Did you ever know anyone who lived in semi or terrace buy up their neighbours and create one big house?

>Maybe somebody wants a quite place to work for an afternoon, place to meet friends for drinks, put up visiting family over Christmas etc. Could even stick it on airbnb to raise money to cover maintenance and the like. That's an interesting idea - almost the 'gentleman's club', but more local and accessible. Logically you'd think 20 households could run another house, with each covering a manageable 5% of the cost. Staying guests maybe pay a contribution. Bring your own booze and food on a weekend evening and hang out. Rotating management committee, few rules to keep things under control. Run it as a community-benefit society. Could earn income by making it available for events. Run the garden as allotments. Feel guilty about taking housing stock off the market, though. A former B&B type set-up would be ideal - should have the bedrooms, a lounge, a decent kitchen and dining space. I do think that with the demise of working men's clubs, churches, etc, the 'third space' has been captured by coffee chains and pubs. Would be good to bring that into the community.
