America, so the more miles of your transportation you can do outside of a car, the better.

I am so relieved that you were the first one to tackle the public transit question!! So tired of seeing people say "there's none", "it's no good", etc. It's not world class, but it's good and getting better...largely thanks to people like you!

Thanks! I try. I created this account specifically because I wanted to counter that narrative, correct misinformation, and advocate for DART. We have a lot of room for improvement, but the existing system is so underutilized!

oh ok i usually just bus + walk. are the neighborhood walkable? ive been reading this a lot too lately and just started learning to drive so supposedly my first time driving would be in dallas 🥲

Some of them are!
Lower Greenville, Bishop Arts, Downtown, parts of Oak Lawn, and Uptown are fairly walkable, and particularly Lower Greenville, Downtown, and Bishop Arts have good transit connectivity.
Another pro move is just to live further out along a light rail line but near a grocery store and bike there. Mockingbird Station and Walnut Hill Station in particular facilitate this arrangement pretty well.
