Ryan Air Carry on Sizes

I have a carry on that was over the size limits by a couple cm so I bought a new carry on but its 2.5cm to wide. The dimensions I need for the 10kg bag are 55x40x20 but the carry on i just bought is 55x40x22.5. Should I go back and ask for a new one or do you think I'll be fine? Just a broke college student trying not to pay more.

I had a squishy bag that might have been slightly larger. The employee had a real B in her bonnet when I tried to board and yelled at me to put it in the size box. She was all set to charge me more, but my little bag dipped in and out with ease. Lol

A year or so back they told us they'd been told to have a crack down and measured everyone's bag, can't remember which airport. The other ten or so flights I've had with them the last few years they haven't checked. I always use a rucksack anyway which will squish to their dimensions.

Most importantly, don't put it in the sizer in the sight of the employees.

Is it soft sided? If so just don't fill it all the way and you can squash it into the sizer if asked. If it's hard sided it could be a problem, some staff are beyond pedantic

Most of the time, you will be fine...as long as your bag doesn't look much bigger than the limit, they will just let you pass.
Sometimes they will decide to measure bags though.Depends on the airport and the directives from the management at that time.
When they DO measure, you have to put your bag in a measuring cage.
If it fits in there, you are good to go.If it doesn't, you will have to pay more.

2.5 is definitely fine. just keep smiling, make yourself seem relaxed and make sure not to get in line too early.
they usually just blink an eye if you say hi, smile and seem confident enough.
