Did anyone else grow up wanting to join the military just because movies made it seem cool?

For me it was GI Joe and all the Rambo (after the first one, didn't understand that one), and Schwarzenegger movies. I was as jingoistic as a preteen could be in the Reagan 80's because big guns and bad guys and AMERICA FUCK YEAH. Then I saw Full Metal Jacket at around 13 and my view of it all changed radically. Now, looking back, yes, I would have received some benefits, but am overall glad I was shown a bit more realistic view of things before I fully committed myself.
