Best pillow that you can get in the UK?
Posted by ZealousidealPost7965@reddit | AskUK | View on Reddit | 98 comments
Recently tried a Morpheus Cocomat pillow at a hotel in France and had the best night sleep of my life. Turns out they aren't sold in the UK and shipping costs are £££.
Can anyone recommend a good pillow that won't give you neck pain? I'm a side sleeper and also haven't enjoyed memory foam pillows in the past.
Beneficial-Offer4584@reddit
Groove pillow if you have neck pain. Life changer for me.
Pure_Acadia_986@reddit
Hi! sorry im a year late - doing a deep dive into pillows because my neck is killing me. Is the groove too firm?
bluelightblock@reddit
Did you go for it? I've got a neck injury and tethering on simba or groove.
Beneficial-Offer4584@reddit
Subjective. Anything soft causes me issues so no not too firm in my opinion but ymmv.
ringobringoo@reddit
Are you a back and side sleeper?
ral101@reddit
I have a groove!
verykindzebra@reddit
Seconded.
EllieanoreD@reddit
When I could afford it I bought 2 John Lewis ones, this was a year ago.
https://www.johnlewis.com/john-lewis-specialist-synthetic-smart-cool-standard-pillow-medium-firm/p5136956
They suited me fine for the price. I still have them. I’m not sure they’re hotel quality but John Lewis stuff are very good!
Goofball203@reddit
Hv they gone flat?
patilpradipj@reddit
I’ve been using the Oziz Ergonomic Cervical Pillow for a while, and it’s been a game-changer. My neck feels supported all night, whether I sleep on my side or back, and I wake up without stiffness. The memory foam molds perfectly to my head and neck, and the breathable cover keeps it comfortable all night.
zirouk@reddit
Beware. I’ve noticed these pillows being recommended on old posts and getting an irregular number of upvotes, suggesting they’re manipulated advert comments.
Emendatus@reddit
Having a few neck pains I have been through a few pillows including fancy tempur ones but my favourite so far is

frogit_0@reddit
What did you choose? I need answers!
Emendatus@reddit
Don't even remember posting this! I wouldn't say it's too firm, it is fairly firm but because it's moulded it gives firm support in the right places. When on your back, it neatly holds the head and is very comfortable. When on your side, it's been amazing for me as it actually supports at the right height.
Between that and being better with neck stretches, my neck pain has significantly reduced. Actually don't remember the last time it really bothered me. I think the exercises probably are the main reason, but either way I don't plan to change anything.
ruwanthika96@reddit
I’ve been using the Oziz pillow for about a year now—super supportive for side sleepers and still holding up great. Also easy to get in the UK!
krishna2026@reddit
Using Renuj gardening gloves all winter—waterproof, insulated, excellent hose grip, warm velvet lining, durable latex‑coated palm, and still flexible and comfy after long shifts.

I have 4 of the Aeyla dual & foamo pillows and they have been a GODSEND!
serpentandivy@reddit
We swear by the Premier Inn pillows - have both the firm and soft and they are brill.
Key-Kitchen8141@reddit
My friend used to say the same so I bought some a few months back but they’re rubbish. I’ve found they’ve gone flat pretty soon after purchase and now here I am on the hunt again💩

