Fox Car Rental @ PHX?

I’m trying to rent a car from PHX to head towards LAS for a week. Fox Rental Car has the cheapest prices by $400+ even with one of their insurance options chosen. Is it worth using them? I’ve read mixed opinions.
I also tried searching rental car companies around the airport/area and Fox attached to the airport is still the cheapest…..

I have rented from Fox and Payless at LAX. Never a problem. I can’t say the same about Hertz, Avis or Budget, all of whom tried to rip me off by trying to include prepaid gas or Insurance after I had declined it, or falsely claiming I hadn’t returned the car with a full tank.

Did you just use your own insurance or did you spent one of fox’s insurance options? We saw a few listed on their site and weren’t sure which of them would be best to go along with our own insurance.

I did use my own insurance. Check with your credit card company and your auto insurance policy to determine the coverage they offer on rental cars. I’ve had two damage claims on rentals cars and each time either my insurance or the credit card insurance covered the entire cost.

Thanks! I checked with my credit card and this is a benefit I’m eligible for, gonna look into my auto insurance as well to be safe. Thanks again for all the info!

I have no doubt that Fox Car Rental is the cheapest up front, but they probably try to add a lot of extra fees and charges that aren't included in their abnormally low quote. To be fair, I have never used Fox and never would unless I have no other choice. They have a poor reputation from years of reports of long lines, poor customer service, extra and/or hidden charges, and poorly maintained vehicles.
All car rental companies seem to suffer from these issues, but Fox seems to have more negative reports than most. If you do rent from Fox, I would be very interested to hear about your experience, especially how much you were initially quoted and how much you ended up paying.

For what it's worth, I rented from Fox last year just to try it out. I didn't pay any more than what I was quoted.
Upsides: it was cheap & I had no issues
Downsides: the car had a check engine light & I'm not super confident that they would have provided roadside assistance if needed
Overall I'm happy I tried it, but I'm going back to Enterprise lol

Did you / were you required to purchase any of their insurance? They have a bunch of different insurance options listed on their site and we weren’t sure what would be the best for all encompassing.

I used the insurance included as a feature on my credit card. I did not buy insurance from them. Idk if that was smart or not.

Try looking thru Costco car rentals. I just left phoenix last week and I picked up a car from Avis. I booked it thru Costco and it was cheaper than what the Avis website was quoting. Costco bookings are also free cancellation and they add a second driver at no extra fee.

Fox car rental five years ago was a train wreck. I don’t know how they are today.

They are a legit company. They were bought out by Europcar, one of the biggest rental companies in the world, as their attempt to break into the American market by offering low prices.
Their cars might not be as new or nice as the major brands but based on your post, I assume you're ok with that
