i am making a budget build and was wonder what gpu to get for under 200, every where i look is split usually between the 3060 and the Rx 6600 which one should i choose for 1080p gaming like fortnite and valorant?
vxynl@reddit
short answer, a 6600 non XT if you can't go over budget at all (besides tax)
if you want to spend a little more, the 6600 XT or 6650 XT, the latter is $40 over before tax on Amazon right now.
if waiting/saving is an option, for $300 get off the 8gb VRAM and get a 6700 XT. it's a good card at 1080p and 1440p, high-ultra settings for games like Cyberpunk 2077.
if you swing towards Nvidia, you're back down to 8gb with the 4060 and it's a little worse at raw performance but you get DLSS, better ray tracing performance and some other fancy stuff.
both good cards. i wouldn't go with the 4060 personally. i wish you the best.

300$ could be enough for radeon 6750 xt with 12 Gb which is another level
vxynl@reddit
very very true. my dumbass bought the 6700 xt when the 6750 was like, nine bucks more expensive from MERC lol.
don't be like me op.

lol
Defiant_Quiet_6948@reddit
The 3060 is better but costs more.
Under $200 is typically buying used or whatever is on sale lol
dweller_12@reddit
Only the 3060 12GB which is way out of budget. The RTX 3060 8GB which is usually closer to the $200 mark is way slower than an RX 6600, 6600XT, 6650XT, etc.
coolgui@reddit
I just got a 3060 12GB on eBay for $165, it was under $200 with tax and shipping. Seller seemed to be a regular guy who just upgraded so I wasn't worried about mining or anything. So maybe used it's an option.
little_cut1e_2@reddit
The 3060 8gb has slightly cut down core count and lower memory bandwidth I believe.
dweller_12@reddit
It is slower than the cheaper RX 6600.
little_cut1e_2@reddit
Yes. So there is absolutely no reason to get it.
PuzzleheadedWin6423@reddit (OP)
ok
Ieanonme@reddit
While I’d recommend used, you definitely don’t need to. RX 7600 typically always has a few models at $199, with sales dipping below that a bit

thanks
CeriPie@reddit
They are incorrect. The 3060 12GB is better, not the $200 8GB version. The 12GB version is out of your budget.
The RX 6600 is better than the 3060 8GB.

thank you

A used 1080 ti.
gerark1ng@reddit
A used 1080ti for 150$ is better than rx 6600?
TuckinFiddies@reddit
Yes it is.
Piotr_Barcz@reddit
You could shoot for a used 2080 ti in like new condition. eBay has plenty of them in fine working order for around 200 dollars. You could also try to get a GTX 1660 ti (which is a solid card, I use one myself) for under 200 easily.
In fact, the 3060 or anything near it would be total overkill for Fortnite or other games with comparably horrendous graphics quality.
CalligrapherSweet4@reddit
RTX 3060 12gb
Redacted_Reason@reddit
The 199.99 one
UnviersallyYakuza@reddit
4060 XD
scudmonger@reddit
something used, a good 1080 TI can work wonders. Get some sort of warranty. I have one of these in a lan room and it just about holds its ground with our 3000 series cards.
Sharpeye_Snipor@reddit
An 5700xt from AliExpress? I got one for 100usd after coupons and coins. Mine was branded Soyo but was undervolted a lot. These are basically mining chips that get recycled into new gpus. But the value is insane. One more con is the noise.
OkCake7637@reddit
Used 2070s would be sweet spot in da my country for dat price
Prudent-Bath8735@reddit
I put the ASUS Dual NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 6GB OC Edition in the rig I built earlier this year. Runs Windows 11 and Diablo 4 like a champ. I enjoy it on 1440p, it would be superb at 1080p. Everybody gives this card a bad rap, but unless you really need DLSS 3 instead of 2, I don't think you can do better for the price. Newegg has it starting at $169.99. Did I mention it barely sips electricity? Max of 70 Watts. Do your research and go with what you think is best; that's my two cents.
Prudent-Bath8735@reddit
I forgot to mention, in full disclosure, it doesn't get acceptable frame rates at max settings. High settings gets an acceptable frame rate, better with a few tweaks to individual settings, and anything on "medium" with DLSS 2 seriously boosts FPS. I tend to play at high settings with a few individual things bumped down to medium, and DLSS turned on.
philolee@reddit
If you don’t mind used and can go up maybe $50 you can get 3070 and MAYBE 3070ti if you’re lucky.
LightmanDavidL@reddit
A GTX 1050 Ti
75tavares@reddit
Nice joke.
LightmanDavidL@reddit
It's not a joke and is in terms of bang for your buck.
epic-growth_@reddit
Rx 6650xt
epic-growth_@reddit
I use it for 1440p medium too
KabuteGamer@reddit
If it's for gaming, 6650XT all day fam. It's the best 1080p card you can get for the price.
If you use apps like Blender or an architect student, I suggest a 3060 or for a little more a 4060.
4060 beats the 7900 XTX in blender and similar apps because of CUDA cores.
SouthLoop_Sunday@reddit
Go used if you need under $200.
deadfishlog@reddit
Arc A750 can be had for $180 at times
Naerven@reddit
If this is in the US the key point is under $200. That would be a new rx6600 vs a used rtx3060 territory. So new the rx6600 is the best under $200. Used then the rtx3060.
