SysAdmin Deepcut, anyone remember ~2001, AMD Athlon+ launch events?

This is for the old timers out there. I was just talking about the 'old days' with a coworker today and we were talking about the AMD Athlon + CPU launch and the events that happened around that time. I remember going to a large, local mall at 7AM. They had a big AMD truck and an 'event' atmosphere. They were giving away CPUs and Motherboards, just throwing them into the crowd and having people answer trivia questions to win a CPU or Motherboard. Unfortunately, I only caught a couple of tshirts and some memory...better than nothing, but I was 19 at the time and really wanted one of those CPUs!!! Does anyone else remember this launch event series? Is this all a fevre dream I had?
