Remember folks. They get a tax break for saying they are actively hiring. It doesn't mean they have to hire people. This is exactly what they are doing. They know nobody will apply.
Good night Matilda, what is that dogshit pay? I get more than that as a first-year and fewer miles per week than that requirement, unless I ask for more miles.
I failed a pre employment drug test a while back and I would've taken this if i hadn't found something else. There's people out there that one mistake and finding a job feels hopeless and rents still due on the first heh.
I paid $60 and got tested at a lab that had the same cutoff as dot. I know it's to late for you but for other people reading this don't take the chance . Pay a lab to test your shit before pre-employment
This was before I had my CDL . What I did was legal where I was at. I decided I wanted my CDL so I waited until it was out of my system and tested myself to make sure it was out of my system.
You were probably either a heavy user or, no offense, have more fat on your body. Its stored in fat so people with more fat... it takes longer for it to to away.
Just an FYI to anyone looking at becoming a trucker. Research and take at home or send away lab tests BEFORE testing to get into trucking.
Hell no..I'm in kind of a bad place in trucking right now. To the point I'm probably going to take a bottom feeder job just to pay the bills till I get the certifications in to join the maritime industry and I wouldn't even consider taking that job.
That's "no one else will hire me, and I need a job and don't care how much it pays" desperation pay. Which are usually the kind of people you definitely don't want running hazmat.
I'm not proud of it but I'm in that boat because of a ticket 2.5 years ago. I'm gonna take a job just to keep bills paid but even I wouldn't sink that low.
Then there's the weekly miles. So they wanna run a driver 3100 miles a week and not pay them? That's insane. Todd either doesn't know trucking at all or he's a really shady s.o.b.
So apparently wages went down between 2001 and 2008. Dang. I’m old and can’t remember exactly but I think I started at like around 31 CPM back then (maybe 32). I got extra for extra stops, etc. Did that for 3 years then I worked for a guy for $200/day flat rate for another 3 years Monday-Friday. So you guys were making more and the dollar was worth more back then too.
Yes, I was with him for 12 years, and he paid me well no matter what I pulled. I stayed with him until 2005 when he retired. He was great to drive for.
Kiss my ass for 30 cents a mile. .30x3200 is 960 a week. Imagine grinding your 70 out just to get 600 bucks after taxes. I’d go back to factory work before that shit
I'm currently working on getting my CDL and my dad swears I absolutely have to do OTR. I told him that's really not the case anymore and I see so many OTR jobs that are paying ridiculously low.
Making 6 figures, home every day, never done (and never will do) OTR. Look for local grocery chains or whatnot, they usually want some experience, but will let you yard jockey to gain it oftentimes
Yeah I'm not really planning on doing it long term. Don't get me wrong, it's neat to drive one and it's a good skill to be able to safely operate such a large vehicle, but I'm also interested in medicine or nursing in the future so the plan is really to save up a bunch of money and go to college for whatever else I'm interested in.
Yeah $945 for over 3000 miles a week doing hazmat. That’s a big fat fucking nope. The fact that companies think that wages like this are acceptable is a slap in the face.
30cpm for haz-mat, no real schedule, and 3k miles a week.
You're expected to run likely 70 hours a week for maybe $1k a week.
I make more working 40 hours a week out of a janky outfit in the outskirts of a small city mostly hauling paper. This employer is legitimately delusional.
I see these all the time in my area, and I apply to every single one. I want to look these people in the face, and see if I can figure out which screw came loose. Ill waste their time if I have some to spare. I will pretend like I am showing up to work tomorrow, and then call in with a flat tire. Apologize, and keep it as good as possible. Then call in with an stye. Yeah, bitch, I got a stye. I can't drive.
Maybe if someone had 2 DUIs and a bunch of points and felonies. No "respectable" driver would take this. Haha. I'd hold out for something better even if I just got a CDL and was green as could be. That's crazy. We start newbies that can barely shift gears out at $0.59
Hi Tucker, I'm Todd. Hi Todd, I'm Tucker. Fuck Tucker, Tucker sucks. And fuck Tucker's friend, Kyle. that's another soft name for a boy, Kyle. Soft names make soft people. I'll bet you anything that ten times out of ten, Nicky, Vinnie, and Tony would beat the shit out of Todd, Kyle, and Tucker.
People post ads like these to fish what kind of idiot will actually take it. They'll repost the same ad a month later with a slightly higher pay and keep doing it until someone applies.