I've been using the Oziz pillow for the past year – it's great for side sleepers and available in the UK!
MintyVapes@reddit
Look up "Sleepline reviews" on Google.
They actually test out the different brands and say good and bad things about each.
CartographerWhich743@reddit
Look up Mitre Linen online. Lots of the high end hotels use them for their pillows. Great prices too.
ZealousidealPost7965@reddit (OP)
Thanks for this! Just went ahead and bought a mix of duck feather and down pillows from here after reviews were so good.
lukeymc_g@reddit
How have they been up until this point? Any problems?
AtillaThePundit@reddit
Modern pillow tech is shite . Feather pillows FTW! Get different levels of stuffing and a mix of feather and down and you can’t go wrong . I have slumberdown , slumber land, silent night some other type , bought some for my mum and fixed her chronic neck pain , got them for the kids and they sleep longer . Can’t beat them.
lukeymc_g@reddit
Sorry can you link to one in particular you would recommend? I'd be very grateful as I'm struggling a lot to find a comfortable pillow for side sleeping. The last pillows I bought on the pillow train were these: https://dusk.com/products/pair-of-feels-like-down-pillows?variant=44625625776425 - seems like they are made from microfibre and not feathers like you suggested. They have been some of the better pillows I've bought however recently they have been committing the well known pillow sin of going flat!
VadimH@reddit
cries in allergic
Klutzy-Captain9013@reddit
For those who are allergic, silk filled pillows are like feather ones, I love mine! Got it from Jasmine Silk, along with duvets.
AtillaThePundit@reddit
BALLER! Silk filled pillows 😂 I have silk pyjamas but silk pillows are a new one to me
Klutzy-Captain9013@reddit
It sounds like the most decadent thing ever too! They are absolutely amazing. The duvets are so lightweight but warm and breathable.
AtillaThePundit@reddit
I’m allergic to everything but the pillows are hypoallergenic , so is my dog 😂
VadimH@reddit
Tbf, you must have a mild allergy to dogs then! I've had three years of immunity shots for dogs allergies and I'm still allergic, even with hypoallergenic ones 🙄
AtillaThePundit@reddit
Yeah think so , grew up with dogs but with constant sinus issues 😂 when the last dog died we realised it wasn’t 365 hayfever . Now have a cockapoo and not allergic , tho apparently only something like 10% of cockapoos are actually hypoallergenic so just lucked out . I am violently allergic to cat and horses .
VadimH@reddit
I'm so jealous lol.
I'm allergic to everything furry (horses are the worst) but then there's the dogs, cats, hamsters, rats, rabbits, guinea pigs... Sigh
Fu5i0n@reddit
I can only use a feather/down pillow. My wife has an Emma which she loves. But I have a neck/spine injury and as a side sleeper, feather is my go to
AtillaThePundit@reddit
Feather pillows are peak pillow tech
amsypeach@reddit
Tempur pillows are amazing. My husband bought 1 and it's really improved hsu sleep.
citygirluk@reddit
Seconding this, I shelled out a ridiculous amount of money for a Tempur mattress and thought I might as well get the pillow too...omg, best thing ever. Have never slept as well as I do now! The pillow by itself is amazing! Am a side sleeper too if that helps.
Equivalent-Main3163@reddit
We just got two with our tempur mattress. They sent us “soft” pillows. Do you have soft or medium- we don’t know which is better!
citygirluk@reddit
I have medium and my SO has soft, definitely prefer the medium personally!
Equivalent-Main3163@reddit
Oh good to know! We will switch the one that’s not opened to medium so we have both too

Yes we got the mattress as well. Best money ever spent
_LeChuck@reddit
My wife and I take our Tempur pillows on trips and holiday with us! We feel silly, but also… sleep matters?
RatherBeAsleepZzz@reddit
Also a big fan of Tempur pillows but John Lewis also do a much cheaper memory foam pillow that is shaped for side sleepers and I’ve loved that too. Really helped with my lower back and hip pain. https://www.johnlewis.com/john-lewis-specialist-support-2-way-memory-foam-standard-pillow-medium-firm/p110249049
g_constanza@reddit
Yep, I have a tempur pillow and can’t sleep on anything else. Was the only thing that cured my neck pain.
85Flux@reddit
I like my tempur cloud pillow, BUT ..
It does get warm!
vientianna@reddit
I have two Dunlopillos (now sold under the name Relyon) and they are the best purchase I ever made. I now take one with me when I stay in hotels. About £60-70 each, but 100% worth the money
lucalolio@reddit
Could i ask where you bought them from? The cheapest I could find was £89 from a website I've never heard of and £110 on amazon
vientianna@reddit
The first one was bought from John Lewis back when they were Dunlopillo and were about £65 but this is a good few years ago. The second I bought off eBay in 2022 from a seller called FGS furnishings and it was £75.
So yeah they are not cheap at all. The ones I’ve got are something like Super Comfort or Supreme Comfort
lucalolio@reddit
Thank you I'll try my luck on ebay
DxAxCxM@reddit
Would like to know how your mitre linen pillows are holding out? I’m considering them as of recently. Pillow hunting is the worse
kingsleyweb@reddit
Wool filled are amazing can add or remove filling to get exactly how you want them, https://baavet.co.uk/wool-bedding/wool-pillows/ Have their duvet too, stays the right temperature all year. Impressed with it all, and British wool, made in uk too
monistar97@reddit
I love latex pillows so when I found out my one was discontinued I went on a mission to find a replacement and Relyon have been amazing, soo comfy
TheCarrot007@reddit
Dunlipilo were not discontinued, they just went exclusive to Benson's for beds. Also price went up.
Yes if you buy in store it's all the same paperwork as if you bought a bed so expect to be there 30 mins
monistar97@reddit
I never found them in the stores? Also mine are from dreams, all be it about 10-15 years ago!
TheCarrot007@reddit
I guess they could have changed but they are still online with bensons.
I bought my current ones a couple of years back in York. The pillows were upstairs. I was indeed shocked at the paperwork though, but worth it since they are nice pillows.
garyisaunicorn@reddit
I'm looking for a replacement for my Dunlopillo, are Relyons good, then? 🙏
applesandpears100@reddit
I may be wrong but I thought Relyons bought Dunlopillo so it's the same pillow just rebranded
It_will_never_happen@reddit
This is correct, just rebranded
monistar97@reddit
Love mine! My mums notoriously fussy on pillows and even she loves the replacement
alycidon97@reddit
I’ve just bought a ‘Groove’ pillow because I had excruciating pain in my neck. Cost £30 and more than worth it - I’m pain free after many weeks suffering. It took about five nights to free up my neck.
TheErgonomicShuffler@reddit
I switched to chopped memory foam pillows and it's been a game changer for me. You can unzip them and remove stuffing to suit, but if your a side sleeper you probably want to leave it all
ButtercupBento@reddit
I’m a side, back and front sleeper. I basically sleep like I’m rolling out a fire or am in a washing machine apparently. Anyway I bought a Baavet wool pillow in 2021 and haven’t looked back
Always had issues with one pillow not being enough and 2 being too many. Then there’s the issue of being squishy and firm enough
This fits the bill on all counts and I don’t need a second pillow. It scrunches up under my neck when I’m on my back but squidgy enough that I don’t suffocate on my front
I air them twice a year (spring and autumn) outside and they don’t smell. Wool is naturally antibacterial
Innogen@reddit
I have a Putnams pillow which cured my neck pain. Have been using them for about 20 years and really notice the difference when I stay away and have to use a normal pillow.
MahatmaAndhi@reddit
I've just bought a Silent Night V-shaped pillow and I love it. I sleep with the pillow between my head and shoulder (with my arm above my head) and wake up with horrid shoulder pain. That's now gone. I can use the left and right sides and enjoy a good night's sleep.
jelinski619@reddit
I don't think many people know this but you can buy Premier Inn pillows here https://www.premierinnathome.com/product/pillows/
You get two for £36 inc protectors.
They're great!
PresentationEither19@reddit
Seems like it’s a duck-feather filled pillow. Have you tried a feather pillow? Honestly I’d try a few. Maybe go somewhere like Dunelm Mill or a bed shop and see if any match up to how that pillow feels?
ZealousidealPost7965@reddit (OP)
Just ordered some from mitrelinen as mentioned above, will keep you posted!

