WOULD NOT recommend Foureteen it’s all hype and very SUBPAR food. Just went there for my husband’s birthday. Atmosphere is nice so probably just got for drinks or something but forget about the food!

As others have said, the closest you’ll get to fine dining locally is Paris House in Woburn, or Fourteen Sky Bar in the centre. If you want actual fine dining, I’d suggest getting a fast train into London.

If you just want ‘classier than nandos’ then I’d suggest some of the nicer pubs and restaurants in the area - Ole in Wolverton for example does delicious tapas and is a small venue so feels a bit intimate. French Affaire in Stony Stratford does a wonderful afternoon tea. Sul Lago in Furzton and Nonnas in Woburn Sands are excellent italian restaurants.

I went to fourteen sky bar. It's just that the restaurant is on 14th/similar height. Yes you'll get the view and that's it. Menu isn't that interesting.

Definitely agree with this about Fourteen. I went last summer and was completely underwhelmed. I love most food and there was nothing that wowed me. Food was totally average and doesn’t justify the high price. I found the staff to be quite inattentive too, had to ask twice on more than one occasion for things. Definitely wouldn’t go back for food, maybe drinks but even that is a push.

Fourteen sky bar has a great view and good cocktails. The food is pretty meh though. On Sundays for example they only do Sunday roast - at least last time we went.

Some of the food I've had at Nonna's has been approaching Michelin standards (rabbit pie starter and wild boar ravioli, for example. If they really wanted to, they could probably get a BIb Gourmand.

French Affaire does brilliant evening food too (we're yet to sample the afternoon tea).

And another shout for Nonna's - you can't fail to have a great time there, especially if you've worked up an appetite by walking in the woods nearby. Their breakfast menu is awesome as well.

Out of all the restaurants I’ve been to across the world, Paris house is still on my top 5 list of best restaurants ever. Go for the 10(?) course tasting menu with wine pairing.

It's not Michelin but Rai in Woburn is a really good Indian resturant. I haven't been to Paris house but definitely worth a look

General good restaurants in that area are Woburn Thai, Blue Orchid Aspley Guise, nice pub Wavendon arms. Personally wouldn't recommend Nonnas its overpriced and not amazing food but maybe I've had back luck the times I've been

If you can get a reservation at Le Manior I would highly recommend 👌

Surprised at these comments. I went before it officially opened and the steak was top notch - better than anywhere else I’ve found in MK. Service was awesome too.

But that was when they opened and trying to impress so sounds like a steep drop off

we went a week or two after they opened for an early dinner, around 6pm. The restaurant was empty, except for our table of 6 and one other table. Our food (5 burgers and 1 steak) took almost an hour to arrive and all the chips were cold. The staff ignored us completely. I'd never go back. So many of these "trendy" places opening that market themselves as being upmarket dining "experiences" but they're just overpriced mediocre food. Local bloggers, like Sophie etc, rave about great experiences at these types of places and that's because they get treated completely differently to the average customer.

As others have commented already, best place to go in MK is probably La Tour but again, it's not really fine dining.

Kobe advertises as fine dining, has the ambience of fine dining restaurant and the pricing also as such. But you know what’s the dead giveaway that it is indeed not fine dining - it’s located in Xcape next to the bowling alley. Avoid it like plague.

If you want good steak, do yourself a favour and go to something like Middleton stake bar next block and have a half decent steak (while also saving some money)

I'm a bit sensitive to salt, as I rarely use it in my own cooking, but this is the only time I've ever sent food back because of it. They did eventually cook me another, which was far better. The chef came out to check I was happy, which was nice, but ruined it by saying I was lucky to have come on his night, as the other chef salt even more gif

Fine dining is thhinnon the ground in MK. Paris House is not as good as it was (at least I don’t think it is). Le Manoir isn’t a massively long drive - around an hour to Great Milton, good for lunch and dinner, and you can get a pretty good lunch at The Hand and Flowers in Marlow (again an hour and a bit).

There's not much choice sadly. Salt in Stratford upon Avon is only an hour's drive and that's very very nice. Well worth the drive in my opinion. There's also a few Michelin restaurants in Oxfordshire too although I have no experience with them.

Also I heard good things about Meli’s. It’s a Mediterranean restaurant in CMK. Upscale version of Turkish kebab and drinks restaurant. Nice vibes and good food (sky bar fourteen food is meh) but still not fine dining.

My favourite is the Woburn hotel in Woburn. Really nice food (not fine dining) and great service - totally worth the price.