Twattymcgee123@reddit
Amazing pillows , although slightly on the hard side .
LennonC123@reddit
I’m a side sleeper that had neck issues. I know you’re not keen on memory foam but I got two Emma memory foam pillows. Each pillow has 3 different layers, I took one layer out and I’ve had no neck issues at all since. Had them for a year now and they haven’t lost their shape at all, I haven’t had to plump them or anything, I’ll just rotate them every couple of weeks.
GillyGoose1@reddit
I got the Otty pillows (also memory foam, probably identical to the Emma pillows in fact) and they're amazing. I've had mine for 7 years and they're still plump with no sinking issues. The initial cost of them is definitely off-putting but considering the amount of use you can get out of them, they're actually well worth it!
SwordTaster@reddit
That really depends what you like in a pillow. I bought a thin memory foam one from amazon and I adorable it. I think my parents intend to give it to my brother since I've emigrated and couldn't bring the pillow, and he also likes a thin memory foam and is struggling to find one. My parents and my brother's girlfriend like a good down pillow, which is also my second choice as they're nice and soft and fluffy (I just don't like when a feather works its way free and stabs me in the neck).
Apoc525@reddit
Simba pillows are nice, expensive but really nice
TheOnlyNadCha@reddit
I don’t know, I only use mine when I sleep on the side but it’s not great when I want to sleep on my back. I’m looking for the ultimate pillow that’ll be comfortable in both positions so I can roll around in peace!
Independent_Act8634@reddit
Was looking for this- 100% agree- we have a simba mattress, pillows and duvet and is the most comfortable pillow I have ever had.
freckledotter@reddit
Yes, same here. Lasted really well too.
CandyQueen85@reddit
Panda memory foam pillows are good but I do like a firm pillow.
Restorationjoy@reddit
Royal rest non memory foam one (it’s foam but not memory foam - they do both). Brilliant for the neck

Medium/firm pillows from soak & sleep Also the ones from linenbundle! Pricey though!

I like me an ikea foam. They stink after a while mind and not sure what to spray on them that’s not going to poison me

We’ve had these for a year and a half and they’re brilliant!

Tempur Cloud.
Kmoodle@reddit
I'm a side sleeper that needs to sleep with two pillows and this is the never-ending struggle - I think ive tried every pillow ever made lol
My current rotation is the simba one on the bottom (nice but quite firm) and a coop one from Amazon US - I love this one as it comes with a load of filling you can add / remove so I can amend it and it's lovely and soft.
Unfair_Original_2536@reddit
I just got a couple of Sealy side sleeper on offer (2 for £26) and they're great.
catofcorduroy@reddit
Feel free to ignore if you’re really anti memory foam but Cosi Home have shredded memory foam pillows which are really good. The memory foam is cut up into thousands of little pieces, which makes it more adaptable than standard memory foam pillows. You also get a little storage bag with them so you can remove some of the pieces if you want to try the pillows at different heights.

I'm looking forward to the responses. Great pillows at a hotel in New York a few years ago, couldn't get them here, but can't remember the make.
